"mellow" and loving everybody around. One cannot have that, when there are so many Infidels to be killed! When one swings that knife it's best to savour every second without piky haze on one's brain.

In Cairo one can order alcohol for home delivery. While the nightclubers are upper-class people you still find an old scene of small and dark bars in Cairo, where old lower-class men in galabeyas drink and listen to old popular music. You can drink through the whole society in one night.

The ancient beer production in an Egypt that was neither Arab nor Muslim, and Arabic was not spoken in Egypt. Most Egyptians are non-Arabs whose ancestors were Arabized through a conquest that saw them lose their own religion and language. Today is today, and they have taken their conqueror's identity as their own, but Egypt was a very different country with no Arab or Islamic connection when beer originated.
