1. Israel must guive de same money to IDF soldiers hurted.
Rosenvald ,   Brazil   (05.06.13)
By turkish terrorist.
2. Why dont you all bend over and enjoy it
Al   (05.06.13)
Oh how Israel has fallen. They come to kill you and you pay them compensation? You have truly become pathetic..
3. Shame on Bibi ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.06.13)
4. Why does Israel even bother with these idiots?
A ,   Belgium   (05.06.13)
They don't want compensation, they aren't going to withdraw their lawsuits against the 4 Israeli officials, and they don't want to insult their "martyrs". Isn't that clear enough? Give the money to the holocaust survivors and underpriveliged children where it would be better used and appreciated. And F the Turks, Israeli tourists can find somewhere else to spend their money!
5. #1 - no Israelis were killed but nine Turks were ..
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad   (05.06.13)
Cooperation between Turkey and Israel is very important at this time ... and sometimes pragmatism is more important that pride. Arabs beat their chests with 'pride' and look where it got them.
6. Israel has lost all of it's self respect
CHAIM SCHONBRUN ,   BROOKLYN NY   (05.06.13)
how pathetic this criminally insane self hating leftist government has become,a bunch of terrorist enemy turkish swines come to kill Jews, and thank god our brave soldiers manage to protect themselves by killing the enemy first, and what does this leftist gangster government do?,it apologizes to this jew hating enemy Erdogan, and plus agrees to pay compensation, how low have we fallen. proves once again, that leftism is a severe mental disease, and is suicidal
7. Israel did the right thing with Turkey
Mark J. Koch ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (05.06.13)
There are those who disagree vehemently with Israel's apologizing to Turkey but I am not one of them. I believe that Israel's leaders acted with vision. With Syria imploding, an attack on Iran looking increasingly likely, and with the Moslem Brotherhood controlling Egypt the only true friend Israel had left in the region was Jordan, a tiny, weak country beset by many, many problems of its own. Irregardless of whether or not people agree or disagree with the apology Israel and Turkey need each other and in the long term when there are ambassadors in both countries and the relationship is back to normal the benefits to Israel will far, far outweigh the negative things that might still be happening if the two countries had not reached a reapproachment. Rather than criticize Netanyahu I applaud him because he did what was best for Israel and the coming months will prove this.
8. a necessary reconciliation
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.06.13)
turkey and israel were allies until quite recently. turkey is a member of the western alliance. it is in the interests of both turkey and israel to put an end to the recent bad blood between the two countries. we all have very important common interests to face together.
9. Israel's pre-condition should be
Get Real ,   UK   (05.07.13)
that Turkey recognise Israel's right, supported in international law, to enforce a naval blockade of the enemy terrorist entity and to ensure provocative flotillas are not allowed to depart from Turkey.
10. RECONCILIATION=APOLOGY?
David ,   New York, NY   (05.07.13)
(1) Was it delivered heaven-sent on stone tablets that a "reconciliation" with Turkey, certainly desireable, MUST entail an APOLOGY? Of course not! The two other parties to the negotiation preyed on the PM's greatest character flaw, WEAKNESS. HIstory will show whether the apology brought the two nations closer or more probably created even greater problems for Israel (2) A further descent into the moral abyss may come as a result of Erdogan's promised trip to Gaza who, by resisting US pressure sim will be in stark contrast to the Israeli PM's shameful CAPITULATION.
11. just money
Andy ,   Canada   (05.07.13)
It is just money which is not important to Israel but an incredibly big deal to the Turkish cheapskates. Give them money and the crisis mostly goes away and bigger strategic advantages start to take form for Israel. Once Erdogan shuts his ugly mouth by having Israel's $US stuffed in it, then Israel will regain a regional strategic position that is enviable. IAI will earn more money from Turkey in a single day than this compensation will cost us.
12. They attacked the Israeli 's and getting money for it ?
rachel ,   usa   (05.07.13)
what ??????The world IS upside down
13. Stupid.
World citizen.   (05.07.13)
Paying them for what??????
14. Travesty of Justice for our "Holy People"
Roland Seener ,   London England   (05.07.13)
15. #8 you sure are naive
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (05.07.13)
There is a bridge over Manhatten I would like to sell you!
