31. To all the "sexuality" fools
Col. Potter ,   USA   (05.05.13)
The diary is not about a sexual coming of age. It is about the family hiding about the Nazis. But then liberals can't deal with anything without unless it has an element of racism, sexuality, or homosexuality. They love to stick this on kids to make it seem normal so they can justify there own over sexualization of everything. No one said it was "pornographic", just inappropriate without parental guidance at that age. I guess you think just because kids that age know a little about something, they need to be exposed to it at every chance. What are you smoking? As far as art museums, there you go again you liberals: demonizing someone without knowing anything about how they raise their kids or it they even have kids. Well when liberals can't argue a point respectably, they just name call and demonize kind of like six graders. There was a time when kids were exposed to things later usually with parental guidance until they reach a certain age. The young were more likely to learn how to respect the opposite sex and that love entailed more than sex. Teen pregnancies were way down also and many more families had fathers and mothers. However, the overly sexualized, liberal elite are not happy until they can tell everyone else how to raise their kids despite the fact that traditional family values produced a much healthier, respectful, and productive society than the one you want to drag us into. Observant Jews and observant Christians or those of any faith usually turn out functioning, productive families that seem to have little problems with their sexuality which is exercised in a properly respectful context.
32. I don't remember reading the part when I was in 6th grade...
Alberto   (05.06.13)
...and had to read Anne Frank's book. If they JUST added those passages then yes, I believe it is inappropriate for youngsters to be reading it. If we didn't have to, why should they? Children's childhoods are messed up enough in the modern internet world. At least keep them innocent as much as possible.
33. #9 - and even if true....
William ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
did it change the facts presented in this girl's girl diary during Nazi oppression and genocide, or merely make it more readable. If the latter, do you have a point? Not really.
34. #23 - no, it would have been PG-17
William ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
US movies have become more risque and dealing with issues of sexuality recently. But I guess the way to get around hurting American sensibilities is to make all of the kids Vampires. However, there is nothing forbidding American kids from access to extremely violent games and TV, some even being glorified by the populace, which gives rise to massacres like Sandy Hook. But as long as no one mentions the labia, then you're ok.
35. #31 - so sexuality is wrong, but violence is ok
William ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
You know, these two come from the same place in the brain. Kids get massacred from a violent episode but teen pregnancy is the scourge on the country that pounds down any mention of sexuality and self-exploration as "pornography". Ever consider that Anne Frank never considered her diary to be of public record? It was a little girl sharing her thoughts to herself, on print....just like ever other teen girl does. My guess is - if you really knew what teen girls thought, you'd be horrified and work to ban their libido from working.
36. #32 - innocent or naive??
William ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
At this age, keeping information from kids who are curious and going through changes does not keep them innocent, it makes them vulnerable. While I do not support full-blown graphic sex-ed, I don't believe hearing the thoughts of a peer will damage anyone, especially since these kids most likely have had such a conversation among themselves. I do agree that the Internet and TV are a bad influence and could hurt kids, but that goes back to parents not being real parents, and not the Internet itself.
37. Self righteous Col. Potter
mea   (05.06.13)
Suck your tongue back in your mouth, roll your eyes forward and sit up and listen. Your ridiculous far right conceit is disgusting. Liberals try to tell others how to raise their kids? Give me a break! Your self righteous fundys shove your show down everyone's throats, from A to Z. All in the name of your self righteous BS. Christian fundys stats on teen crime and teen pregnancy are the HIGHEST of any sector.
38. I don't ever remember reading that.

