Kerry needs a good slap in the face to perhaps wake him up. But then, I doubt it.

It's not about Kerry!
4. Slapping Kerry in the face
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.16.13)
You think that is a slap in the face? The best slap in the face was when Obama sent Kerry to beg Putin for help in Syria, after lying to Putin about Libya. Not only did Putin keep Kerry waiting outside for a few hours like an errand boy, he made it clear to Kerry's face that he was being boring.
5. No, not a slap in anyone's face. Only proper reading of the

fundamental elements of international law related to the resolving of the Arab Israeli conflict through partition: 1) San Remo conference decisions, 1920 2) League of Nations decisions, 1922 3) UN Charter, Article 80, 1945 4) UN Security Council Resolution, 242, 1945 It is high time the Arabs and their advocates, including "Peace Now", promoted the application of the relevant elements of international law, set down at the table and talked about peace now: peace-for-peace.
6. So much for the Rule of Law in Israel
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (05.16.13)
The government's decision is another slap in the face to the rule of law and Israeli Supreme Court which has vainly tried to implement it for years.
7. Yes
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.16.13)
Yes, Right. Keep building settlements while the poverty level in Israel rises and rises...
8. #6 no rule of law
(05.16.13)
There is no rule of law in Israel. The AG and police spend their efforts destroying Jewish homes alleged to be illegal without evidence, and ignore massive illegal building in the Arab sector. The court has correctly said that Jews may pray on the Temple Mount, but police and AG ignore the courts and follow Wakf instructions.
9. We reap what we sow!
exUK ,   TEl Aviv   (05.16.13)
Our previous governments put our citizens in this position by encouraging subsidized housing or settlement under label of God given rights. They have created a monster which no-one is able or willing to eliminate.Whatever the courts decree, our politicians try,or attempt to try to find a way or reason to ignore them. For instance,if 6 dwellings will be sacrificed,we will then build many many more to compensate, always on occupied territory. Our "supreme Court" doesn't seem supreme if it is ignored. And if that is the case,we will not care about any other opinions from our neighbours or from the rest of the world. We are giving worldwide Jewry a bad name and are trading their struggle with oppression because of this, for the":rights" of the monster we have created. The silent MAJORITY seem to be of the same opinion, but are now concerned about speaking out for fear of making things worse. We have a tradition of trying to overturn any progress of peace by announcing further building in occupied land.Eventually..........well....I will not actually write what is in my mind,I'll just worry about it.
10. #7: You are so right!
Dee Bee ,   Israel   (05.16.13)
Children without food, people scrounging in the trash for something to eat, Holocaust survivors survived Hitler and the Concentrations Camps only to die of starvation or cold in Israel and a deficit of NIS 40 to NIS 60 billion and, as one commentator says "Build Baby, Build"! With what? Bibi and Steinitz broke the bank. Now they must fix it. I am not against the settlements in Judea and Samaria but they too must share the burden! We must pay more tax so Ministers can have a second driver and the Netanyahu family can go and visit the Great Wall of China and travel 5 Stars getting there? Good must be more expensive because of the extortion of the "Big" Unions that Union Boss, Offer Eini, is protecting? We should also remember that the settlers in the "illegal" settlements are the ones who spit on kich and attack our soldiers, who after all, our our children, fathers and mothers! Build baby, Build, yes, when its legal and when we have the money! As for Obama and Kerry well, we all know that they will do exactly the same as their predecessors which is get the Jewish vote and then sell Israel down the line. Obama's "Red Line" is a faded pink one!
11. Demand UNLIMITED Judea/Samaria building NOW!
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.16.13)
We are talking about the more than 3,500 year old ancestral heartland of Jews. There is no excuse for any racist restrictions against Jewish building in our land. Let every good patriotic Jew demand UNLIMITED Jewish building in all of Judea and Samaria NOW! This is our land. Period.
12. Two further issues...
exUK ,   TEl Aviv   (05.16.13)
We seem to be very proficient at trying to move Beduin Arabs who were here as far back as history can measure ,yet we seem to procrastinate about moving or denying settlement activity and ignoring the courts. One headline was "How can we make(what we know is) illegal be legal? Also when our citizens are crying out for reasonably priced housing in Israel proper and when the economy is not good,we should not have to be in a position of spending money on stuff over the line, whether it be building settlements or "protecting" people there with army, police and other resources. If you do not accept God given rights, our arguments for being there are flimsy. We cannot be surprised if our neighbours 'do not approve'.
13. to #11
exUK ,   TEl Aviv   (05.16.13)
You are obviously a settler and a religious one too.Kol Hacavod! BUT you have no consideration for anyone but yourself. You take the tern"chosen people" much too seriously. There are other folk who have lived here for thousands of years too, including Beduin,Druise and others. The present generations did not choose their parents or where they were born.Historically they belong here.In order to all continue to survive, there MUST be compromise. We have extremists on both sides. We must allow the middle of the road populations to coexist..If everyone came to occupied territory from USA under God given rights, what is to stop any other religion doing the same thing?
14. #12. You don't get it. There is no "green line".
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.16.13)
The so-called green line is nothing but an old armistice line. It has no significance whatsoever. "Israel proper" includes all of Judea and Samaria. Jordan already sits on almost 80% of the Jewish Homeland Mandate. This tiny land is ours. Every good Jew should demand unlimted Jewish building throughout Judea and Samaria.
15. to#14 Yes I get it,but you do not!
exUK ,   Tel Aviv   (05.16.13)
We were a certain size from 1948.In 1967 we expanded by capturing what is now occupied territories. In your religious or ultra zionist fervour you think in terms of God given rights and various ancient religious points on the map. However, other people have (also) lived there continuously for many years. We are all God's creation. Most people on either side who are not extremists will be content being in peace and bringing up their families and doing an honest day's work.It is only the fanatical extremists who 'want it all to themselves'.You can decide where you wish to fit in.No,I would not wish to be forced to live under Shariah law,but I would rather live in peace than in a state of probable perpetual violence. There are just 2 types of Gods creation ...good or bad,and these types are found in Jews Arabs Christians etc.The Americans, having taken the land from the original american indians, then leave their perfectly secure homes in USA to 'settle" on land which already has people of long standing there. If Judea and Samaria is part of Israel, why was it not in 1948.? We had holy sites in what is now Iraq, but we dont claim that either do we?
16. to Chaim.
e xUK ,   TEl Aviv   (05.16.13)
I dont suppose ,although you profess to caring about "the Israeli Homeland",that you ever consider the expenses of supporting settlements whilst in "Israel proper" there is much hardship and poverty and shortage of housing. You only seem to care about your zionistic ideas as they apply to you on the occupied territory.I'm sure that was not God's intention!

