It's hard to believe that people can get so riled up about so little. I believe the issue is more the fact that the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the United States doesn't know military protocol. United States Marines are not the president's valet corps. I note, for the record, that the president did not call on the Secret Service. That would have been the appropriate thing to do. It is, after all, their job to protect the American president. I should think that extends to holding an umbrella over his head when it starts to lightly drizzle. How fast do you think it would have taken one member of the president's detail to have secured umbrellas -- and holders of said umbrellas -- for the president and the visiting head of state? I'm guessing -- oh, ten seconds or less? Most importantly -- thank you for your service to the United States of America and the people of the United States.
