I don't understand the basis of having separate IDF cemeteries inside Israel. Why are fallen soldiers not buried near their families in local cemeteries? Perhaps there should be fallen soldiers sections of local cemeteries. In the World Wars there were military cemeteries for soldiers who died very far from home. That doesn't usually apply to the IDF. May we soon see the day when 'He will destroy death forever; and the L-rd G-d will wipe away tears from all faces... for the L-rd has spoken it.'

SHAMEFUL!
35. right you are: blame the rabbi

My own view on the matter - for what it's worth - is that there need not be segregated sections specifically for jews or non Jews. The best approach would be to give everyone an option: mixed/non-observant/observant (the latter two exist at present). However, the article tells a completely diffeent story to the attention-grabbing headline. The family went through their choices comparing distance and cost. Is that not what others do? The rabbi simply relayed the rules of his local cemetary, something that exists in every town and city in most of the civilised world. And, for all those rabbi-bashers who have commented so far, I'd like to ask one question: were you to die outside Israel, where would you chose to be buried? In a non-Jewish cemetary or in a Jewish cemetary? How would you relate to having non-Jews buried in a Jewish cemetary where your relatives lie?

Indeed it is necessary, but not because we're goyim.
37. burial of Jewish soldiers and parents

They are good enough to fight and die for us. Their parents are good enough for us that they should mourn their child. These rabbis are not good enough for us.
38. Number one. Cemeteries
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (04.28.13)
In traditional Christian cemeteries onlly those who have been baptised or Christened are buried. Traditional Jewish cemeteries bury Jews who publicly desecrate Shabbos away from the mainstream observant Jews. There are many customs surrounding cemeteries, but there is no excuse for the way the Drobitsky Family was treated.
39. Shameful...

to put this man's family through such an indignity. It is bigotry on the part of those who would deny the man the decency in death he deserves.

This young man was JEWISH. His father was not. Or, are you stating his mom was a gentile?
