1. Mr. Segal, you are right. In 1000 years the world will have
Moshe ,   Usa   (04.20.13)
peace with arobs. Islooom will be dead at that time & conquered by another religion which will be a modern acknowledgement of G-d with moderate precepts for mankind's interpersonal human relations. This new arob religion will follow a sever beating by europion, asian & western nations that will rebuke arobs as a people & teach them how much easier it is to get along with others. I hope this punishment will severely shock them into reality & drastically diminish their numbers.
2. That day in the future when we finally shall be free of Shi-
tom ,   tel aviv   (04.20.13)
mon (in politics!) cannot come too soon. The man is working hard at constructing an alternative reality, so the magificent "Library" (or whatever Israel decides to erect) will picture him as someone akin to Mother Teresa: another phoney, charlatan, that somehow managed to bamboozle most of the world.
3. Well -

- A clock that has stopped at least show the right time twice in 24 hours. Some Day He will be Right. Arn.Sweden.
4. Thank you sir, ( author )
BUILD BABY BUILD!!!! ,   United States   (04.20.13)
I thought it was just me thinking Peres should retire. He's out of touch with reality and the reality is that Abbas and Hams are one and the same. Can anyone manage to help Peres to be silent and thought less a fool while he's still in office?
5. peres the blind optimist
milton ,   katzir israel   (04.20.13)
baruch hashem that he still is not as corrupted in his soul as you are,and that he does not live in your vacuum of polyanna reality,he can see the down side and upside, whereas the downside is too complex for your simple journalistic mind to grasp
6. When does such "blindness" become
DT ,   TA Israel   (04.20.13)
total stupiduty ? I suggest pers has long passed that marker
7. When 70, there will be peace...
tiki ,   belgium   (04.20.13)
With all due respect to Mr. Peres, but as a 90 year old man he should know by now that if you want to make G-d smile, you predict the future to him (or her).
8. Only one possible solution
Raptor   (04.20.13)
Total capitulation from one side after a humiliating defeat, similar to what happened to the Japanese in 1945.
9. I share that opinion...!
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Ger   (04.20.13)
10. 100% RIGHT. Peres must go home
(04.20.13)
11. You can not external peace without internal peace
Ron ,   Melbourne, Australia   (04.20.13)
Before you can have peace between the Arab Countries and Israel you need to have peace and human rights internally in the Muslim countries and between themselves. When it is acceptable to persecute Coptics in Egypts, Shia or Sunni respectively there is no possibility of external peace - when no respect for these internally how do you imagine it would work externally. .
12. not only peres
milson   (04.20.13)
if you take the group that strongly advocates concessions and blind peace and asked them based on their record to fight for israel- the country would go down the drain and fast eg-olmert, livni, ramoni, haber, sarid, weisglass, betito, the whole bloody haaretz staff, ben ami and beilin, and of course peres. With such people, the country would not be standinig. Some of these people are well intentionned but you could not get a more gutless weak kneed group as these people.
13. Peres a blind optimist
Toledano Jean-Pierre ,   Israel   (04.20.13)
Peres is blind or simply denies the true, the reality. You can make peace with the Arab world, with some rare realistic and secular leaders like a Mubarak. But always at the end you have to deal with the Islamic factor and that you cannot deny, turning your head to the other side or putting it in the sand. Islam and Israel - a Zionist and Jewish country - are not and will never going together. The politicians, who make peace with us, are for the imams and the mullahs simply heretics and must be destroyed. At the end they, the clerics, are winning the game: see the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt,… In the Koran and the hadith Jews are considered as the villains. Another reason is that we're living on a former Islamic land and soil, so they think and say that they have the right to take it back, even we were living here before Mohamed was born. The same problem for some parts of Spain and France, in the past ruled by Muslims! I wanted to say that Peres becomes old and lost since years his sense for reality. A politician has to be always a realistic man, not a dreamer. When he was director-general of the Ministry of Defense, he did what he must do for the country. Thanks, Shimon. Now it's time to go. Don't become a second Jimmy….
14. Segal feels threatened by a 90 year old man...
Ehud   (04.20.13)
..and by the prospect of peace. That's a case for therapy!