39. 37 mea: Another sick liberal, another lie. You guys just...
Col. Potter ,   USA   (05.07.13)
can't live in the gutter without trying to drag everyone else down there with you including kids. Where did you get your stats from, your wild imagination. You're the same guys supporting rights for pedophiles in Massachusetts. Amazing, I'm not telling you how to live, and you call me "self righteous"'? Parents have a right to limit what they want to expose their children to and when regardless of what the kids may get into on their own. I find it quite telling that in light of decades and decades of more success than the current promiscuous, what ever feels good generation and the mess they got this country into, all you can come up with is AD HOMINEM ATTACKS like the true liberals you are. Like Michael Savage says, "LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISEASE." Boy did some of you make that obvious.

the kids, just guiding the way they get it so they get in in a mature, responsible, and respectful way. Ann Franks diary in not primarily about sex so why include it. That's what sex education classes are for, and they are often done unisex to lessen intimidation on those trying to ask questions. It's also why they are saved for the high school aged. Sorry if my reasonable sensibilities offend the libertines on this site.
41. Missing the point
Deborah ,   miami   (05.07.13)
Poor Anne Frank. As if after all she was going through, her memory will be demonized by some "Holier than Thou" people that will shake in horror reading about her own body exploration. Even 5 years old boys and girls are naturally curious about their sex. It s nothing to make them ashamed of or keep them away from the truth. It s not disgusting. It s biology. But again, we all lost the point. Ann Frank writes a heartbreaking Memory, while living in the some of the darkest time of the Jewish History, she wrote about her feelings, her hopes, her thoughts. Let s not forget her and let s keep her writings alive. Last thing that the Nazi couldn t take away, her print in history. In a way, that mum is acting worst than a Nazi.

43. Anne Frank Diary
Abigail ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.07.13)
You have got to be kidding. Girls in the 6th grade are haveing babies and raceing to see how many boys they have sex with. In my 7th grade class in Indiana there were four girls pregnant. I am not sure which bubble you are living in but kids now days know more about things than you and I. Furthur more hideing our heads what went on in the Holicost will only give room to it happening again.
44. Abbigale, You don't read very well nor do your other cohorts
Col. Potter ,   USA   (05.07.13)
on this site. No one said to keep it from the children, but that the parents should be responsible enough to enlighten their kids in a mature way. It has nothing to do with the holocaust. I've seen the diary of Anne Frank more than once and presented in high school. It never present this explicit sexual part of the diary although it did refer to her coming of age concerns. Wow, sticking to the subject without sexualizing it. Kind of a novel idea for some of you new agers. By the way, what bubble are you living in. Before I became an engineer I taught high school and junior high math in New York city for a number of years. I didn't have anyone pregnant in any of my junior high classes and it was extremely rare in my high school. Ever think your and others anything goes with kids attitude has something to do with the current mess we have? Didn't have it before Seems like your only answer to things is because the kids have it that way now-a-days, that's the way it is. Let the kids decide if the want to take the culture down the tubes. The whole issue underlying these comments is the abdication of parental responsibility and wanting to be their kids buddies rather that parrent. That's why we got why we got what we got now-a-days. It has nothing to do with "hollier than though", but all to do with parents acting like parents. The mess we have now is obvious, complements of all the pregnant pre teen girls in your class.
45. Passage Was Added Back
Christy ,   Boston, US   (05.15.13)
When I was in school passages like the one described by this mother weren't in the version we used. I recall seeing a brief news article a few years back stating that a new version of the diary was being issued and some passages were being added back in. Anne's father had originally removed certain passages, before allowing the diary's publication, because he felt they'd embarass Anne. Since Mr. Frank's passing it seems the copyright holders have given the OK to put these passages back in. I can understand why Mr. Frank may have wanted to omit those passages. I would too - if it were my child's diary. I bet Anne wouldn't want such a personal and private observation to be made public. I would not want such an observation included if it were my diary that was published.
46. Anatomy turned into porn...
Hanna ,   Tel Aviv   (08.27.13)
So, a child isn't supposed to have sexual curiosity even when it comes to their own bodies, obviously this is so wrong to read, but Miley Syrus stripping at the VMAs, which every teenager probably watched isn't pornography of course... this is really sad... While they are at it, ban sex-ed and afterwards do not complain why there are TV shows like 16 and knocked up.