Birdi ,   Israel is ours.   (05.17.13)
Have you ever visited Judea & Samaria?? I bet you have not. Do stop harassing Chaim for his opinions. This is our land, all of it, every inch. It takes a special kind of person to be wiling & able to live in J & S. Trust me, it ain't no picnic. Iraq is a bit too far off our map,to claim land there! Get off your high horse will you. If you intend to live in Israel for the rest of your life, realize that we cannot be 9 miles wide. We cannot ''give back'' land that will enable your beloved buddies to shoot their missiles at Ben Gurion Airport, Tel-Aviv etc. Try seeing the bigger picture exUK. I want peace for this area as much as you do;you way is not the way, no matter how much you spin it. This land is our land. Am Israel Chai. (Chaim, ty for your constant support of the folks in J & S.)
19. # 7.
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.17.13)
Oh you are not against the settlements? You think by not aiding them, we will get out of the red? No lady, we will not. The rich, the Government ministers,Bibi & Sarale, need to ''earn'' less & give more to our poor. Every one of us needs to curb our spending habits. You ever heard of ''keeping up with the Jones?'' Many Israelis are famous for this! ''What she has, I must have." You dont have the money, you dont buy! Thats how to save, lady. The settlements need to stay as they protect us from our enemies. They are our buffer zone!
20. #19 Nonsense. Dismantle them now..
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (05.17.13)
Settlements protect us? Nonsense. The settlements are violations of international law condemned as such by even our allies whose patience with us is nearing exhaustion. Far from being a buffer, the settlements expose us and especially our young soldiers to greater risk. They are an unsustainable drain on national resources and a black mark on our Nation's soul. Gaza settlements were evacuated because they were too expensive to maintain and made defending Israel more difficult. The same is true of West Bank settlements and the majority of Israeli's will welcome their abandonment as they did our unilateral withdrawal from Gaza despite the subsequent rain of missles.
