6. And we're surprised why?
Barak ,   Toronto, CA   (05.17.13)
Yes, because we thought that one of the crazier of the crazed Muslim countries of the world we're going to have free and fair democratic elections where women and minorities were not only able to vote, but to run for office as well. This isn't North America, Europe, or Oceania. WE believe in certain rights that THEY don't. Get a clue.

stand in trying to be on the list of presidential candidates. It is a beginning that woman in Iran are pushing for equality. One day !
8. Women in power tend to become misusers of authority.
Rivkah   (05.18.13)
Consider Janet Napolitano who as the District Attorney of Pima County, Arizona, refused to prosecute a car thief who stole a car that was in a locked garage that he had to break into, because the keys were in the car that was locked in a garage. Then as Governor of Arizona, she told ranchers along the Arizona-Mexico border that if they cleaned up the 3 foot deep human manure on their property from illegals trespassing, the ranchers would be prosecuted for disturbing a crime scene. Then as head of the Homeland Security Department, the psychotic Janet Napolitano who belongs in an insane asylum to protect the American public from her misuse of authority, ordered nearly 2 BBBBBillion hollow point bullets that are banned by Geneva Convention in warfare and thousands of armored vehicles and bulletproof stations for roadside attacks on drivers. Is she going to shoot everyone in America many times over? She is an example of why women should not be in positions of high authority except for extremely rare instances such as Baroness Margaret Thatcher of Britain who was not a misuser of authority. Benghazi should keep Hillary Clinton from any other high public offices since her tendency to misuse authority is legend. Iran at least is right in keeping President races confined to males since that rare female like Margaret Thatcher or Deborah of ancient Israel has not emerged from the people.
9. Women of the Wall, Part 2
Danny ,   London England   (05.19.13)
If WoW are genuine freedom fighters let them now visit Tehran and protest discrimination against women.
10. Reply to number 5, Lisa in Israel
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (05.19.13)
The difference is that Israeli elections have 35 political parties, of whom 33 do have women candidates, but Iran seems to have no political parties. The ayatollahs pick the candidates. Just by the way, remind me, who was the last lady president of Israel? or the last lady USA president?
11. 686 candidates
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (05.19.13)
686 cxandidates, but where are the political parties? Is it a one-party state where the supreme council picks the full range of candidates people are allowed to vote for? I suppose the same supreme council counts the votes, so why bother having an elelction?
