1. Mommy, haredim are making too much trouble today
GG   (05.19.13)
With their new card game they're imitating the Zionists racism against them. These haredim are destroying inappropriate ads hanging along the holy city of Jerusalem causing great damage to the immoral image of the city. What's next? Don't they know that we Zionists thrive in mud, the filthier the better? In fact, I'm worried for these haredim, who are desecrating the name of the holy one, the blessed one, by trying to live a holy life in the Jewish state. How will they be admitted into the world to come with their religious attire and heeding the commandments of the holy one, the blessed one?
2. It's the secularists that cause the conflict.
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (05.19.13)
In their ever ending need to enlighten the 'primitive people of Jewish faith'. Islamic faith they tolerate, not Jewish faith. They do so in the media, on the streets, in the schools and everywhere a religious pokes their head out of their community ghettos. And, then the secularists have the gall to claim religious Jews are running their lives.
3. Defacing private property.
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.19.13)
They refuse to be a part of the country, to share in the burden or to work as we all do but continue to push for a Jewish Afghanistan. NO! We will not accept this.
4. Deliberate Secular Provocation
SecularProvocation ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.19.13)
I am secular but the entrance to Jerualem is entirely Haredi on both sides of the street are huge Haredi populations that have to cross that main entrance. It seems to me having lived here in Jerusalem for 35 years that many times the secular culture mavens deliberatley create "storms" maybey its good for business and "liberal humanistic" left wingers can create even more racist hate for the Haredim Give us a break we who live in Jerusalem know what goes on sadly the rest of the country doesnt and believes these stories without any background.
5. Wanna bet they were Neteuri Karta!
Wise Saba ,   Western Negev   (05.19.13)
They are outcasts in the haredi world, sum bags.
6. Before someone suggests nuking Mea Shearim let's assume that
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.19.13)
we'll have to live with these phenomena for a while longer. We have learned to live(&die) with Arab terrorism without really doing anything about it, so until we devise a way to castrate religion and render it impotent in regard to Israel's daily, secular life we sure can replace a few posters. The means to win this culture-war must be of fiscal kind. Once they realize that any monetary support from the "Medina" (that some of them despise) is dependent on them behaving well, they'll stop this juvenile foolishness. No biggie.
7. So what ? come on, get on with your life
hadad ,   u.k   (05.19.13)
and stop this none sense war against the Haredim. We are fed up. look around you , you will find enough things to write about. rather than poisening our mind with such useless articles
8. Price Tag - They act as though they already own the country
Stan ,   Israel   (05.19.13)
Maybe we will have to start spray painting the doors of their shuls.
9. in order 2 deface her, they had 2 look at her! hypocrites!
(05.19.13)
(betcha they got off on it 2!)
10. #1 Costume yes. But Haredim make mockery of mitzvot!
Thinking Jew ,   Israel   (05.19.13)
11. #4 Stockholm Syndrome
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (05.19.13)
Your comment made me sad. You've been living among them too long. You've been brainwashed. Highway one is a public highway, it is not provocation to put a poster on a public highway.
12. #4 The roads dont belong to the ultra-orthodox
Israeli grandma   (05.19.13)
There is no justification for destroying those public posters. These are not lingerie ads, which even totally non-religious people found offensive a few years ago in Gush Dan. Just because there are ultra-ortho neighborhoods in the area does not mean that normal posters should be banned. There is also the simple act of not looking up at them. What could be easier???
13. Haredim? NO ,hooligans...
Mayim ,   Israel   (05.19.13)
The same week,a TEEN [ a secular boy] attacked Arabs If he was Haredi, the headline would not be a TEEN but a Haredi boy attacked Arabs. The genuine Haredim are fine people. The evil ones don t fear G-D and do not deserve to be called Haredim [G-D fearers]
14. there is nothing modest about that poster.
hanna ,   jerusalem israel   (05.19.13)
15. Sorry #6. They do NOT accept benefits from the "Medina".
Mo ,   Jerusalem   (05.19.13)
Sorry #6. The Ultra Ultra Hareidim pay Taxes like you and I. THEY DO NOT ACCEPT ANY BENEFITS FROM THE “MEDINA”. They Pay Bituach Leumi for Medical Services. They Pay Arnona for Municipal Services.
16. Don't like women? ...they have a parade for that...
OK ,   Jerusalem   (05.19.13)
17. #1-- You didn't capitalize "The Blessed One"?
WhoIsNumberOne? ,   IL   (05.19.13)
Your lack of capitalization is disgusting! It's an outrage! How *dare* you avoid capitalization of The Holy One Blessed Be He Who Sits On High And Watches Over His Holy City Jerusalem Amen Amen Amen! You will have to join the rest of your foul, piggish brothers in an eternity of pain. True Jews know that you must ALWAYS capitalize The Name Of The Holy One Blessed Be He Who Sits On High And Watches Over His Holy City Jerusalem Amen Amen Amen!
