31. #28 Assad has already proven that he is far less threat than
Gabor ,   Budapest, Hungary   (05.06.13)
whoever his successor will be. And besides, he is not a fanatic islamist, calls Israel by her name (and not "Zionist regime" or "Zionist entity") and doesn't refer to jews as the descendants of apes and pigs.
32. To: No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.06.13)
Careful. It isn't as if Turkey and its Islamist regime isn't in our sights, too. And if Syria is "virtually defenseless," why is so much of the Turkish military amassed along its border with Syria? You should be down on your knees thanking Israel for doing the work that Turkey is too cowardly -- not to mention incapable -- of doing. We run the Middle East. Now do you understand?
33. ***Sarah*** at 32...Well said, I really feel
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (05.06.13)
a sense of relief, that Syria finally has lost it's status of being the ***UNTOUCHABLE*** state sponsor of terrorism, living next door to Israel ! What did the US do, after the marines had been blown to pieces by Assads terrorists...NOTHING ! The next step MUST be Irans nuke program...YES WE CAN !
34. #28 wake up, it is either Assad or Al Qaeda!
George ,   Athens, Greece   (05.06.13)
The situation in Syria is very simple now: Either the secular Assad or the Islamofascists will prevail. If you want the second, then it is your problem. The main problem of Israel in the following years will not come from the powerless Assad clan, but from strong and fanatic Sunni countries ( Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey etc.) Tell me: During the last 40 years how many Israelis have been killed by Syria and how many by Sunni terrorist organisations? I hope you get the point. As far as the missiles you mention, you must understand that your point is very weak. They are there only for deterrence. Assad is not stupid. He knows that Israel enjoys a vast qualitative weapons superiority and can turn Syria into a wasteland in a matter of days. So , he will keep calm, just like his father before him.
35. #32 and 33: you're both wrong
Gabor ,   Budapest, Hungary   (05.06.13)
Sarah, we don't run the Middle East, nobody runs it and we will all regret the fall of Assad. Israel has borders with already more than enough islamist regimes: in Egypt, Gaza and Lebanon. We don't want one more in Syria. Assad accepts the status quo with Israel, not one shot from Syria was fired at Israel (excluding those which came from the civil war in the last months). He is not like Haniyeh, Zahar, Abbas, or Nasrallah: he doesn't want confrontation because he is not interrested in just killing jews, like Hamas, Fatah or Hezbollah. He's not a fanatic islamist, just a dictator. But all the Arab countries are ruled by dictators. So which is better for us: a fanatic islamist dictator, or just a dictator? This is why Israel should not intervene in the Syrian conflict.
36. To all warmongers
(05.06.13)
Like Sarah and Chris? Who do you think you are? You don't even live here! Nothing is going to happen. Syria is going to keep killing its citizens and Hezbollah threatening... Everything is normal here in the north of Israel
37. #34,35,36...Please spare your empty words,
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (05.06.13)
EVERYONE who does NOT understand the threat posed by Iran and it's Syrian satellite, for the existence of Israel, has no clue at all...!

stop posting your nonsense from budapest. assad is allied with the worst islamist terrorists on planet earth: iran, hezbollah, islamic jihad. assad is supported and supplied by russia. the shia terror entity has vowed to destroy the jewish state. rafsanjani clearly stated that israel is a one nuclear bomb state. the fact that assad is secular is irrelevant given his alliances.
39. 13 Gabor
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.06.13)
do you know how many of those killed were iranians? in any case, israel will always do what she has to do to protect herself and her civilian population. assad had been warned numerous times to stop supporting hezbollah and to stop the alliance with the shia terror entity. it is being reported that there are thousands of iranian terror thugs in syria.
40. #20 - "virtually defenseless Syria"
William ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
who just happens to have the most weapons in the entire region, and is the biggest manufacturer of chem weapons in the world, and has been aiding the armament of Hizbullah and oppression of Lebanese for years. Hardly seems like something a defenseless State could pull off.
41. #16, #25 - Soldiers were not target of attacks
William ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
the highly prized Iranian rockets and chem facility was. It's not coincidence however that tons of soldiers, especially from Iran, would be heavily involved in protecting that site and involved in weapons transfer with Hizbullah. They were killed due to their proximity to the target, not because of their affiliation. And this just doesn't seem like one of those incidents where Israel should drop leaflets to give the soldiers time to leave.
42. #13 - where does it say 300 were killed?
William ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
Reports from Syria say only 100 killed (and more injured), they are all soldiers, and many of them were Iranian Republican Guards. It happened on a secure facility, housing Iranian weapons bound for HIzbullah-use against Israel, and was in a crowded part of Damascus and near a presidential palace. No civilians were hurt, no civilian infrastructure was touched. The definition of a precise operation.
43. #20 - Also, Hizbullah doesn't these high-accuracy rockets
William ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
These are new from Iran, and are justified in being stopped. Also, having 10 rockets and 100 rockets might not seem like a big deal to you, but it is to our civilians - both Jewish and Arab.
44. #2 Snicker?
(05.07.13)
I snigger at what happened last century in Europe, before 1946.
45. "Alleged" Attack?
(05.07.13)
No other country in the region has the amount of sophisticated planes and weapons to do anything like this. So why say "alleged" Everyone knows that the jews did this. Or do Israelis neither confirm nor deny that they are jewish?
