1. More...
(05.16.13)
They didn't just post on billboards. I live close to a Haredi community. They drove around in cars with loud speakers calling all of the Haridim to come out and demonstrate: "Or else..." They used loud shofars to gain attention and blasted the announcement as loudly as possible.
2. Pls let my hard working husband come home
Au. ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.16.13)
Pls haredim stop blocking city bus route, for mu husband would like to come home from his job in Petah Tikva, and see his family. Not only he supports us, but he supports your lavish lifestyle with heavy taxes he is forced to pay every month. So please be kind enough to let him see his family tonight, even though your big problems have to be adressed too. (LOL). Btw what's wrong with learning Torah after 8 hours of peeling the potatoes or cleaning the toilets for the army recruits which risk their lives for your numerous children's sake??
3. These aren't Israelis, these are Palestinians dressed up as
Ken ,   Burma at Peace   (05.16.13)
Jews.
4. As usual some secular provocateurs among haredi protests
Sam ,   Gush   (05.16.13)
Have you noticed that? The jealousy of the secular who dress up like haredim, mingle among the crowd and cause the violence so that the media will be able to claim there was violence. Without these provocateurs haredi protests are always peaceful.
5. Haredi Draft
avraham ,   givat zeev   (05.16.13)
I am a haredi man and have lived in Israel for 20 years after making aliya from England . I dint serve in the army as i was too old when I came on aliya! I dont understand why the haredim dont want to serve in the army ! I think it is such a mitzva to serve the country !And such a kididush Hashem ! When I see a religious soldier I feel so proud ! Why is ok for the dati leumi and non religious communities to serve but not the haredim ? I cant understand it ! Perhaps someone can explain ?
6. What a Kiddush Hashem! 50,000 protestors
Sam ,   Gush   (05.16.13)
50,000 protestors (according to other sources) against the Torah haters Bennet/Lapid. That's beautiful! As long as the equal burden does not include all Israelis Arabs and others, haredim really have nothing to worry about. If anything, it's haredim who carry the biggest burden - that of learning Torah, the real protection. Without Torah, there's no way the IDF can fight the enemy.
7. Haredi Hypocrites
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (05.16.13)
"The government's edicts threaten the future of the people of Israel in their entirety…" "The people of Israel?" Hey, Haredim, how can you protest the government of a country which you ANTI-ZIONISTS DO NOT RECOGNIZE? Why not harness all your manly anti-Israel energy and unleash it at your true enemies: those who've been threatening to drive YOUR country into the sea. Foolish boys.
8. Haredim are the enemy of Israel. The Enemy of Israel is...

let them go back to Poland!
10. #5 I'll try to explain
(05.16.13)
First of all, there's no mitzva for religious Jews to be part of such an army. The mitzva might be for secular Jews who don't keep other mitzvot. If anything, for religious Jews it's a sin because it's not a holy army nor a Jewish army. It's no different than joining an English army or Russian army. Israel's army is a secular army where immorality and G-dlessness prevails and a place where between 20% and 40% of religious Jews come out as secular. This is the real purpose of Lapid's forcing haredim to join. Another reason is because learning Torah is most important for Jewish men. Dati Leumi apparently skipped this halacha and are not aware of the sin of wasting precious minutes in a secular army.
11. Don't waste our jails; remove their citizenship
Naomi   (05.16.13)
and definitely their benefits.
12. Eida sets standards of international Kashrut
Martin ,   SA   (05.16.13)
Eida sets standards of international Kashrut. Its not by chance that Eida are uncompromising. In Kashrus you cant afford to compromise on key issues, this often means excluding minor ingredients after ever little detail is checked. All the little details earn its approval/assurance mark as the International bench mark and is the backbone of food exports to America Europe and the rest of the Jewish world. Attention to detail is assured through thorough torah studies and Fear of Heaven. The government want to tamper with this united group dedicated and inspired in their Heavenly work. Check out the contribution of this brand Eida Chareidis to the economy of Israel and be surprised. They also consult world-wide to the Kashrus departments throughout the world. In effect in Kashrus alone their dedication to uncompromising detail gives them a cutting edge. They affect the lives of millions of Jews in the world directly and indirectly. The Eida Beth Din are world leaders in endeavour to ensure ongoing justice and ethics standards are maintained. The contribution is measured not only in numbers but quality of output. Their contribution to the integrity of orderly Jewish life is not by chance. It come only as a result their dedication to Torah learning day and night. 7days a week they 50,000 plus are on duty serving the KING OF KINGS. The Eida deserves the utmost respect of all Jews its government and the world for what they do as Soldiers/Servants of the King of Kings. Am Yisroel Chai