18. 99% of Haredim
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (05.19.13)
99.9% of Haredim have better things to do than deface innocuous theatre posters. Haredim in NYC and London use public transport with dozens of theatre and other adverts and are barely aware of it. Vandals need to be arrested. There is no excuse for their behaviour.
19. who really cares...
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.19.13)
with all of our enemies trying to kill us and send rockets and suicide bomber in to us, have we nothing better to do than to get bent our of shape over a few creeps? come on now, Jew, shape up and forget the infighting and concentrate on the real enemy, the enemy without.
20. # 2 Paul from the Teliban
Haim ,   TA   (05.19.13)
Last time i checked it was 2013, if the sight of a women fully clothed in an advertisment is to much for you i suggest you get help.
21. #14
iselin ,   Oslo, Norway   (05.20.13)
The girl on the poster isn't exactly going topless or bottomless. Are exposed knees immodest? To whom other than you (how about to the rest of the civilized world)? If you answer yes, then you really have too much time on your hands and should get a life.
22. #11 &14 A man is chasing a"schoogirl"
PornOnTheHwy ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.20.13)
Would you be saying this if it offended Moslems or any other group that values modesty a man chasing a woman dressed in what looks like a little girls school uniform is a form of pornography its a variation well known and reported on as a form of child pornography In Norway no one expects you to know the difference but Golan Heights where are you coming from ???????? I doubt many secular Jerusalemites are happy with it but the media moguls keep pushing it on us .
23. #11 No its because of secular blind hate
TelABluffers ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.20.13)
Its because I and the rest of the country have witnessed some of the most horrendous racist hate against the Haredim worthy only of Nazi Germany much of it in the form of Meretz electoral posters which the Haredim had the good sense to collect and an exhibit of them depicting them as black shadows Remember Ron Cohen describing them of "black insects" bet you dont probably would have agreed with him Hate of the Haredi is racist and if there is anyone who needs to get their heads straight it you elite Tel Aviv humanists who are anything but !
24. #14 Norway is civilized"??! Pagan u mean
PaganNorwayLives ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.20.13)
Norway and Scandinavia in general are no longer capable of knowing what is civilized behavior and have totally revereted to their Nordic Pagan culture which is basically an anything goes sort of anarchy slowly eating them away as they are quickly invaded by other barbarians with like ideals "Civilized"!!!??? hardly
25. This is embodiment of the saying:"to a person equipped only
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.20.13)
with nails everything looks like a hammer". Obviously to a pious mind everything that includes a woman brings thoughts of "Oh la-la...."!
26. Does pagan mean being polite?
iselin ,   Oslo, Norway   (05.21.13)
People are generally polite in Scandinavia. They keep their own space, don't bump or touch other people. They speak in a normal voice, don't shout, don't use the horns on their cars unless absolutely necessary, don't shove in the bus queue. Those are indications of civilized behaviour. People don't behave like that in Israel, at least they didn't when I was there. This is a very orderly society, and if that is what pagan (most ethnic Norwegians, while nominally members of the state church, are basically secular humanists, do not take the Bible literally, and generally have a live and let live attitude) is, then it is admirable.
27. #26 the Nazis were "polite" too on the surface
uTheClassicalRacist ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.21.13)
"Polite" often hides a lot of dark feeings as did Nazi Germany a type of neurotic behavior interesting to know if you say the same about Arab and Moslems in Norway I am sure not. Scandinavia known for its ice cold personality culture except when under the influence of alchohol of course then "polite" Norway evaporates doesnt it . You wont find any Quislings here or "polite" Norwegians who "politely" looked the other way as their local Norwegian Jews were led to the death camps and "politely did nothing to stop it.
28. #23 You have a persecution complex
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (05.21.13)
Your letter exemplifies language abuse. To equate Meretz with Nazi Germany is the same as comparing the Hebrews to the Philistines. Meretz does not advocate genocide. It doesn't kill women and babies. They don't throw stone. It's not that anyone hates Haredim. We just don't want to support them anymore. Feel free to live in your ghettos. Just don't bother us.
29. Haredim are right !
MARIAN ,   Romania   (05.21.13)
Haredim are right ! when you inhabit or visit a holly town like Jerusalem you don't expect to get hard watching this indecent theater hanging all over the Holly Town !
30. to 27
iselin ,   Oslo, Norway   (05.22.13)
So you don't like politeness, because it hides a lot of ugliness. You would rather be around rude people, which of course is easy where you live. Good news: WW2 is over. Now you can go out and see the world, just be sure to keep your place in the bus queue. You may even lose that big chip on your shoulder along the way.
