1. Seems to me if it was OK in the Day of Joshua and Moses
Galut ia ,   Selah   (05.27.13)
it is OK today ..... just saying
2. Lubavitcher Rebbe's stance
dave ,   safet israel   (05.27.13)
"Your blood isn't more red than the other person's" says the Talmud. The Rebbe told this to a duel citizen who kept changing his passport to evade the draft. The person was married and working. For yeshivah boys who wanted to enlist in the 1973 war, the Rebbe stopped them, saying the yeshivah was like the IDF's computer center, where the war is really won. Bottom line, it is forbidden to stop learning, because that is what really protects Israel. But if you aren't learning, "your blood isn't more red." That's why I served as combat soldier with five kids until aged 45+. But I started after yeshivah.
3. Animal Farm Equal but Different
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (05.27.13)
Is the average citizen who pays taxes consulted on the law? Why are the Haredi any different? Are they superior to us. Is that why they get the lion's share of the budget, more accessibility to scholarships in higher ed? I'm sick of it. I don't hate Haredim, I just don't want to pay for them. I'm sick of their demands. I'm sick of their moral superiority. I'm sick of paying, paying and paying. while at the same time I'm accused of being a sinner. I'm sick of them passing me in the supermarket queues and bank queues. I'm sick of standing on the bus while they sit. comfortably. Many people on this forum will accuse me of hatred. I don't hate, I just don't want to pay.
4. Equal sharing the burden for all citizens
Moshe ,   Israel   (05.27.13)
Equal sharing the burden is nothing but a bluff. - Arab citizens don't have to share - Tel Avi "elite" citizens don't have to share - Hesder citizens only have to share for 16 months - But haredim have to share for 3 years. Anybody who doesn't see the bias against haredim is blind or just plain an anti-haredi.
5. Well said, Arielush (#3)
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.27.13)
6. #1 Trying to compare apples and tablets.
Moshe ,   Israel   (05.27.13)
Was the army in the time of Joshua and Moses also corrupt, immoral, anti-Torah and anti-G-d?
7. Wild goose chase...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.27.13)
if trying to enforce rules by force instead of by understanding.
8. Uri Ariel should be in Shas, not the government
Naomi   (05.27.13)
9. #4, start with the biggest problem first
Danny   (05.27.13)
What is the ratio of funds received vs taxes paid by the Arabs? Or the mythical TA draft dodgers?
10. Yalla G'var La tzavah ya chmarim
Dror ,   Emeq Yizrael, Israel   (05.27.13)
Good for all of the Haredim that have already enlisted. The issue is closed. There will be a draft of the Haredi. All those that want to avoid military service and have not recieved one of the 1800 exceptions get your toochas on the next flight to Canada or to the US of A., don't come back to visit soon. Have a pleasant flight.
11. All Israelis are equal but some are more equal than others!
Dee Bee ,   Israel   (05.27.13)
If you don't prosecute Haredim and Arabs for not serving then you cannot prosecute draft dodgers and anyone who just doesn't want to serve, protect and defend the country that protects them, educates them, feeds them and allows them the right of freedom! If the security of Israel is not important to you then what the hell are you doing here? Go and live in the Diaspora but don't come crying home when the persecution starts!
12. According to Gemara, Peri, Lapid and Bennet are ignoramus.
Moshe ,   Israel   (05.27.13)
With their actions, the entire Yesh Atid group as well as Bennet's followers fit perfectly and are 100% qualified to the Gemaras description of an "am haaretz" (ignoramus) of Torah. Their hatred towards talmidei chachami, of those who learn Torah, have no boundaries. This, according to Gemara (Kesubot p. 17), is a real "am haaretz".
13. 12 Moshe ,Bennet is trying ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.27.13)
to moderate the Yesh Atid s extreme demands about Haredi draft.