14. enlistment reform
FF ,   Brazil   (05.16.13)
they are not happy with enlistment reform no problem: leave the country. useless people. Go to Syria or perhaps Iran.
15. #9 The Torah is the backbone of Israel
(05.16.13)
If not for the thousands of religious Jews who learned Torah hundreds of years before the Zionists arrived towards the middle fo the 20th century, there would be no Israel in the first place. The Zionists should go back to Poland and there'll be peace in Israel.
16. to FF @ #14
Norman ,   Boca Raton / USA   (05.17.13)
"leave the country. useless people" Well, first we'd need to find a country with negative demographics who would want this large and fertile population. On the downside, the Arab-Israelis will surpass the Jewish-Israelis in less time if said fertile population leaves.
17. Haredi Protests
MnEd ,   USA   (05.16.13)
Living in the relative security of the US, it is clearly not my place to question the Israeli political system/policies. On this one occasion, however, I think I will not take my own advice. Let me get this straight, if I am a Haredi I receive lifetime support from the State (i.e., taxes from seculars and non-Haredi) to study Torah, yet don't have serve in the IDF? The logic being (at least according to poster #6) that it is the study of Torah, not the IDF, which is the real protector of Israel. Now I, unlike so many of the ultra-religious, don't feel I am the least bit qualified to speak for G-d. I will, however, pass on an American (I think?) parable to my religious Israeli friends: You see, once there was this very very religious, upstanding and pious man. Unfortunately, he lived by a large river. One rainy season the authorities were concerned that the river would overflow and they asked/warned the people to leave before this happened. While his neighbors listened, the pious man said he had nothing to fear as G-d would save him. Well, the rains came and the river overflowed. As the water reached the first floor of his house, the police came in a boat and asked him to get in so he wouldn't drown. The pious man declined and said he had no worries as G-d would save him. The rain continued and the water rose to the top of his house. At this time a helicopter arrived and yelled to the man standing on his roof to get in so he could avoid the flood. The pious man declined once again and said he had nothing to fear as G-d would save him. Well the waters continued to rise and the pious man drowned. When the man reached heaven he was confused and asked G-d how he could let this happen as he was such a pious man and fervently believed G-d would act to save him. G-d responded, what do you mean? I sent you a warning, I sent you a boat, I sent......

"let them go back to Poland!" You might want to check with the Poles first to see if they're okay with this.

s ,   jerusalem   (05.17.13)
what rubbish. I suppose it is the same seculars who dress up and burn garbage cans in religious areas when they are demonstrating. The ultra orthodox act like leeches and pigs and are a disgrace to my religion and country , not to mention my nation. And I am sadly thought of as one of them
21. Avraham (5) haredim vs dati leumi
(05.17.13)
Haredim = G-d's laws over man-made state laws Dati leumi = man-made state laws over G-d's laws
22. take away all their benefits
Cipora Julianna Kohn   (05.17.13)
23. haredi public
S Judah ,   Jerusalem   (05.17.13)
Most of the haredi public did not take part in the protest because leaders like Rabbi Steinman, the Belzer Rebbe and the Gerrer Rebbe, currently favor quiet dialogue with the authorities over open confrontation.
24. study and work
#15 not against they ,   Brazil   (05.17.13)
haridim can study ( torah )and work and draft like most people in Israel. It's a abuse they think that they can have as many kids as they want and the zionist will support them. The laws in Israel is to everybody.
25. just cut the money and help of the government

28. Cold blooded insanity
M.Federman ,   Baltimore, M.D.   (05.17.13)
These Hareidi sit most of the day obssesed with the Bible, the Tanakh a black people's biblical narrative. Just think about it, they are pimping the known world and give new meaning to welfare fraud. This is tantamount to treason, an able bodied citizen refusing to defend the country in which they live in. Any other nation these people would be jailed. Israel, the U.S. subsidizing a lazy body of people that sees not a work ethic nor the courage to defend the country. It would be no crime to put these people, these leeches out of Israel the country that is at this hour is contributing to this pyschosis.
29. Have you noticed how police deliberately brought
(05.17.13)
police women among the haredi men to bring on the violence. I mean, you have to be blind not to see the cruelty of the secular police in Israel.
30. Haredim Protest
Roxy ,   Israel   (05.17.13)
If they take the time away from Torah studies to protest being treated as equal citizens of Israel and even throw rocks then they can certainly take the time to get jobs to support their families and stop living off the rest of us!
