61. Move Slowly but Steadily.
Zechariah   (06.02.13)
It's obvious Israel is dealing with Fixed Belief People even those who Believe Learning and Praying Protects soldiers The State of Israel and a Pious Life .Yet the Resentment of the IDF is there as shown by Yesh Atid strong showing Some Haredi units want to participate having respectful centres Males who speak Yiddish and explain both Prayer and Pragmatic Ability Protect the Haredim and the state ought enrich a number of Haredi. .
62. Joshua Judges 7;5
Volvi   (06.02.13)
Go learn your Tenach. In Shoftim 7;5 where God instructs Joshua to select his army that Hashem will deliver Israels enemies to. Hashem orders that they be tested by how they drink water. Those that knelt were excluded! Those that brought water to their mouths were chosen for war. Why? Because as you know the reasoning was those that knelt had less or no Yirat Shamayim you could almost say seculars by todays definition, but those that were chosen were dafka those that feared God which in todays terms may be referred to as religious. Did Yehoshua's 300 army complain but hang on we should be learning not pick up the sword? So your whole mentality is utterly wrong, lahefech Israels army should have those with Yirat Shamayim and that includes YOU. and stop trying to shirk away from your responsibilities not only to Hashem but the Land of Israel. Influence our army to be more God fearing and help them and all of us in being victorious. Thats the way you serve Hashem. The whole Yeshiva mentality is Golus and made up, remove the golus from within you. Ever wonder why that world was destroyed only 70 yrs ago? Could things have happened without Hashems consent? Geula will never have been possible with the religious who would all prefer to stay in galut even another 10,000 yrs. It took the seculars to kickstart geula and now its time for you all to step in and take part...and thank the seculars who enabled you to fulfil Hashems desires.
63. Coincidence?
Joseph ,   London UK   (06.02.13)
It seems the day I read the Perry plan to interfere with the Israeli Yeshivah world I also read that Russian missiles had arrived in Syria and could reach Israel. In Jewish thought Divine Providence is no coincidence.
64. Ora 56 .
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.02.13)
If there are NO charedi officers , it are the charedi themselve who are to blame . There are women who are , even hugh ranking , officers . Bu they studied some very necessarry subject , while charedim wasted their time with inutile torah "study" .

Haredim. 2]Complete fiasco of Tora rejection. Tora world was never as big as now. 3]Tora has perpetuated the existence of our people during more than 3000 years. 4]Biggest threat to Jewish State are Arabs. In short, In false theories, the opposite is true.

30% of the officers in Tsahal are religious today, though not haredi. Maybe even some are haredi. To mark thora study as useless, nobody can affirm this. The Jewish faith is the glue that holds a people of diverse cultures together and allowed it to survive 2000 years of exile. It doesn't mean that the way the extreme fringe of orthodoxy is taking is right. On the contrary , they are dividing the people.

Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.02.13)
Pioneers were children of charedim ? so what ? You were NOT charedi , but your child [ ren ] is/are . Some people leave religion , they are smart . Others NEED a religion to make them behave , or because they have not goal in their life otherwise . Or , for desendants of charedim , they were brainwashed since their early age . Tora was never so big as now ? making many children is not difficult , it's to feed and educate them that is . So they have many children , who for most of them live in poverty . Is that your "big tora world" ?

Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.02.13)
I answered Ora , and it was about charedi officers , not simply religious . Exept for some who become teachers or great scholars , i can't affirm that Torah study is utile . As i said , not only religion kept the Jewish people together , but the non acceptance of Jews in the "goyish" society , or simply antisemitism .

ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.02.13)
thank the Secular ,but the Secular should not disparage the Haredim, who through their Tora study and prayers kept the longing for Israel persistent during the 2000 years of exil
73. 72 Ora wrong again: Haredim only date back to 1830s
Restorer ,   Israel   (06.03.13)
Torah keepers perpetuated our identity. Haredim are Torah tramplers, not Torah keepers. While Torah keepers have everything to do with having perpetuated our identity for millennia, Haredim attempts to take credit for it are more false teachings.
74. 63 Coincidence?
Israeili Jew ,   Israel   (06.03.13)
I read about Stern bill and R. Yosef fell down.
75. 73 "Haredim" in the Israeli press...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.03.13)
is the same dirty word as "Jew" in the foreign media. Actually ,there are as many different Haredim as there are different Jews. The meaning of Haredi is G-D fearer=Tora keepers. i agree with you that the latter perpetuated the Jewish identity.
76. 75 The haredi press
robert ,   antwerp belgium   (06.03.13)
Just read in the haredi press the way they write about hilonim, traditional and national religious people. It's much worse! They consider everybody except themselves as goim

