1. ISRAEL HAS ENOUGH ENEMIES WITHOUT ITS ROTTEN DRIVERS
stude ham   (04.10.13)
GET ACTION ON STRICT DRIVER EDUCATION AND EVEN STRICTER DRIVER LICENSING TESTS IN ALL OF ISRAEL. WE DO NOT NEED THIS KIND OF CARNAGE ON ISRAEL'S ROADS. IN THE MEANTIME, IF THAT TRUCK DRIVER SURVIVED THE HORRIFIC CRASH, CRIMINALLY CHARGE THAT DRIVER FOR RECKLESS AND CARELESS CONDUCT LEADING TO LOSS OF LIFE.
2. 2 families condolences; 2 injured healing 2 y net y put #1?

3. #1 - It may be poor road planning
Joe ,   Toronto, Canada   (04.10.13)
It may not be reckless drivers, but poor (unsafe) road planning.
4. #1 Agreed!!
Mariana ,   Haifa   (04.10.13)
The truck drivers in Israel are simply disgusting. I hope this one rotten in jail!
5. Another case of terror by truck?
Mark   (04.10.13)
It is not inconceivable, since there have been numerous incidents where the truck driver just "got distracted" and drove into incoming cars full of Jews.
6. bad truck drivers
paul ,   hadera   (04.10.13)
Every day I here how bad the Israeli truck drivers!.Israeli truck drivers are some of the best drivers in the world!.Ive got 30 plus years experiance on ALL size trucks and buses, you have to be good to drive on the roads in this country with all the suicidal idiots on the road in this country cutting you up on the right cutting into your braking distance. This does however sound like driver neglect why didnt he use the dead mans handle?most trucks nowadays have onboard computers showing what percentage of brakepads remain, airpressure etc!
7. In the past month
Sagi   (04.10.13)
on a daily basis there has been a report of murder, rape, underworld hits and road carnage. Something is very radically wrong in our society.
8. the driver is an arab , the dead are also arabs
shadicoo ,   gaza   (04.10.13)
the driver is from Rahat town
9. #5 Implication,because
Get Real ,   UK   (04.10.13)
truck driver was from Rahat ? So presumably a Bedouin Arab?
10. charge the driver with vehicular manslaughter
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (04.10.13)
There was clear criminal negligence on the part of the truck driver. He was going much too fast to begin with, which is likely what caused him to burn out his brakes. There has to be consequences for recklessness & stupidity on the road.
11. enough
Ron ,   Canada   (04.10.13)
happens in Canada too but a truck driver should inspect his rig as a pilot does and the company that operates the truck better ensure that it meets the hightest standards before coming down that hill. That truck likely came from the high rise apartments at the top of the hill where exclusive pricey houses are being built....at the expense of these innocents. People need to go to jail for manslaughter and maybe the message will get through and the governement needs to do a better job of inspections.
12. Haifa:mass casualties in multiple vehicle collision. #5
Elsie. ,   Gush Halav   (04.10.13)
# Your post was to say the least awful, as horrific as the accident was, we don't need you making these kind of racist comments ,let the police find out what happen, than comment. To the families who lost their loved ones, be in peace, I truely feel for you all.
13. @10 in Israel we only have Negligent Homicide..
Just Sayin' ,   Israel   (04.10.13)
maybe in America or wherever it is you come from they have "vehicular manslaughter" but this is Israel my friend. The charge when decided would be Negligent Homicide By the way I presume that you know that this type of truck has a hydraulic breaking system that works VERY differently from the brakes in your car. The smell of rubber means that the driver was attempting to manually over ride his breaks and get them to work.
15. @10, there was clearly criminal negligence here - just sayin
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (04.10.13)
16. Heavy Lorries Limit Speed & Weight :
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (04.10.13)
Drivers here tend to put their foot on the gas going hell for leather as a norm Ban double 40 CU Yards lorries limit their maximum speed. More frequent road worthy tests would all help
17. to #8 it doesn't matter
Yaeli ,   Israel   (04.10.13)
It doesn't matter if they are Arabs or Jews, it is a horrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the injured and the victim's families and to the truck driver who will be scarred by this, whether caused by accident or negligence, for life.
18. The driver had 16 traffic violations
Bill ,   Tel Aviv   (04.10.13)
He should have had his license to drive a truck permanently revoked after the first 4.
19. WHO CALLED THE TRUCK DRIVER ?
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (04.11.13)
Who called the Driver a Wanker ? who called the wanker a driver ?
20. Aliyah on hold.......
Henry ,   Toronto   (04.11.13)
I think I shall stay in Canada for now. Too many horrible stories lately in Israel this is very very sad. Condolences to all those families.
21. Haïfa accident
Audrey ,   Strasbourg France   (04.11.13)
Enough is enough ! Israeli car drivers are criminals ! ISRAELI POLICE MUST put policemen and radars on every corner and finally give the right fines those crazy drivers deserve !
22. Haifa
Debbie ,   Israel   (04.11.13)
16 TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS? And this man was still on the road, WHY? The Arabs, Beduins and Druse are the worst, most criminal drivers. Sorry to profile, but we spend many hours a day on Israeli roads, for many years already. They don't follow a single rule of the road, they speed, take dangerous chances, pass up 3 vehicles at a time even when theres a solid line. Loads of times we've just barely been missed being crashed head on by these drivers, as they pass 2 trucks at a time, or 3 cars, where they're not allowed to pass, just getting back into their proper lane by a hair. In addition they make rude gestures, even when they're in the wrong. I literally have my heart in my mouth, on the road, especially near Arab villages.
23. 16 Tickets
Ron ,   OC   (04.11.13)
Horrible driving record, overweight truck, speeding. In as much as the driver should do many years behind bars. How about the courts that allow this maniac to keep on driving on Israeli roads.
24. Where are the traffic patrol police?
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (04.11.13)
Horrible event. Roads are overcrowded, too narrow, too many extended load trucks and drivers get away with crazy behavior. Where are the police on major roads? When ever I see them, they are driving as crazy as the populace. In Judea and Samaria there is absolutely no jurisdiction, and complete lawlessness.
25. Driving Profilers
Sarah ,   Haifa   (04.11.13)
The worse drivers in this country are the Haredim women, then the Haredim men, then the Arab women, then the young male Jewish racing drivers, then the Arab men, I have been studying this phenomena for years, the general driving in this country is shocking, the machoism, the lack of any courtesy or consideration! I have seen people reverse round roundabouts! Reading newspapers, eating, talking on the phone, doing anything apart from concentrating on the roads!
