First of all, congratulations to the lady on being accepted for the internship. However, can anyone please tell me "How many speeches have been made in Yiddish at the UN in all the years of its' existance?" So why should that language count?

What a great achievement for beis yaakov schools-so proud of you ,This is truly amazing.Hareidi kids have as much potential as others to reach great heights.Let's stop bashing them

I think the point is that in whatever language a speech is made, it is translated by UN translators. There are also times when diplomats wish to speak directly with each other, and might need translators then as well.
7. What group does she belong to?
Scarborough1414 ,   Scarborough, ON   (05.27.13)
When you say Hareidi, you conjure up images of black-hatted, bearded fanatics who gather in large groups and scream and yell slogans against anyone they don't like. This girl's family sounds far more progressive than most. They're probably Orthodox, but not Ultra-Orthodox. Studying Chinese would be considered a bitul zman (a waste of time) to real Hareidim. True Hareidim study Torah, pray and make more children than they can afford. Hareidi women are either constantly pregnant or taking care of domestic chores while their husbands study gemarah (Talmud). Naomi's family sound far more "of the world" than REAL Hareidim. Not that I mind, I'm happy for her, but she is more than likely NOT really Hareidi. I'd like to know what group she (and her family) really belong to.
8. Notice how the U.N. building in NYC is shaped like an AX?
Rivkah   (05.27.13)
A communist AX at that. And it's charter is word for word the old constitution of the former Soviet Union. Let's get out of the U.N. and stop supporting its communist goals.

What the @%$# are you talking about? You are so off the mark that it is laughable! Most Haredim keep to themselves and aren't in the least bit fanatic, unless the fact that they believe in G-D makes them outlandish to you. While a lot of Haredi women are having many children, they mostly work, quite often in fields like hi-tech, engineering, accounting... Please keep your lack of knowledge seperate from your hate, it makes you sound dumb.
10. She needs to decline the internship since diplomatic
Rivkah   (05.27.13)
immunity makes the diplomats and all their workers from their home countries there immune from prosecution for crimes commited in the USA which are too numerous to imagine. This woman will be raped and no one will be charged. Her honor and her father's name will be defiled and that is what U.N. service is for a woman. That is what military service is for many if not most women in the US military, too, since there are so many foreign nationals working on US military bases wearing US military uniforms who are immune from prosecution for crimes. There are so many unprosecuted rapes at and around US military bases that the little Naval Air Station at Lemoore, California, has three full time rape crisis counselors to explain to victims that the crimes against them cannot be prosecuted in military or civilian courts because of diplomatic immunity. Better to be holy than to work at the unholy U.N.

I don'y often applaud the UN, but I'm willing to make an exception. Well done!

What does it matter-you seem to have such a strange view of the hareidi community-almost a peculiar view based solely on your prejudices-the hareidi worldview is not black and white -it is multicolored with people working or learning/large families or small ones/those who scream and those who don't-so stop being so inquisitive hoping "your sort"of hareidi was the one chosen

You have an overactive imagination to the extreme. Your "facts" are fables and remind one of out-and-out lies told about Israel and Jews. Better to be quiet than post such fairy tales.

I am the Canadian Rep for the college Naomi attends. We have 4000 students and 1700 are Haredi men and women studying technology, engineering, business and accounting. Aside from knowing Chinese, Naomi considers herself to be typical of our Haredi students. If you'd like more info, please email me. Thanks, Shimon
