1. Syria
George ,   Kendall Park USA   (05.02.13)
Why us? We have just ended a stupid war and we are trying to get out of another. Why should our young people bear the burden. If you are so anxious to save the Syrians go yourself.
2. Obama's Legacy?
Jonny ,   Cape Town   (05.02.13)
Inactivity in the Syrian civil war may well be Obama's legacy. But he does have a tough decision, "damned if he does, damned if he doesnt". Who would want to be the President of the USA?
3. Why the hell should America apologise to every primitive cul
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.02.13)
ture on this Planet for not playing police all the time, anytime, everywhere?! Please have some "RESPECT" for people's religious convictions & multicultural diversity: THIS is what Islam is doing to them. let them walk the plank.
4. Absolutely correct not to mention
Shachar ,   Eilat   (05.02.13)
the chemical and biological weapons they're giving to Al-qaida who are taking part on the war. When these weapons reach US soil there will suddenly be an outcry "why didn't we do anything!"
5. So tellus,what are US/UN promises worth?Answer NOTHING
Alan ,   SA   (05.02.13)
6. let the Arabs fix their own problems
Shep ,   Memphis, TN   (05.02.13)
I understand where the writer is coming from, and I agree that 70,000 dead by hand is just as horrible as death by gas.....but the writer didn't explain exactly how the U.S. is supposed to intervene is an area where all the players are anti-American and fighting a secterian civil war that we have no hope of solving. This looks like an Arab problem and the Arab League should finance and equipt thier own troops to stop the carnage. The US can supply arms...to a degree, but even then, they will most likely end up being pointed at us or our allies. I hate to say it, but the reality is we have our enemies killing each other and on a really cruel level, that isn't the worst-case-scenerio. Our guys dieing trying to intervene would be.
7. U.S. intervention !
miri ,   israel   (05.02.13)
I won't disagree about intervention, but truly why the U.S. ? Shouldn't this be a duty to be carried out by the U.N. ? The U.S. has already sadly lost large numbers of men and has spent a small fortune in Iraq, Afganhistan. I wouldn't blame them for their decision not to enter into this battle alone.
8. "Humanitarian" bombings only worsen the situation for
Iris   (05.02.13)
the people being bombed to "democracy and freedom". Weren't Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan enough to prove this? Sorry, warmongers will have to find another excuse for their crimes.
9. a lesson for Israel, to be learned very thoroughly!
tiki ,   belgium   (05.02.13)
10. What is this hand job diatribe, Bergman?
Cameron ,   USA   (05.02.13)
Could only sneer with contempt at reading through that self-righteous, foolish yammer. Take your sanctimonious attempt at a guilt trip, and stick it where the sun never shines. Let the worthless rabble of Syria destroy themselves. Our interest in saving any Muslim population at this point hovers around the point of zero. The only "American apology" you, Israel, or the populace in Syria are due is an erect finger on a Yankee fist.
11. Complete and utter BS
TaylorT ,   Earth   (05.02.13)
What an absurd article. It is not America's duty to take care of Israel's enemies. If Israelis are so ignorant as to want to intervene in Syria, go ahead. But stop trying to get others to do your dirty work for you. The numerous cherry-pickings of "facts" in this article in order to seek American intervention should make any rational-thinking person cringe. I wonder if any fools will actually but it?
12. Uhh...
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (05.02.13)
I'm extremely pro-Israe & a proud Jew, but I'm also a pragmatic American patriot. It's not our (US) job to intervene all over the globe. Exactly what moral obligation do we have to Syria? I argue that we should have forces on the ground in Mexico helping them with their drug war. Syria is way off the radar for us. Perhaps Syria's neighbors should be the first to "help"?
13. Let's be serious, the only thing we can do
Yossef   (05.02.13)
is to watch over chemical and biological weapons and destroy them if they move to Lebanon. What else can we do? Nothing.
14. @ 6
Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (05.02.13)
You hit the nail on the head. This sectarian conflict/ civil war is no business of the US. If any country or organization that should intervene is Israel, Turkey, Jordan and the Arab league. It is time for some other countries to MAN-UP and spend there own money and spill there own blood and stop relying on the US. Please stop making us a scapegoat for all of the worlds problems. We have had enough. "FDR" if your neighbors house is on fire, you don't lend him a garden hose, you help him put out the fire.
