1. Solution ???
Mike ,   NZ   (05.17.13)
Only one solution ... capture one and take it back to Israel for analysis .
2. Israel will not allow herself to be annihilated
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.17.13)
israel will defend herself regardless of what putin and obama want. these two were made for each other.
3. Putin
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.17.13)
putin is a kgb thug. he supports two of the most dangerous terror states in the world. the fact that he orders the murder of russian dissidents on foreign soil puts him in the same category as iran and the assad regime.
4. Netanyahu failed
Harold ,   USA   (05.17.13)
I told you so. Putin will never accepts Netanyahu's demands. Make it short Netanyahu is USA friend and Assad is Russia's friend. Syria already has the Russain's advanced weapons and so is Iran.
5. Solution ???

6. No Problem
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (05.17.13)
As soon as they delivered, Israel should destroy them.
7. No worries
(05.17.13)
Putin gave Bibi the countermeasure.
8. Israel the cowboy
Joe Asfoor ,   Burke, USA   (05.17.13)
It is funny how Israel gets panicky when Syria tries to find the means to defend itself against Israeli incursions! If Israel is worried, then it should stop its overflies and bombings. What is good for the goose should be good for the gander too, cowboy!
9. Russia don't want to hurt her good name to supply terrorists
Jouko ,   Finland   (05.17.13)
10. I could have told you so
marv   (05.17.13)
Putin has some good points dwarfed by bad ones. Though he appears to be good with animals, and knows how to make order, his knowledge of economics and international trade is shallow. He is quite untrustworthy. Anything israel tells him goes straight to assad and nasrollah. Israel should not be selling israel sensitive equipment as in the past.and it should look to destroy the s300 should it become operational; it should create some distance with putin who the russians will throw out in the next 5 years as they are tired of him, and his autocratic tendancies. Bibi wasted his time with the russian trip. and making peace with the arabs won't stop aggression. It will continue until the arabs feel they can kill 100,.000 jews and throw the rest out. That is the way it is. Bibi's time is over and shouldl make way for new leadership.
11. Libya
Devorah   (05.17.13)
Why isn't the narrative regarding the U.S. weapons transfer from Libya to the Syrian rebels being discussed in any of these articles?
12. Israel is getting in way over their head, hey you deserve it!
Ken ,   Burma at Peace   (05.17.13)
13. dead pilots
Kobe ,   au   (05.17.13)
what address do you want the ashes of Israel's pilots sent to?
14. There is an obvious way around S300
Daniel   (05.17.13)
It is called traget saturation. It pretty much means that when the war starts, Israel has to launch every missile at its disposal, have the interceptor batteries exhaust its payload on those missiles, and then send the gunships in. A lot of people on the receiving end will wind up collateral damage as a result. I wonder what contingency does Putin have in place because if S300 batteries are overwhelmed and destroyed, he will have hard time selling any more of them.
15. Military Industrial Complex
Zechariah   (05.17.13)
Eisenhower leader of Allied Military Forces in WW 2 and President between 1952-1960 very popular with the American people said beware of the military industrial complex and the desire for Power and Influence still Rages between the USA and Russia more Egoistic Nationalism Than ideological so Netanyahu had an uphill battle the Balance of Power and Obama as predicted is a good man but not a Warrior .The Ruthless Realapolitic he hates tho grudgingly goes along. The results are looking dangerous the Arab Divisions are becoming Really Dangerous and Very Toxic
16. Haredim ought train advanced Hatzollah
Zechariah   (05.17.13)
The Haredim ought be integrated into the Homeland Defence as a Hatzollah Rescue
17. Still the Evil Empire!

18. #6 Precisely, #12 Not so much
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (05.17.13)
#6, that's exactly what I was thinking. Russia doesn't really care if Israel destroys the weapons after it's made the sale. So Israel just needs to wait till the weapons are delivered & the Russians are clear & then strike. #12 - The reason that doesn't make the news is because it doesn't fit the typical narrative of praising Obama and his administration's decisions. Had it been Bush, we'd never hear the end of it. I'd also say that it's quite possible that the US feels more comfortable with the weapons headed to Syria where Israel can monitor them instead of heading off to other extremist groups that are harder to keep track of.
19. Disaster
Phil ,   Toronto   (05.17.13)
This system can detect Israel's fighters upon launch an can hit them while still flying in Israel. It is considered, as far as is known, undefeated kr in a meaningful way.
20. Hmm, interesting
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.17.13)
I see yet another military storage facility going up in flames in Syria's near future. They are slow to learn .... so Israel will keep teaching.
21. Joke
Alex ,   Los Angeles, USA   (05.17.13)
This Russian bruhaha reminds me of an old Russian joke: A Russian general gives a presentation at a military academy. He sighs and says "yes, a 3rd world war is inevitable. But we shouldn't despair and should all take lessons from Israel. 5 million Jews against 300 million Arabs. And they beat the Arabs every time." A young cadet raises his hand and asks "Comrade general, where we gonna get so many Jews?"
22. Russia: Will sell S-300 to Assad
jacques ,   nsw   (05.17.13)
Weaknesses and strengths We know, we know how to handle when the other gets angry
23. They only said they would honor the deal
Steve ,   Lala Land   (05.17.13)
I bet you as soon as tehy take delivery they start to have all kind of problems.
24. Israel errogance and overestimation
Sami ,   Lebanon   (05.17.13)
You enjoyed couple rides over Syria and destroyed couple weapon depots .Now what? the price for this joy is too high. Syria got the Israel nightmare weapon S-300 operated by the Russian directly and Assad open up the Golan front for an war of attribution to the specialist Hizbollah. Have fun with your egomaniac Netanyaho.
25. Russia is pissef of !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (05.17.13)
The Lies of the Wesrt regarding Libya is just One reason. If the West fails to Honour their own Words, why should Russia do ? Arn.
26. #8 joe, #12 ken
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.17.13)
Why are there Israeli incursions? Why overflights? You probably don’t know that Syria has attacked Israel again and again and again, from the beginning. (yea, right) Read some history.
27. Assad is drowning in Syrian blood
Conroy ,   Toronto   (05.17.13)
I wouldn't worry about it. Assad's days are numbered.
28. No. 8
(05.17.13)
For Israel the ability to launch a preemptive strike is crucial to its survival. The lessons of the Yom Kippur war is too costly for Israel to ignore. It is facing various threats from all sides. Keep in mind that its enemies' declared long-term aim is the ultimate destruction of Israel and what is keeping them from starting another war is Israel's cunning and ability to be one step ahead of its rivals. With the current situation in the middle east what is good for the goose is not always good for the gander.
29. Israel has already shown the S-300 is worthless
Levi ,   Karmiel   (05.17.13)
Now Russia forces Israel hand to make Russia's weapons look like childs toys. Israel tried to save face for Russia. By the way Israel already proved they can Jam the S-300's guidance system. This will be bad for Russia military sales.
30. Just a bit too late for Cossacks & Baathists
Cameron ,   USA   (05.17.13)
Syrians are proving none too good at protecting & maintaining airfields and military installations from insurgent attack these days. They'll do no better preventing these S-300 batteries from being overrun or destroyed by Sunni rebels.