robert ,   antwerp belgium   (06.03.13)
Of course I am 100% against hatred between Jews, whatever their way of life or beliefs. That's why I have always written in any comment that solidarity is of utmost importance. But when you write that haredi is the same in the Israeli press as Jew in the foreign media, which is bad, I reply that the haredi press is not so nice either and both are wrong!!!
80. Robert 79
Charles ,   Petach Tiklva   (06.03.13)
"solidarity is of utmost importance" you wrote . Fine , but it has to come from ALL the sides . Hatred among Jews ? how many times wasn't i insulted for driving my car on shabbat ? In my birth town , were you are living [ Ora is also from there ] Charedim in the Israeli press ? Does the press need to stay silent when charedim hurl stones at cars or police [ the same thing muslim youth are doing in the Turnhoutsebaan ] Or not to show hateful charedi faces opposing a Gay parade ? Only two examples .
81. 79 Robert,Who was first,the chicken..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.03.13)

robert ,   antwerp belgium   (06.03.13)
I am against hatred and bad behaviour between Jews no matter where it comes from, wether haredi or hiloni. It is part of the job of the press to report such excesses. The limit is when it becomes incitement to hatred. Sadly there are today politicians or Rabbis that hold such speeches that they should be punished by the law. The law should be the same for everybody on that issue as well as the army. It's a matter of survival
83. Robert
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.03.13)
I think that seculars are more tolerant . I have never heard of a secular father rejecting a child who became religious , or worse , charedi . I iknow personnally two cases where a charedi father rejected his children who became secular . One of then even sat "shiva" . I've never heard that a secular insulted a charedi for going to the synagogue . I did'nt see any anti charedi demonstration when they blocked a street for a big funeral . But have seen charedi demonstrations against the Gay parade , with hate in their eyes . And the Gays were not even parading against the charedim , but for their own rights , and not in a charedi neighborhood of Israel's Capital . A charedi who came to live in front of my house asked me , as a friend , to abstain from driving my car on shabbat . I replied "as a friend , don't require this from me . We remained in good relations . And it was in your town , not in mea shearim .

Robert ,   Antwerp Belgium   (06.03.13)
I would say first the Haredim who chickened out and then got egg in their face but it is not nice to speak like that. Better should both haredim and hilonim cook scrambled eggs together. It's one country

#2, As far as the charedim are concerned, they should not have to answer to self-hating Jews such as those living in Hitler's birthplace. Western Europe believes that they brought humanity to the world. hahahahahhah!

87. 84Robert Scrambled eggs?..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.04.13)
i suggest a reel treat for Secular and Orthodox Jews feasting Shabat altogether, THE BEST you can do with hard boiled eggs [stubborn people] a traditional Shabbes delicacy.... Chopped eggs with onions .
88. Haredi Bashing
Yitz ,   Jerusalem   (06.04.13)
Unfortunately though nothing new it has become very "in" to hate on the Haredim. Maybe its the army or taxes or child or yeshiva stipends or their old fashioned ways and wanting to preserve the Jewish traditions and laws in the "Jewish" state. And sometimes its for all reasons and more but I think while some points are valid that doesn't mean that all points are true about all of us in the "haredi" community. Case and point I was rushing up a street in the center of Jerusalem this past Friday to get to my car before the meter ran out. And I passed a street fair and sale outside of some bars off of rechov Yaffo. Well this guy dressed in a sort of old style full body swimsuit yells out at me "haredi get out of here this is a mixed beach" or something to that affect. Funny because other then my black kipa none of my clothing (a polo shirt and blue jeans) suggested haredi. At the bank a few weeks ago some older guy says to me "are you ready for the army to take you away". Well, I am ready but I don't think they will come since I served in combat and do miluim... just because someone wears a black kipa doesn't mean you know anything about them.

ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.04.13)
simple minded people .

Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.05.13)
Is your story about being insulted only there because i tell TRUE stories , and you also wanted to have some "story" to tell ? The way this guy was dressed tells much about his "sanity" i think . When i hear a fool shouting , i don't play any attention to it , not to take seriously . Yes , charedim are bashed because of the behaviour of many of them . I never heard a authorized charedi voice condemning some acts , like this spitting on a girl [ only the boss of Zaka spoke out against it , if i remember it well ] That there are Charedim who act very well is without doubt , Zaka , Yad Sara , and so on , were created by Charedim . But would they continue their great work if it was not for awaiting a reward in the "olam Haba" ?
