2. Ahmadinejad already captures UAVs
lydia ,   Brisbane   (05.18.13)
Like the US RQ170 and other spy drones Iran will take over the controls and land them safely inside Iran. They will bring down Israels UAVs with little effort.
3. drones
spookey ,   birmingham uk   (05.18.13)
best thing about them is you can pack it with missiles and send it one way no need to worry about a return journey , sounds good to me ,
4. 2.If iran is so smart, why do they have
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (05.18.13)
to highjack Israeli drones ?.and why isn't iran providing drones to their ally, bashar asad to deafeat the rebels ?.

Espcially when it doesn't kill your folks in villages at barbeques and weddings or children gathering firewood. Ask Obama.
6. Israeli UAV industry lost 5 billion order last year.
Miron ,   USA   (05.18.13)
Its value plummeted 10 times. Unfortunately it will lead to some very hard decisions in the very near future. You don't lose 2% of state revenue seed money, that are paid for rest of state projects, and come out looking like a peach.
7. unlikely to replace fighter jets so soon

Israel is now committed to purchasing the F35 as its next generation fighter and that will be in service for at least 30 years. What we should do is invest in developing dedicated fighter UAVS rather than the current generation which are surveillance aircraft but can also carry some missiles. The UAVS we recognise today are the equivalent of WW1 biplanes and if we don't invest in the future then our UAV industry will go down the toilet same way our manned fighter industry did after the Lavi cancelation. Won't be cheap but its essential to future economic success and our own security. The British & Americans are starting to develop next generation fighter UAVS so the competition is getting ahead of the game already so we must never be content with what we have developed. What we should be doing is having combat UAVS around the clock patrolling the border because its now been proven twice enemies can get UAV into Israel undetected and if armed could attack before pilots even reach their fighter jets. New technology requires new tactics.