16. Cash to turkey
drdoc on-line ,   Cape Town   (05.07.13)
In comparison with loss of income to Turkey from tourism etc, the compensation will be insignificant. I will never fly Turkish air or visit Turkey, and suggest Jews go elsewhere where they are appreciated. Regarding pride that's another thing. It's better for israel to close the issue, much as I dislike capitulation.
17. Why Armenians are so quiet then? WHERE ARE THEY?
Asher ,   NY,USA   (05.07.13)
I don't care about the compensation and even the apology if it helps reunion of both governments but why world dose not pay attention to genocide of Armenians at the same time and acts as if they were not humans and it's ok to go with it. It proofs it is only a political act but not humanitarian what happening between Turkey and Israel at this point. In world of politics it's permissible if you apologize, pay compensation and any other trick if it gives you to reach a higher goal but call it Humanitarian act is an insult to intelligence of humans and who said it is not permissible in world of politics? Politics and Humanitarian acts Do Not match.
18. # 5-Nothing against Israel and Turkish deal.
Rosenvald ,   BRASIL   (05.07.13)
I see the big picture. But i think, the idf soldiers must to guet the same money. Is about respect whit IDF soldiers.
19. What?
Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (05.07.13)
Exactly what did Israel get out of this?
20. Bibi has shamed Israel
Sidney ,   USA   (05.07.13)
He apologized and now will compensate hoodlums who wanted to harm Israel. Is there not one member of his government with the integrity to say no and resign?
21. Erdogan's took his 30 pcs of Silver
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.07.13)
He turned is back on Assad for less, even with the paltry public Apology and the pittance in Compensation for Israel Pirates summarily execution of 9 Turkish civilians in Int. Waters. Erdogan is at the point of breaking bread again with the treacherous Israelis. However there is still the matter of his 3rd demand which involves the lifting of the Gaza blockade.
22. #6
Snowjob ,   Canada   (05.07.13)
Nothing to do with losing self-respect. Simple (and smart) realpolitik to accomplish a much more important end-game. Israel is taking the long-term strategic view here: a few dollars is a small price to pay for (1) Turkish reconciliation and face-saving plus (2) US/Obama happiness...which will lead to Turkey likely being a key Israeli ally against Iran and Syria in the next 12 months. Those who criticize this move by Bibi can't see the forest for the trees.
23. Compensation
RK ,   USA   (05.07.13)
Absurd! Extortion.
24. #1
Rica ,   USA/ISRAEL   (05.07.13)
not Israel, Turkey!
25. totally absurd but a business
Barney ,   USA   (05.07.13)
decision. humiliating but a business decision. a strategic move. even those who struck the deal know it is not right in the true sense of the word. right or wrong Israel is dousing an aggravating fire with pride and money. if turkey were a true friend they would not be doing this. maybe erdogan has fear of being overthrown by even more radical islamists.
26. We can be proud of this act by Israel.
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.07.13)
Lions will yield to hyena packs some time. It's a jingle out there and smart ones survive better than brave but stupid. Israel is not stupid. Bravo Israel.
27. compensation money ?
mark ,   t.a. ISRAEL   (05.07.13)
This compensation money is paid from our taxes ! Why should we pay this money since we did not elaborate this planning of attacking MAVI MARMARA ! The INCOMPETANT POLITICIAN which gave green light for attacking without consulting the MOB CONTAINING SPECIALISTS should pay ! And everybody knows who was this politician ! Even BBC which interviewed him from the first evening after the attack ! Enough is enough !
28. # 7&8
Leonard ,   Green River, USA   (05.07.13)
Absolutely correct for all the reasons you related. Furthermore I predict we will never see another incident like this again. The use of deadly force, sometimes necessary should never be used to grab headlines, or inflate the egos of the macho crowd.
29. #18 - I'm glad you see the big picture . most are myopic!
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad   (05.07.13)
Most posters' comments are myopic. You can't really pay compensation to soldiers who were carrying out a military operation; where would that end? The soldiers got treatment and would be compensated for loss of limb etc. I lived in Belem for a year ..
30. Israel is giving a trade deficit against Turkey. Not balanced
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (05.07.13)
Israel is importing too much from Turkey which is good for you & me (cheapest products thanks to competitive low production costs & freights) that's why Israel needs us. You can't feed your masses. Israel's value added hi-tech exports are good for us indirectly. Compensation is meaningless beside trade relations. Turks are building power-stations, hydroelectric dams in Israel. Israelis are buying Turkish cars. Until catching the greenbacks! 7-24 you all seek "rich fool" bride & groom!