15. Russia and china are the ones that have blood on their hands
Igor ,   Detroit, USA   (05.02.13)
Not America, we tried, the UN. also where the hell is Europe, this is their backyard.
16. No amount of Crocodile tears by the author, and...
Persian CAT   (05.02.13)
other war mongers, who want the US to believe Israeli (and Turkish) lies will help. The American people and Obama administration are not going to be suckered by Bibi and his girl friend, Erdogan. Ronen needs to find another fake Arab/Muslim cause to "support".
17. how bout you shut up
courtney ,   usa   (05.02.13)
and do something yourself, we have enough problems
18. The American people;
Uncle Sam #1 ,   Arlington, USA   (05.02.13)
don't believe nor trust Israeli information. We trusted them about WMD's in Iraq. Their information was false. The American government has gotten a lot of false information from Mr. Netanyahu's government. And isn't wanting to make another mistake that will cost more American lives over falsehoods.
19. The US or any one else
Ron ,   OC US   (05.02.13)
All the kings horses....There is no nation earth that can keep Arab/Moslems from killing each other or manufacturing refugees or hating the infidel. America can not rescue the Arabs/Moslems. My only regret with the Syrian civil war is that there has to be a winner.
20. #2
JtC ,   Jhb / Nir Eliyahu   (05.02.13)
You make a good point, but there is one major flaw in your comment. President Obama wanted to be president, he made a choice, and with that comes making tough decisions, sometimes very tough. He will always have critics no matter what he decides, as with anyone else. He must make the right choice, and be able to live with the ramifications either way. If the US are unwilling to get involved in foreign conflicts...well it's way too late for that now, since they've been doing that for a very long time and for very unethical reasons. It would be a change to see them getting involved for more moral reasons, like saving inncocent lives where there is no oil or other revenues to be gained.
21. # 6 Yes Shep and let the Arabs pay for them too
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (05.02.13)
Somehow oodles of dead Muslims doesn't bother me nearly as much as oodles of dead Americans or Israeli's. The best part is, their doing it to themselves. "Vengeance is mine saith the L-rd." The L-rd works in mysterious ways....
22. # 2 Jonny, Cape Town
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (05.02.13)
American's like me would have preferred Mitt Romney over obama the muslim. All of Islam is melting into mud.
23. # 11 Taylor relax, the Syrians aren't worth saving.
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (05.02.13)
Syria isn't Israel's enemy, Syria is the killing field sponsored by both iran and Arabia. Let the snakes murder one another... who cares?
24. Interesting point
SwissMike ,   Switzerland   (05.02.13)
You have a very good point. The means of violence are less relevant than the level of violence. Just one thing: the 1994 genocide was mostly committed using firearms, not machetes (~10%).

Syria's neighbors are going broke 'helping' her scared shitless Syrian civilians. Turkey especially, makes me smile.. Trading tourists for the homeless.
27. # 20 Thanks to Islamic terrorists
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (05.02.13)
that obama allows into America, we Americans now have more enemies within our gates as does Israel. obama isn't capable of making good decisions, Egypt now has the Muslim Brotherhood in charge, America once said she 'wouldn't negotiate with terrorists" LOL, now, obama 'elects' them via OUR US tax dollars, while Mubarak assured peace, Egypt now assures more terror and poverty and shame.
28. The U.S. is not the world's policeman
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (05.02.13)
I am not supportive of Obama's foreign policy. I believe it's imperative that he attack Iran's nuclear weapons facilities. But I am against any U.S. troops in Syria. First of all, this will only play into the hands of extremists & maybe Assad's. Also, after losing thousands of good men in Iraq & Afghanistan, Americans are dead set against getting involved in .another Mideast conflict.

30. To Persian Rat #16
Jake   (05.02.13)
The Israelis excplicitly denied that they are recommending that the Americans intervene in Syria. In fact they explicitly cautioned against it. Israel's only concern is the transfer of chemical weapons to Hizbullah. And they will know how to act, if the need arises. The main foreign country involved in the Syrian Civil War is Iran, and their Hizbullah proxies, who are busy getting their a$$es kicked on the battlefield in Syria. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! We're just watchin' the barbecue from the sidelines.
