Any country, where one group of people reign supreme over others although all are citizens cannot be anything else other than racist. This racism and hatred is embedded in Israel's own laws and policies for decades while proclaiming itself to be "the only democracy in the Middle East." So no, it doesn't surprise me. What surprises me is that the world tolerates it and permits Israel to get away with it.

Israel was established, in the aftermath of the Holocaust, to be a safe haven for Jews. That was the purpose, declared by anti-Semitic Western countries which felt compelled to show that, while they had done nothing to oppose the Holocaust, ,they were not complicit in it. Within Israel, the "safe haven for Jews", are Muslims whose religion calls for death to infidels, non-believers in Islam. Muslim clerics regularly issue Fatwas calling for the destruction of Israel and death to Christians and Jews. A country which is populated by people who call for death to its Jewish citizens can hardly be a safe haven for Jews. Although the rest of the world would erupt in condemnations, it would be very logical and reasonable for Israel to outlaw the Islamic doctrine of death to infidels, Christians and Jews. Politically correct One-World advocates who refuse to see the wisdom of such a move should contemplate what the world reaction would be if Jewish clerics declared a Jewish religious call for death to Muslims. Christian religious leaders have the choice of endorsing a ban on the doctrine of death to non-believers in Islam, or, they can continue to watch as the growing persecution of Christians in Muslim countries creeps toward Jerusalem.
