1. Hooray for Netanyahoo
Dror ,   Emeq Yizrael, Israel   (05.26.13)
He actually pulled it off, good job. Now, Israel should stay the hell out of the conflict. No more direct open strikes, let Syria burn using it's own fuel, we do not need to add any fuel to their fire.

Knee jerk reactions posing as commentary are proof that you are pathetic.
3. @1 Dror you missed the point boyo - completely
Ferdinand Nerkel   (05.26.13)
Israel has never wanted any inclusion in Syria's civilian war, but cannot afford to sit idly by while dirty and/or advanced weaponry is transferred to elements bent on using them on her, namely hizbulla. Think! And Putin or anyone else who thinks that Israel can ignore such threats as a result of simply agreeing not to supply Asshead with advanced rockets - is just as naive. What ever it takes, Israel going down!
4. Actually ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.26.13)
Israel doesn't take its marching orders from Moscow. What likely happened is that Prime Minister Netanyahu made it quite plain just how badly Israel can hurt Russia in other areas. Ossetia comes to mind. The Ingush come to mind. The Chuchkis come to mind. Netanyahu said "heel," and Putin sat right down in his tracks. That's the natural order of things. Ben Gurion International Airport never came up in their conversation, of that I am quite certain. But other things did. Putin opted for caution (wise choice) over adventurism in Syria. Syria isn't really a problem for Israel, and Putin knows it. Now everyone else knows it, too.
5. Spaciba to the Russian-Jewish Businessmen!
Jew ,   JewLandia (Israel)   (05.26.13)
I really don't think that Netanyahu had anything to do with this. I really think that the Russian-Jewish Businessmen (who some call "Oligarchs") took care of this. As children and young adults those Russian-Jewish Businessmen had contact with Lubavitch/Nativ and remembering what they received they decided to assist Israel in her hour of need. No, it isn't Netanyahu we need to thank. It is the Russian-Jewish businessmen who love their mothers whom we need to thank. and so Spaciba to you gentlemen!
6. Let's hear now
MR   (05.26.13)
what all the oiberhuchems who hurried to say that bibi came back empty handed have to say.
7. 1 Dror, agreed
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.26.13)
however, one hopes that assad is not so stupid as to attack israel. the shia terrorists are fighting for their lives. no one can tell what they will do. if they attack israel, by whatever means, israel will have no choice but to defend herself. hezbollah and iranian thugs are fighting alongside the regular syrian army and there is no way to predict what they will do.
8. Sarah B u r very funny 2day!
(05.26.13)
9. Thank you President Putin!
Cynthia ,   USA   (05.26.13)
I think you should also consider pulling your scientists out of Iran's nuclear plants and joining the west in sanctioning Iran.
10. Refrain from further attacks on Syria?
Mira ,   Vienna   (05.26.13)
What is Putin talking about? We never attacked Syria, we attacked an Hezbollah weapons transfer to Lebanon. If that happend on Syrian territory rises the question: Why is Hezbollah roaming around in Syria?
11. So "who did it"?! God through oligarchs or Bibi or money?
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.26.13)
12. So far it has only been minor provocations
Dror ,   Emeq Yizrael, Israel   (05.26.13)
If the incidents of cross border fire become more intense than we should also increase the intensity of our response. Tit for tat. Assad does not want an open war with us or Turkey. Fighting and weakening the hezbalonim covertly should be our aim. If they start an open war with us then we should bomb Lebanon back to the stone-age.
13. Russia already fulfilled the deal. Rest is fiction.
Miron ,   USA   (05.26.13)
14. Regarding about rebels... Israel konws what she needs to do.
Miron ,   USA   (05.26.13)
15. By subduing Israel Putin shows a lot of wisdom.
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.26.13)
It's a win-win situation for the great powers and Israel to cool down all the conflicts in the Middle east. Putin has the global picture in mind and plays his Israeli card wisely. I am sure Netanyahu promised to cooperate, now that his Centrist coalition is much more bent than the previous one on working toward achieving peace in the region. A step in the right direction, bravo.
16. Obama outsmarted, again
(05.26.13)
For still unclear reasons, Obama decided to help Sunni Jihad take over the Middle East, a reason that he and his allies armed the Sunni terrorists against Assad. Assad has always been a brutal dictator and archenemy of Israel, supported by Obama and the Israeli extreme Left (Peres, Barak, Yehimovitch), but in this case he is the good guy, fighting against Obama's forces to prevent genocide. Thanks to their superior intelligence, Putin and Ahmadinejad managed to to foil Obama's plan, though at the price of 100,000 dead. Putin knows that the Turks, Saudis and Jordanians are cowards who will arm terrorists but not fight themselves. He knows that now Sunni Jihad's only chance is American intervention (not possible with S-300s deployed) or Israeli intervention in exchange for Obama promises.
17. The Russians has understood !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (05.26.13)
This is no win-situation for Russia. To go further with the deal with Syria, will force Israel to Military action against Syria. Arn.Sweden.
18. A lot of misinformation being spread!
Son Of Cyrus ,   UK   (05.26.13)
I guess we will have to wait to find out what actually has transpired.
19. Russia and Israel
EmunaDate   (05.26.13)
Who knew that Russia cared about Israel and their civilians. This is news to me.
20. Who's paying $800m?
Mark ,   London, UK   (05.26.13)
Added to Syria's debts to Russia? Surely Assad can't still have $800m to spare. Where will the dosh come from to rebuild Syria. Will the Syrian refugee problem last for 65+ years? All boils down to Arabs being unable to sustain governments not based on tribal indentities.
21. Israel never stops targeting Hezbollah RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (05.27.13)
I realize that such a overly sophisdicated weapons simple hardly is your every day rocket missile mortor round the cost is high well above what Hezbollah can afford and so any way guarantees from Israeli prime ministers are worth less than Zimbaubwe $ dollars and so I think that Syria Israel should go to war with each other a patriotic war would be a good image builder for Assad then he can show he is not just a anti Democrat bully brute outt to rule Syria and so have a monopoly on the power and so the treasury Syrian money it might help to clear the way for a truce even with the Rebels opposition RIGHT ??? Thank You... M.S.
