31. Why don't we close 50 yeshivas and kollels
jason white ,   afula,israel   (05.05.13)
all week long for the whole year? Also let us ban draft dodgers from having more than 2 kids. Put 300% taxes on all religious objects. Or just do not go to any places that cater to the dictates of the hara-dims.
32. #23 ,read again .
mark ,   ca   (05.05.13)
".. but don't force your will on a private promoter ..." Here is your answer . "..According to the agreement between the Finance Ministry, the property developer and the municipality, the Cinema City compound which is located at Jerusalem's International Convention Center parking lot and is scheduled to open in the coming months – will work only on weekdays..".
33. I'm sure there are dozens of video stores
jrebecca ,   modiin   (05.05.13)
these dozens of protestors can go to.
34. #3 &9 - you might find that supply and demand are driving
jrebecca ,   modiin   (05.05.13)
this decision. There just are not enough people who want it open on Shabbat. Hence only dozens of protestors, and a few lame duck voices in the English media.
35. # 30 seemingly you are an ignorant.
Laurence ,   israel   (05.05.13)
I never said that Israel is based on jewish law. I said that Israel is a jewish country as it is specified in our basic law :"HUMAN DIGNITY AND LIBERTY" . Clause 1 stipulates that: "The purpose of this Basic Law is to protect human dignity and liberty, in order to establish in a Basic Law the values of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state." Therefore it is well written that Israel should establish jewish values.
36. Thank you Laurence, you say it yourself
(05.05.13)
We're talking about liberties in a democratic country! Therefore as I already said it earlier, Israel doesn't belong to religious, therefore Israel is no Jewish country
37. Shabbat
Nelson ,   Roanoke usa   (05.05.13)
These people are anti-Torah..Trying to force people who work at the cinema to violate Shabbat..They are idolators.
38. to poster #7
Moshiach ,   Roanoke   (05.05.13)
Amen
39. And with reactions as those from
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.05.13)
ariel from kfar tapuach , vlad or the fake "secular" olim chadashim we should respect the charedim ? They have a "good" supporter , this goyische rivka , who wants the Jews to believe in her jesus . Tell me who your friends are , i'll tell you who YOU are .
40. laurence 35
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.05.13)
You "forgot" ....and DEMOCRATIC state . In a democracy everyone has RIGHTS . Rights to go every day to restaurants , movies , take busses . Also to believe in a "god" , to follow his laws . But not to IMPOSE his/her "lifestyle" on everyone . If you don't want to go to a restaurant , a movie theater on satudays , don't do it , but don't empeach those who WANT it to do it .
41. Give the hilonim the finger....
Stop the damage ,   Jerusalem   (05.05.13)
and they want the hand. They will not stop until Jerusalem is a second Tel Aviv.
42. Give the charedim the finger
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.06.13)
and they want the hand . They will not stop until Yeroushalaim is a second tehren or mecca .
43. Nelson begalut ! not your business !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.06.13)
Nobody will force someone to work on Shabbat . You , living begalout , can enjoy all the facilities on saturdays , but don't accept that WE , HERE IN ISRAEL , can enjoy something on Shabbat . Look at your own businenn , not at ours !
44. to # 36 and #40: you still don't get it.
Laurence ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
Democratic does not mean not jewish. Our country is jewish and democratic. Therefore Israel IS A JEWISH COUNTRY. Apparently you just don't want to considere the jewish character of our country. Wether you like it or not the jewish character of our country is written in our basic laws and you have to respect it. Again , if a private promoter is building a mall and want to apply his own rules, it is his right. It is called freedom .
45. Laurence , you don't know what democracy means
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (05.07.13)
Democracy means RIGHTS for everyone , even in a Jewish State
46. "move to Iran" crowd
Danik   (07.02.13)
My parents and grandparents in galut risked their lives for the right to remain Jewish. So don't you dare telling me that if I want to live like a Jew I have to move to Iran!
