1. Time to agree to disagree
Sam Sweiry ,   Eastbourne - UK   (04.10.13)
What is wrong with this world ? - Why we cant follow what we believe? - God exist in all of us - everyone on this earth have a life to live - we all came to live for a purpose - Man made a home like anyone on this earth no matter where we live or what we believe - lets live in peace
2. "...Judaism holiest site...", let us keep in mind, is not...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.10.13)
... the Western Wall. The most sacred site for us, Jews, is rather Har ha-Bait (Temple Mount), to which the Western Wall is physically the closest location. While it is important to accommodate all Jews near ha-Kotel ha-Ma'aravi (Western Wall), it is also important to allow Jews, regardless of their specific religious affinity, to ascend, if they wish, to Har ha-Bait to visit AND worship, men and women alike, orthodox as well as liberal Jews.
3. And the Waqf says.........??
Shmuel ,   Merkaz, Israel   (04.10.13)
How long until the 'cousins' turn this into yet another bogus international incident???
4. Stupidity of Man
Sagi   (04.10.13)
How utterly ridiculous and idiotic that people should fight, squabble, boycott and kill over a pile of stones. I know my heritage and I know the reasons for respecting the past and do not require lessons from anyone. I would say exactly the same about the big black stone in Mecca. Life and respect for one's fellow being are more important by far than respecting stones.
5. Simple, move the men and extreme haredi to new section
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (04.10.13)
Simply divide the area so that the men are at the South end (new area, Women in the middle, and mixed at the North end, all with slightly higher walls between the sections. This way everyone can do what they want without having to watch the others and the military that freed the site can hold graduations there again.
6. We want to pray on Har habayit
fred ,   Petach Tikva   (04.10.13)
not where the sheep pens used to be kept during the Temple period.
7. The next battle...
Rube Vogel ,   Jerusalem   (04.10.13)
prediction - If women are allowed to wear prayer shawls at the wall, they will stop doing so. Time to move to the next men's-only ritual - Circumcision?
8. There were no separations in the 80's.
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (04.10.13)
It is amazing how things change whenever a new government takes over. If religious fanatics get into politics again, then again Wall will be separated? Pass a law that cannot be changed !!!
9. Monitor usage of each area.
jrebecca ,   modiin   (04.10.13)
If any area is constantly more used it should be allocated a bigger space. The dividers should be easily moveable to adjust the size of the areas according to usage. Currently the womens section is about 1/2 the size of the mens section, and is always full.
10. I thought the Kotel was a Jewish place.
Eliahu   (04.10.13)
11. and last bigger issue & what of our non-Jewish brethren?
Sarita Montiel ,   Israel   (04.10.13)
where are they going to be sent to pray? Let's not forget that G-d says "My house is a house of prayer for all people!"
12. Shalom Bayis at The Kotel.
tzina nechumah ,   Jerusalem, Israel.   (04.10.13)
Yesher Koach to Natan Sharansky for helping kol yisrael find her way towards unity through prayer.
13. Idolatry of place
Avramele   (04.10.13)
We need no special place to pray to our god and a wall and a temple built by a murderous Roman wannabe has no spiritual significance to me. Rabbinic Judaism for it's own political reasons chose to defer to the superstitions of the masses and wax nostalgic over temples and the always dubious act of animal sacrifice - all treif in my mind. I will hold to the true legacy of the Jews, a living evolving Torah and our yearning to be a free people in our own land.
14. Now all we need
Vered, Israel   (04.10.13)
is to have a police presence in the Orthodox section for the first few weeks of the new system, to arrest the egg and diaper throwers, until they know that the Kotel is a place of peace, and they will not profit from disrupting it.
15. sounds decent
Ilana   (04.10.13)
I am not crazy about the solution as I do not think people who are not Israeli citizens should have such an influence in our country as to changing the law, however, this time it is convenient as it is in agreement with my worldview, at least, but probably many others' as well.
16. the bigger issues
Sarita Montiel ,   Israel   (04.10.13)
1. where will the IDF hold its ceremonies? (I've a feeling that the Orthodox and the Kotel Rabbi are going to demand that the IDF move to the new Women's section) 2. when are we getting rid of all the OBNOXIOUS beggars who CONSTANTLY interrupt those of us who have come to pray? 3. when is the current Kotel Rabbi going to be FIRED?
