1. There is a reason
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.23.13)
They know that Israel will not be giving them something for more nothing and Kerry can't force anything. The fact is the President will be spending the rest of his term dealing with Congress and possible impeachment.
2. First Build Economy
Zechariah   (05.23.13)
Both Israel and Palestine have a lot of poverty an unrecognized strength of the Haredim is they can tolerate it large unemployment low drugs low violent crime some very bad antisocial behaviours but a lot of the 20-24could learn stuff a doctor does not start earning till 24.
3. ... and who will hold the Palestinians accountable?
someone else ,   sydney   (05.23.13)
'nuff said
4. It's either progress towards peace or ICC
Rachel Rabin ,   TA, Israel   (05.23.13)
I hope my government chooses the first.
5. Hope Kerry Fails
Bill Stein ,   USA   (05.23.13)
I hope the talks fail the 67 borders are suicide borders Annex Area C
6. Kerry's "mission" #1
yosef, phd ,   usa-israel   (05.23.13)
To add a reason: These "negotiations" were and are the most idiotic, hypocritical waste of time in recent diplomatic history. The guaranteed "result", as always will be another blaming and demonizing of the Jewish state, as the universal excuse for every failing of the falastyn innocent, peace-loving aspirations...
7. "an independent state requires building the economy",
A ,   Belgium   (05.23.13)
so says Mustafa, but the "palestinians" would first have to relinquish terror against Israel and be prepared to negotiate with Israel without preconditions or demands. They obviously have other priorities, though, begging for handouts and remaining the violent parasites that they really are. As Ashrawi says, "we have our own plans". So does Israel...annexation and Transfer!
8. In a nutshell
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (05.23.13)
Half of those tired out old guard in the PA would prefer the Jet Setting Lifestyle fritting like busy busy bees from one 'International Forum' to another rather than getting down to business of nation building They would rather buzz round the realities than deal with them And the reality is that however much we may not like it we are interdependent by our very proximity and building a State requires slow deliberate hard work on both sides instead of the expectation that Israel will by a lot of global trumpeting will suddenly cave in unconditionally to all our demands Get real and get talking
9. #7 You will have to transfer me and a few
Readytodie ,   Israel   (05.23.13)
million other Jewish Israeli's to Joradan too. Try to get it through your head that the majority of Israeli's are sick and tired of the settlements and all of the problems they bring. If we want to remain a Jewish state then we have to give up the settlements, recognise Palestine and be done with it. Else we have to offer citizenship to the residents of the occupied territories and lose our national Jewish character. "Transfer" is not an option and only someone who has no sense of our recent history would date to suggest it. Its nutjobs like you Chaim, SarahB etcetera and worse ones on the other side that are causing all of the problems.
10. #4. Leftists seek to scare Israel into surrender.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.23.13)
#4. As every sane person knows, the worst possible motive to make any decision is fear. Yet you continue to try to scare Israel into making stupid, self destructive decisions by sewing fear. This is absolutely contemptible. Israel was not created, after 2,000 years, to bow down to cretinous leftist fear mongering. This land is ours. When you own your land, you fight for it. You don't let others claim it by lies and intimidation. The vast sane majority of Israel won't submit to your contemptible fear mongering.
11. No U.S. President ever deserved impeachment more than Obama.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.23.13)
Watergate, which ended the Nixon presidency, is a walk in the park compared to Benghazigate, in which Americans died. And Obama's use of the IRS to harrass conservative opponents. No U.S President has ever deserved impeachment more than Obama.
12. #9 Try to get it through YOUR head
A ,   Belgium   (05.23.13)
that arab terror against Israel began long before the LABOR government started building "settlements". Where would you like to recognize "palestine", Tel Aviv, Haifa, Modi'in (is that also not a settlement, Baraks' baby actually), Eilat? Jerusalem is also not important to you? Is that why you would be so anxious to try your luck in Jordan, or is that your definition of "Jewish character"? Sorry, but I see that part of Jewish character going up the chimneys in the concentration camps, the naive belief in appeasement. Modern Jewish character means defending what little piece of Israel there is against ALL the surrounding hostile moslem countries, including the "palestinians". And I have enough knowledge of "recent history" to have seen first hand the results of the disaster called Oslo, trying to "appease" the arabs by withdrawing from gaza and allowing it to become a base to launch rockets and terror attacks against Israel. Blaming the "settlements" (I lived in one, and I am NOT religious) are only a weak excuse for those who refuse to face the truth: there is NO REAL PEACE to be had with the "palestinians", or with any arab countries for that matter, as their goal is to transfer YOU into the deep, blue sea.
13. #12
Ben David Shlomo   (05.23.13)
Apart from the middle east, jews were offered a large slab of Uganda for their "home of the jewish people" which would have had a better outcome for world peace, other than relocating all those Europeans into a hostile Arab community. Nes pas?
14. #12 it's not appeasement, it's sanity
Readytodie ,   Israel   (05.23.13)
All six former heads of the shin bet, irrespective of their political affiliation, believe that the Israel's west bank policies are, in varying degrees, illlegal, immoral and irrational. The world agrees with them --so too do a great many Israelis from all but the extreme right. We did not leave Gaza as a unilateral act of peace but as a tactical move. We were well aware of the power struggle and what most likely would and did happen when we withdrew. Abandoning the settlements when we did saved a lot of Iraeli lives and made it much easier to defend against and respond to terrorism from Gaza. The same will be true when we leave the west bank.
15. #10 stay home and shut up
Readytodie ,   Israel   (05.23.13)
You are not even an Israeli --you are a little kid from Queens and you dare to tell me what I and my children should die for? I love Judea and Samaria --I hope that someday we will be able to live there legally but we cannot do that now and I am not going to sit back and let others put me and my children at risk. It's enough.
16. #4 The ICC might be better for Israel
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (05.23.13)
The Israeli government has been misleading us about the legality of the settlements for years --and they can't admit it for various practical reasons, not least of which is they would not be able to use them effectively for bargaining chips in negotiations. Perhaps an ICC ruling is needed to force the government into action.
