1. This essay really duplicates the obvious.
Robert Haymond ,   Teko'a, Israel   (05.19.13)
Yes, our very success means that enemies will continually strive to enact terrorist tactics but what the writer did not say is that we, too, have not only the ability to uncover, through our intelligence, the planning of attacks but also the ability to disengage the enemy. Not only can we manage in a military way but we also have our own corps of counter-subversives who can enter various Arab villages and cities and disembowel the enemy. That the need for excellent international publicity is noted, we may also conclude that in the Hasbara area, Israel has been lacking but since recognized, it has picked itself up. We will have our own outlet, much like AlJazeera, quite soon.
2. Israel's major asset
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
israel's major asset is the jewish mind, honed over thousands of years of fighting enemies while learning talmud torah.
3. the shia terror entity must be destroyed
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
they are the ones who finance, train and arm syria, hezbollah hamas and islamic jihad on a regular basis. they are the ones who routinely threaten the very existence of israel while building nuclear weapons.
4. #2 Another important asset is arab disunity
A ,   Belgium   (05.19.13)
Although arabs are united in their verbal aggression against Israel, when it comes to a fight there is no unity, since for them, lying is a natural and accepted behaviour. This was proven when Nasser, daddy Assad and King Hussein boasted to each other about their great achievements and victories against Israel, while the Egyptian army abandonded their lines and ran away, Jerusalem was liberated and the Syrian air force burned on the ground. If the arab/moslem nations ever could unite against Israel, than it would not be an easy fight for Israel, but for now, we have "palestinians" who would nuke Israel if they could, the bearded baboons in Lebanon and Iran constantly boasting about their abilities to annihilate Israel, Assad with the rope tightening around his neck but still pointing missiles at Israel, etc. Israel should use this disunity, lying and distortion of anything resembling truth to the best of its advantage.
5. Don't forget to cast out "God with us" on the belts
Miron ,   USA   (05.19.13)
6. Totally bogus
Smith ,   Herzeliya   (05.19.13)
The author is either a liar or ignorant because anyone who is capable of even amateur research knows that the IAF strike on Osirak didn't "eliminate" the Iraqi nuclear program. All evidence shows that after the attack the program was dispersed across Iraq (something the Iranians copied) and accelerated. What eliminated the Iraqi nuclear program was the American bombing campaign in the First Gulf War followed by crippling sanctions, and a tough inspections regime. Israel at best delayed Iraqi efforts. It's time to put this myth to bed before we permit our government to do something really stupid.
7. major asset is no guarantee
Mark B. ,   Amsterdam - Holland   (05.19.13)
That may be true, but it is not a guarantee for survival and/or victory. The jewish mind did not see the Holocaust coming, even after centuries and centuries of anti-Semitism. Hope all Jews keep that in mind.
8. Except
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.19.13)
Last night on Channel 1, senior analysts discussed this issue and pointed out that as long as Assad can deny that Israel is responsible, these attacks can protect Israeli interests. The problem is that in the last attack, the Obama administration publically blamed Israel. Such blame makes it impossible for Assad and Putin to ignore the attack. The only question is why did the Obama administration take an action that pushes an Israel/Assad conflict and brings Israel close to conflict with Russia.
9. Israeli air strikes prove our illegal aggression on others.
Rachel Rabin ,   TA, Israel   (05.19.13)
10. Israeli air strikes confirm our arrogance, illegal behaviour
Rachel Rabin ,   TA, Israel   (05.19.13)
It's time we start thinking strategically in the context of what's happening in the ME and the World, and to realize that we need to find peace with the Palestininas. By 2050, one third of the world will be Moslem. Peace with Palestininas NOW will allow us to re-build bridges and ensure that we have good relations with that one third of the world. After all, we live in that same neighbourhood.
11. Why did Obama name the Israelis for bombing Syrian arms?
Barry ,   Tokyo   (05.19.13)
Because he has Islamic sympathies. Obama will do anything to maintain his power base, even if this requires him to suck up to Netanyahu and Israel. He's the great deceiver.
12. #5Miron: presumably you want the belts to match your skull&
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.19.13)
bones caps? Und vhere in ze US do you vant us to zend dem to?
13. Our might and our power
Yoni ,   RBS   (05.19.13)
Our only asset is our Father above. Dont be blinded by success and fancy weapons systems. Only a fool would look at our history here since 1948 and arrogantly delete Gods role from it all.
14. Destroy Iran's nukes NOW!
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.19.13)
The article makes many good points. There is no excuse for waiting till Iran's Mad Mullahs have functional nuclear bombs to use against us. Destroy Iran's nukes NOW!
15. No. 6
(05.19.13)
you can't argue with success, the osiraq strike served its purpose, i.e. destroy the nuclear facility and eliminate what then was a credible threat to Israel's existence. Israel did what had to be done. There are a lot of what ifs considering Saddam's madness had Israel acted otherwise.
