They should be enlisted just like other citizens, but I do not think all of them, and that every citizens should be enlisted. When I volunteered for the IDF I saw that many soldiers do not have "job" and especially women are very bored and have no works to do. They were using their Galaxy and iPhones all the day. And they were bored and hated their service. I think drafting so many people (these are not combat units) make more budget than they provide. They get payment, food, uniform and so on, but what they do is not worth it. I personally do not think that 180 000 active soldiers are needed for the IDF, when actually 30 000 soldiers could easily deal with Arab enemy. I think 100 000 soldiers and 100 000 reservists would be enough, though I'm not a military expert, but I saw that you guys waste a lots of money. :(( and even many food were dropped to garbage!! :O

why not just tax everyone who chooses not to serve and fund benefits for the families of those who do serve with the funds...also if religious served maybe women could be exempted from fighting for them

Since a failure to deal with the situation within one term has passed by and people are upset about the tax hikes Lapid will not get another chance.
