Not long ago the Americans were evaluating the Protector but fitted with Israeli made wire guided missiles which they were considering purchasing. We are the biggest exporter of unmanned vehicles and we have the second largest unmanned vehicle industry after the US so lets keep investing in vehicles for land sea and air even in areas such as unmanned fighter jets which will be a chance for us to make up for the loss of our manned fighter industry with the cancelation of Lavi.

Sorry but your wrong about this being a joint project its an all Israeli one. The US has started to develop their own USAVS now but Protector was the first and it was 100% domestic. Considering the fact that Israel is the worlds largest exporter of UAVS and only the US has a more advanced UAV program I wouldn't have thought that Rafael needs American help on this. Its also not a super expensive project like a fighter jet. The US was evaluating the Protector to protect their warships from incidents like what happened to the USS Cole before when it was the only USAV in existence as the US had not yet got into USAVS.