16. if shelly were pm hezbollah would have missiles hitting ta
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (05.19.13)
17. Unprovoked attacks fill Arab world with "a terrible resolve"
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (05.19.13)
"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." -- Isoroku Yamamoto (1941)
18. Horrid Rachel Rabin is a modern Tokyo Rose.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.19.13)
Rachel Rabin signs herself as an Israeli Jew. There is no way of knowing if this is true or not. If it is not true, she is simply a vile garden variety Jew hater. If it is true; horrible Rachel Rabin is a modern Tokyo Rose. Condemning Israeli attacks designed to save civilian lives is just too despicable for words.
19. 8 israeli israeli
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
obama will always undermine israel as much as he can. he despises israel, her success and her independent spirit.
20. @18 & 12 if you are scared of Miron and Rachel
Miron ,   USA   (05.19.13)
you have a lot to fear. By the way. Everyone who is at war with Japan or any other country in the world, including Syria, welcome to step from behind Israeli civilians, you are using as a shield and clearly mark your location so that Syrian rockets do not confuse normal people with a bunch of terrorists who have nothing to do with Israel.
21. As such Yes but -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (05.19.13)
I Quote - For this situation to be possible, Israel needs to keep and develop two key assets: Its ability to collect and assess vital intelligence regarding its neighbors’ activities and a command and control structure which enables swift, rational and democratic decision making. Comment - - There is an other option - a complimental One - and that is To make a full Preemtive strike. Arn.Sweden.
22. benasslick - russians say:
HaifaGuy   (05.19.13)
Tongue in cheek albeit: Don't wake up my inner beast for it will get up and run away! Equating Arabs and the US is the lamest thing you've done so far in ynet tb's.
23. Miron & Rachel are contemptible. Not scary.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.19.13)
Miron and Rachel are contemptible in the same way Tokyo Rose was. Not scary.
24. An example of Chaim's and Tom's Western bred morals
Miron ,   USA   (05.20.13)
Twenty-year-old citizen of Netherlands, some Sirin Schriber, who admitted guilt in attempt to kill 11-year Russian Nikita Onishchenko faces potential sentence of 20 years in prison. In case he succeeded in murdering child Greece law, where crime took place, provides lifetime imprisonment. As it was reported in the Greek press Thursday evening 20-year-old hotel entertainer Sirin Schriber, who admitted to inflicting more than 20 knife wounds to Russian boy whose laptop and smartphone he tried to steal, appeared before the local prosecutor. Currently animator detained at the police station located in Heraklion. The investigators note that the allged criminal clearly confessed of the crime, how he first stole things and then attempted "to get rid of unnecessary witnesses". They note complete lack of any remorse in Sirin Shriver. He says he pleaded guilty only because Nikita Onishchenko survived. Had Nikita died he intended to keep the laptop and the smartphone and hide the body. "I confessed because I learned that the boy is alive" local press quoted the words of a man whose occupation was hotel child entertainer. The only consern the Sirin Shriver has expressed in custody is lunch menu and day of his release. *** My suggestion your dudes run to local prosecutor and ask for as lenient sentence as possible while you still have time. The crime of bringing war on nations at peace has no lenient punishments in any nation's book.
25. Israeli air strikes invite a response RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (05.20.13)
I realize Assad wants to avoid war with Israel does not want a two 2 front war but perhaps a two 2 front war is better than just a one 1 front war Russia would support him more he would look like a legitimate defender of Islam Syria rather than a mad dictator attacking his own people Israel is inviting a response a war with these sudden surprise air attacks against hardly important targets time alone if this is a good and or a short sighted action any way such is life in 2013 RIGHT ??? Thank You... M.S.
26. #23, insults is the best logic your brain can come out with?
Ramzi Jaber ,   Palestine   (05.20.13)
27. #22, YNET staff prints benasslick? Sad. Sick. Racist Haters.
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (05.20.13)
28. #27. Don't blame Ynet, you should be grateful
A ,   Belgium   (05.20.13)
that they continue to even post your anti-Israel, anti-zionist, anti-Jewish drek . Maybe the National Socialist Workers Party is alive and well in Silver Springs, Minn., but don't expect much love and support here, except from a few of your American colleagues maybe (who still seem to be struggling with the English language). You might want to check out "Blood and Honor", they may be more receptive to your scholarly and knowledgeable opinions about the Middle East, Judaism and Israel.
29. #28, Before me YNET was 100% right wing nut jobs like you
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (05.21.13)
A, Belgium...why do you hide the fact that you are an illegal settler?
30. #29 I don't have to hide anything, Benazzi
A ,   Belgium   (05.22.13)
I was born in America on stolen native American land (Chicago) , but my grandparents couldn't know that when they escaped from the shtetls, I lived for a time in a community in the Israeli area called Samaria, and now I live in Belgium, which I don't know if there is anything illegal about. So what part is illegal? And I certainly dont fart out my mouth and talk out my a$$ like you and certain of your American National Socialist Party wannabe colleagues do when discussing Israel or the Middle East.
