In Cairo one can order alcohol for home delivery. While the nightclubers are upper-class people you still find an old scene of small and dark bars in Cairo, where old lower-class men in galabeyas drink and listen to old popular music. You can drink through the whole society in one night.

Most Egyptians are non-Arabs whose ancestors were Arabized through a conquest that saw them lose their own religion and language. Today is today, and they have taken their conqueror's identity as their own, but Egypt was a very different country with no Arab or Islamic connection when beer originated.
