1. Role of King in constitution
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (04.14.13)
If the Jordanian Court gave him life imprisonment, I can't see the King granting a pardon after 16 years for six murders. Jordan was created by Britain and the King was educated in Britain. Giving a pardon to a murderer of six schoolgirls would be very out of character.
2. # Agree with you, Holmes
Keren IL-BR   (04.14.13)
This disgusting piece of news is very disturbing, but I trust the King will veto any pardoning. The number of congressmen in Jordan voting for the initiative (110) is also disgusting. No wonder the relations between our two nations is cold and depressed. Who want to warm them up with legislators like this?
3. #1, #2
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (04.14.13)
The "Arab Spring" is about getting rid of corrupt Western/secular puppets and replacing them with Jihadist rule. After Egypt, Jordan is next. Whatever his personal feelings, the king may have no choice but release the murderers to stay in power. Just like Netanyahu was forced to apologize to Turkey for Obama's interests, Netanyahu will accept whatever Jordan does to protect American interests. The only thing that Israel can learn is that only an idiot surrenders tangible security assets for a peace of paper.
4. King is above parliament
Jordanian   (04.14.13)
The parliament passes all sort of crazy petitions. One time in the 90s I remember they passed a resolution to segregate men and women in public swimming pools, King Hussein vetoed it. Islam and/or tribal mentalities need to catch up with modern society till then the King will remain the supreme Judge and have the last say to veto any reckless resolutions so to speak. A murderer of little children should remain in prison for his entire life, most Jordanian forums had this same comments made by many Jordanians , Israelis are our neighbors and breath the same air and watch the same sunset and Israeli children should be able to travel in Jordan as safely as Jordanian and Palestinian children because we all have children and we all love them very much. This soldier was a Jordanian of Jordanian ancestry (not Palestinian) so the tribes might side with him even if he is wrong and regardless of what he committed or against who(tribes support their members even if they are wrong). His story thus kind of unites the Islamic cause with tribal causes. Yet despite all that the King is King and the army and police are his and this murderer is not getting out. People need to grow up and think about the future of the region and not just themselves.
5. If he had been in an Israeli prisoner
Ilan   (04.14.13)
Peres would be on the news exclaiming the wisdom of releasing murderers for peace. Thank G-d it is King Hussien who will make the decision and not our own "justice" system.

Assad spent some time being partly trained in the UK

kill his family. But not him. Let him mourn the rest of his miserable life.
