1. Civil War
Bill Stein ,   USA   (05.06.13)
Then Lapid when the times come will be responsible for a Civil War
2. good idea upholds majority rule
Mike ,   Haifa   (05.06.13)
Its a good idea. Wewill kno what the majority wants. But the question is what abkut the palestinian side?
3. Too bad there isn't two yair lapids.
2Mad ,   גולה בצרפת   (05.06.13)
For we could slam their heads, one's against another's. So hard and hollow, the "gong" sound would be heard on the whole of the Middle East.
4. Of Course He wants to give the land away without interferenc
Yosef ,   Boca Raton   (05.06.13)
This leftist will turn the country to ruins. You don't believe me? Look at what is happening to Venezuela. They start with a soft left and now the government has given itself over to Cuba and its interest. Soon instead Yerushalayim we will have Al*Quds if this idiot does not get voted out of the Knesset.
5. Giving up territories for peace is a no brainer.
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.06.13)
Yair Lapid is taking the correct stand, guided by the majority in Israel. Civil war will be about kicking out Haredim and separating religion, not about such an obvious decision. The majority in Israel agrees with the two states solution, no need for a referendum. No need to waste time and money on what is obviously good for Israel. Apartheid and antifadas are bad for Israel, only the fanatics say otherwise.
6. Bibi supports it so Lapid is against it
zionist forever   (05.06.13)
Lapid has either been challenging Bibi on virtually every issue or just not discussing it with him first and this is just another example of that. A referendum is not only the democratic way forward as we don't elect individual MKS but its also the only way a government can do any kind of deal because if the government wants to do a deal a minority in the coalition can pull out force an election and kill the deal Also controls the left because if they try to be to generous come the referendum they will be voted down. If there is a referendum then the public decide the future not handful of coalition members. This is the only way forward.
7. Lapid
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.06.13)
as usual, lapid is the spoiler. bennet made a very big mistake when he aligned himself with the narcissist lapid.
8. Lapid is Omert's lapdog
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.06.13)
olmert is a crook and an incompetent. yet jpost made him the key note speaker at their conference. there is no way to understand this.
9. Predictable, unfortunately. Bennett has come through for
hippocrates ,   earth   (05.06.13)
Mapid, but lapid has not come through for Bennett. If I were Bennett I would consider what are my red lines and tell Lapid we had a deal, if lapid doesnt follow through on his end as well, than should the deal still be "on" Is there still a "deal" to be had?
10. Get the picture.
Mike Cocos ,   Brea, California   (05.06.13)
I like the picture behind Lapid
11. The Left is terrified of democracy.
Jake   (05.06.13)
12. #5, then you won't mind a referendum, will you?
Jake   (05.06.13)
13. To No. 4 in Boca
Ira G. ,   Ra'anana   (05.06.13)
Mixing Israel and Venezuela in the same paragraph is really silly. As for giving away the country, I think, while we are always listening to outsiders, those of us that live here and fought in wars and send our kids to the front, will decide what changes take place on our borders. You should really be more concerned with Mizner Park and the Chinese buffet on US 1.
14. #5.Michael: According to Obama' Court Jews
Tom W ,   USA   (05.06.13)
Soros and the Marxist Jstreet kapos working hard to destroy Israel. In the end there will be no place for these scum to escape to: they are hated all over the world. Including Israel.
15. The People of Israel Deserve the Right to decide their Fate!
Riva ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
To deny us this right is to deny us our DEMOCRATIC RIGHT to have a hand in the most important vote we'll ever have!
16. To Ira #13, but judging by the names
Jake   (05.06.13)
Yosef appears to be the Israeli here.
17. #5
(05.06.13)
Look what happened in Lebanon, Gaza, Judea and Samaria: exactly as the Right wing predicted, giving up land brought less peace and more death. It is true: to be a Leftist you have to be able to ignore reality with such confidence that it proves you are insane.
18. #13
Bill Stein ,   USA   (05.06.13)
First of all I was on the 73 war and as far as outsiders are concerned Israel is a Jewish country not a Israeli country Jews rely on Israel for their protection. Second of all if there is a peace deal along the lines of what Livni wants with 9 mile wide borders how long will Israel remain Jewish with millions of returning Arabs within walking distance of TA. For someone who has never faced Anti Semitism leave the country a wow and open your horizons
19. Yair Lapidand and Naftali Bennett a short honeymoon!
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad   (05.06.13)
20. No need for a referendum
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (05.06.13)
We already know that the majority of Israelis still favor a two state solution and giving up settlements for peace. We also know that there will be resistence and violence from certain groups of settlers. Requiring a referendum simply gives the latter greater time and opportunity for their campaign of violence and intimidation
21. Jewish democracy will end soon
(05.06.13)
unless there is a two-state solution. So a referendum that would reject the two-state solution would, ironically, reject Jewish democracy too. Such a referendum would only be good for the stupid.
22. Peace Agreements and Land withdrawal
Gideon Reader   (05.06.13)
...are too important subjects whose inpact should rest on others than self seeking polititurds, who main interests are self contained in their own universe. In the case of Adon Lapid, no shock attends his viewpoint. Expected and as corrupt as could possibly be expected.
23. Elections just a chance to pick among dictators
Tracy W   (05.06.13)
Why should the people be given a chance to decide, your politicians think, when it's so much easier to just impose new borders - whether Jews like them or not. What arrogance and disrespect for the people! And you thought you had a democracy.
24. Wow
Dwayne HInes ,   Boise ID   (05.06.13)
This flags how in the currently ocnstructed govt. basically any group can grab an issue and bury it.
25. #19...and better still, a divorce !!
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.06.13)
26. when 500,000 can be evicted - the people must have a say
Scott ,   Ramat Gan   (05.06.13)
This is democracy. We should not be like Switzerland & hold a referendum on everything, but the elitists cannot decide what's better for everyone & throw hundreds of thousands of people from their home until the nation has a say in it,
27. without a referandum there will never be peace
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.07.13)
lapid is a fool who thinks that a peace plan can be imposed from the outside on the people of israel. he and princess livni live in the clouds.
28. Israel is strong enough
Hector ,   USA   (05.07.13)
To manage a soon to become terrorist state called Palestine.
29. #5, perhaps, but giving up land for no peace is brain-less
Jake ,   USA   (05.07.13)
30. To 16 & 18
Ira G. ,   Ra'anana   (05.07.13)
I have been here since 1967. In English I am called Ira, in Israel I am called Yitzchak. So my credentials are fine. At least as good as Yosef. As for names, no one here is called Yosef. He's either a Russian or Sourh American. But who cares. He doesn't live here. As for the vilification of Lapid...enough already. I voted for him and it was the best choice I have ever made in Israeli elections. If he were to run today his party would come in number 1. He's cleaning house sof sof. Nobody is giving anything away. Both Lapid and Livni want peace and SECURITY. They both come from the right and I trust them. My point was that we will decide what is best here, and not what is best for our brethren in Boca Raton.
