She is a deserter and that is a huge difference.
3. She is a mother of four.

I would agree to punish a man deserter but woman needs to be with her children, and her children need their mother. The law must be different on the grounds of natural for human beings psychological and physiological differences between man and woman. Instead of punishing her, she had to be examined by the medical doctors for PTSD, and released if found to be in distress upon her return from the first tour in Iraq. She witnessed enough.
4. During the Viet Nam War, a US Army soldier whose last name
Rivkah   (05.01.13)
was Majuta from Tucson, Arizona, deserted when his wife could not handle the separation and he had a baby. The hid out in his grandmother's home until he was caught and sent to Viet Nam. No trial for the desertion. Just orders to go where he didn't want to go and avoided going for six months. If he had refused the orders at that point, he would have been court martialed. So perhaps this mother of four should be given a choice to take the orders she ran away from or to be court martialed. If court martialed a dishonorable discharge is not the handicap for a woman it is for a man. During wartime, the traditional punishment for deserters is execution, so if she gets five years in prison she should consider herself lucky. Some prisons have nurseries for her to care for her children during the incarceration until a certain age for the children. Infants certainly would be covered under that.
5. The deserter got 10 months to be served at MCAS Miramar
Rivkah   (05.03.13)
in San Diego. I hope they allow her children in a nursery for her to care for since her partner is Hispanic and in my observation of decades, Hispanic males and Black males tend to desert a partner or wife if the going gets rough. Blacks and Hispanics are more likely to marry or enter a partnership with a woman for better but not for worse. Since it is very likely the woman and her four children and the one in her belly will be abandoned I hope the children are put into a facility for her to care for them during her incarceration. The Hispanic partner cannot work and take care of children and he will likely bolt and abandone them all as so many Hispanics and Blacks have done to so many young White women that the number is unfathomable and should be a warning for White women to refuse to date Hispanics or Blacks because the risks are too great.