17. Is time for the Haredis to close and eye or
NATAN ,   ISRAEL   (04.10.13)
to were sun glasses!!
18. In our religion as I know we don't have holly
NATAN ,   ISRAEL   (04.10.13)
places, sites or thinks is a religios historical place but no a holly one, the haredi people must be careful with the idolatry issue.
19. WoW still won't be happy.
Jake in Jerusalem ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.10.13)
They never wanted freedom of religion. They wanted to oust the Orthodox from the Kotel. They will still be unhappy and make trouble. They are just attention-seeking militant secularists.
20. bad news, bad bad news :'(
(04.10.13)
what a shame :/
21. A their rep said, "it is just the beginning..."
L ,   Merkaz, Israel   (04.10.13)
The Reform and Conservative movements are American and have no place in Israel. We see the end-result of their campaigns in the US: "As Reform Rabbi Lance J Sussman wrote in 2010, “With the exception of a number of Orthodox communities ...American Judaism is in precipitous decline … the Reform movement has probably contracted by a full third in the last ten years!”" -- and I think he's being kind. Intermarriage rate is way over the 50% mark. Israel can do without their "contribution" here and should frankly tell them to shove their blatant agenda. Their "lawfare" department, the "Religious Action Committee" headed by Gilad Kariv, will not stop at the Kotel, they will attack all the normative ways of Israeli Jewish life with their gimmicky political games and American-style "sue-happy" law suits. There is no genuine striving for godliness here. This is just an uber-agressive liberal, feminist, anti-Torah-Judaism campaign. Politicking at its ugliest.
22. Massorti in Israel
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (04.11.13)
'a marginal, radical element that cannot be satisfied' a perfect description of Women at the Wall, who were free to develop Robinson's Arch but prefered to offend those at the wall Plaza. Both are the same western Wall, but the WoW demanded an audience. Robinson's Arch is open every morning for Shacharis and paid entry to the archaeological park begins about 10 a.m. Bar and Bas Mitzvahs have been taking place there regularly. Google 'Robinson's Arch'. As for Yizhar Hess's rant about the Wall serving only one extreme element, has he ever been there? On the men's side there is the entire spectrum of Jewish men, using the full spectrum of Jewish prayerbooks. No one asks anyone which 'stream' they are from. Yizhar Hess speaks for Massorti, a 'stream' with a very small Israeli following. Massorti claim to be a form of halachic Judaism , aside from ordaining actively gay and lesbian rabbis and performing same-sex marriages in their temples.
23. Nussach Eretz
Raviv ,   Jerusalem   (04.11.13)
All this redivision and slicing up just so that we dont pray on the Mount itself. Its been 100 years since we have come back to our Land and we are still not one Nation but rather sectors. As good as this plan is, since it brings other streams of Judaism closer to the source, it still wont deal with the real issue. Lets pray at the Mount in a synagogue next to the Dome and lets REadopt the original customs of Land of Israel, before all the Ashkenazi/Sephardi and Reform/Orthodox stuff, which existed last time we were independent.
24. Separate but equal?
E.J. ,   Novato   (04.11.13)
It is interesting to note that Jews who were the primary authors of the Brown v.Board of Education of Topeka, KS argument that separate is inherently unequal take such an opposite stance when it comes to their own nation.
25. The Southern Wall
Eliezer Eisenberg ,   Chicago, IL   (04.11.13)
The Southern wall of the Har Habayit had, when the Temple was standing, two gates called Shaarei Chuldah, named after the prophetess. Prophetic indeed.
26. High Court ruling from long ago
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (04.12.13)
'threatening to undermine Diaspora Jews' support for Israel' !!! If American Reform Jews can't take over the Western Wall they will no longer support Israel??? The Israeli Supreme Court ruled that the Robinson's Arch section of the Western Wall was designated for non-Orthodox Jewish services and the Reform Movement could have developed this area into a major centre of Reform Judaism, but tended to ignore the site, aside from being use regularly for Bar and Bat Mitzvot. Natan Sharansky is simply complying with the High Court order, which had been accepted from the start by the full range of Orthodox Jews in Israel.
27. What a bunch of zevel
Yosef ,   Arizona   (04.14.13)
So, is there going to be a section of Jews for DZheezuz? They deserve to be respected as well and need to be represented by their own section so that they can shlep a zlav to the Kotel There is only one Judaism. It's the law of Hashem passed to us by Moshe Rabeinu.