15. Jewish greed for Mediterranean land is the problem, again
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (04.20.13)
"Hagai Segal was part of the Jewish underground. He had planted a bomb in the car of the Arab mayor of Ramallah, who lost his leg in the explosion. Segal was sentenced to three years in jail. He got out after two, in May 1986."
16. Convicted terrorist Hagai Segal can walk, unlike his victim
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (04.20.13)
17. Peres needs to look at his early days
David ,   Israel   (04.20.13)
When he frantically traveled the world in search of weapons for the tiny Jewish state to defend itself Nothing has changed in the slightest, just the nature of the game.
18. The real problem is the loss of lives
Zev ,   Israel   (04.20.13)
No problem in being an optimist but when you are in a position to act or cause others to act blindly based upon wishful thinking you should be run out of town when you fail and cause people to be blown up. Oslo is a case where Israel (and the Palestinians) was much worse off when they brought Arafat and his henchmen back to here.
19. Give Credit where credit is due
dr harry ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.20.13)
What a shocking moment to see & read an article published in Ynet, YES, Ynet, allowing someone to actually criticize Peres. WOW! I had my doubts about Ynet, but this is a welcomed surprise. Thank You, Ynet.
20. Agree 100% with Hagai Segal and Dr. Harry (19)
Ben Israel ,   US/Israel   (04.20.13)
21. Please, understand Shimon Peres.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (04.20.13)
Your President, Shimon Peres, is not a weak man. On the contrary, he is strong. He struggles for a secure and honoured peace, although it may be too difficult. No one can deny his patriotism, that was proved very much when he was Prime Minister, and when he kept other charges during past wars. He knows, and we friends too, that Israel must be defended through all necessary means against her hateful enemies. But never giving up from her ideals.
22. Correction title should read Peres blind
BUILD BABY BUILD!!!! ,   United States   (04.21.13)
and not too smart. Peace in five years?? LOL surrrre.
23. Abbas spells "peace" p-i-e-c-e
(04.21.13)
Abbas demands post '49 borders, making Israel 9 miles wide north of Tel Aviv. He demands Jerusalem. He demands millions of Arabs [right of return] take over Israel. He refuses to accept Israel as a Jewish state. All these add up to someone who believes Israel shouldn't exist. How do you 'negotiate' with someone whos doesn't believer you have the right to exist Mr. Peres?
24. Go home Peres.
Wise Saba ,   Western Negev   (04.21.13)
Yup, Peres has lost any credibility he ever had, he's completely lost it. He still doesn't get it that his failed Oslo dream is responsible for thousands of deaths & injuries of innocent Israelis. There will never be peace between us & them, that is a fact.
25. blind optimist :dangereous
michel ,   Ashkelon   (04.21.13)
26. Lip service
Elez11 ,   London , England   (04.21.13)
The whole world must surely realise that the two state solution is dead. Whether Peres does , and is merely paying lips service because neither side wishes to be seen as the obstacle to peace, is another story.
27. The Definition Of Insanity
Brett ,   Florida   (04.21.13)
Doing the same thing over and over and over and expecting a different outcome. He was once a patriot, then something happened to him. He lost his courage, his guts. Someone convinced him, if he made peace with enemies that swore to his destruction, he would become a great man. Too bad, for him and Israel. Look at all the deaths he has caused since Oslo, and still cannot admit his mistakes. Pride goes before a fall, he has already fallen and can't get up. Let him go away quietly and be remembered before Oslo, before he turned against his country.
28. Peres is the best president Israil has ever had!
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.21.13)
I hope he stays with us untill 120 ,as our beloved prophet Musa.
29. To: Judge Haddad @ #21
Israeli 2   (04.22.13)
The only thing he is good at is being the best Israeli diplomat I have ever seen. Only that, I grant you.
30. Does Peres beleive in peace?
Nora Tel Aviv   (04.22.13)
He keeps saying : I beleive in peace, I am for peace. I long for peace. And as the peace lover President of the State of Israel he is well received everywhere in the world. Not a bad life with a mantra well used.
