1. Galliano should be kept on the radar,
Devorah   (06.06.13)
but it's time to move on. I suspect he thinks about the incident every day. But do we? No, because we have much bigger, and much more important, fish to fry.
2. 2 thoughts
no forgiveness   (06.06.13)
1) Alcohol is the oldest and truest truth serum... (dang) 2) True colors never fade. Nice try pretty boy.
3. Once a racist always a racist
john ,   israel   (06.06.13)
What he said about Jews wasnt a light racist joke, it showed some serious signs of him that he is actually a hateful person. Blaming it on drugs and alchohol is just a way for him to get out of it. The only things drug and alchohol so is inhibit your ability to block the real thoughts that are in your head. Nice try buddy but I dont buy it.
4. LOL! He might be right!
Mira ,   Vienna   (06.06.13)
Antisemitism certainly has got something to do with brain desease!
5. Hopefully there'll be other designers willing to save the
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.06.13)
day after Galliano.... I have a feeling, that we shall not wander this Earth naked for the lack of tasteful clothing?! It is amazing how psycho-babble makes attempt to explain away EVERYTHING!
6. As a matter of fact-some of his best friends are Jews
Alan ,   SA   (06.06.13)
7. Poor Galliano needs to pay up
Zuriel ,   Holon, Israel   (06.06.13)
even though i feel sorry for him making those anti semitic remark, then apologising, we as Jews have as a minority to get our respect thru the media and thru anti defemation actions, we need to remember- the world and media is watching and so, we must respect all others regardless of racial or religious conotation. peace.
8. i believe him, respect and give a chance
steph ,   yaffo   (06.06.13)
watch his action, all man can change. if u dont get that, youre a slave
9. Forgiveness
Ronnie ,   Australia   (06.06.13)
If what he says is true then he has found grace. Forgiveness should be extended from all. Only he can walk in his shoes.
10. compassion
yakov ,   nahariya   (06.06.13)
One thing I notice about ynet readers is an apparent total lack of compassion. I notice however that it is the same vindictive nasty people who comment day after day, always eager to prove our 'superiority'. I am one jew who is willing to accept an apology from a someone who was man enough to make one .
11. When they have Alcohol Problems & Mental issues...
Froike ,   Baltimore   (06.06.13)
They always rant and use the Jews to "heal" themselves. Jews have always been used as the "scapegoat" or "whipping boy". -- Its not our fault if they have these personal issues. If you look beyond their layers, you always find some some sort of crazy lifestyle that went on in their past. I rest my case.
12. is he french or british?
ghostq   (06.06.13)
maybe he is both, or neither. anyhow he need to be zapped.
13. Galliano

14. This was a very particular kind of slur
Brian G ,   Toronto, Canada   (06.06.13)
If you recall, Galliano took one look at the women sitting a table nearby and, based on how ugly they appeared to him, expressed his desire to see Jews sent to gas chambers. And those women weren't even Jewish! His rant wasn't about Israel, it wasn't about Jews controlling the media, it wasn't about Jewish bankers, it wasn't about Jews killing Christ. It was about exterminating people he considered physically repulsive. That's more than a mere slur. That's an elemental, instinctive hatred that can't be cured by a stint at a rehab center. And it's not a brand of antisemitism that gets much discussion. Antisemitism is usually explained by offering reasons that involve religious belief and ritual, geopolitics, history, or the behavior of Jews in positions of power and influence. This episode should remind everyone that so much of antisemitism is rooted in an instinctive hatred of a stereotypical physical appearance that is widely considered alien and repulsive. It's also an interesting comment on how shallow and superficial some people are, and how those qualities go hand in hand with heartless contempt. Galliano is obsessed with physical beauty, and that's to be expected given his profession, but what an indictment of his humanity that he could harbor such animosity for those he considers less than beautiful. In my opinion, Galliano joins a long, lamentable list of famously antisemitic creative superstars, such as Richard Wagner, Mel Gibson, Wyndham Lewis, T.S. Eliot, Roald Dahl, and so on. Their work may be unimpeachable, but their hatred is undeniable, and I don't think it's amenable to treatment. He should continue creating and sharing his gift, like the others on the list did, but his reputation will be rightly besmirched for all time.
15. Hes ok
charles ,   Gibraltar   (06.06.13)
Galliano is from Gibraltar. He has plenty of jewish friends and was brought up surronded by an orthodox jewish community. His family are well respected and he is NOT a Neo Nazi. He may have been very drunk... and was talking shit which he didnt mean.... I wouldnt be surprised if he has been to barmitsvahs and jewish weddings... and given donations to jewish causes... Basically... he's not a a bad man... but his actions that day... were wrong... but we all can see he was extremely drunk... and just messing around.
16. Don't we wish all anti-semitics would humbly apologize?
Mea   (06.06.13)
I congratulate him on the success of recovery and I welcome him back into the fold because he has sincerely accepted responsibility for his past.
17. not only do i believe him but i belive he has made since ame
ralph   (06.07.13)
amends. and we should forgive and move on together.
18. he pooped where he eats and now he
Barney ,   USA   (06.07.13)
is sorry. don't doubt that he had substance problems but does that make you an anti-semite. if you get drunk does it make you gay? if you get drunk do you become a white supremacist? as the late great Frank Zappa said "you are what you is-you is what you am- a cow don't make ham"
19. Mr. Galliano
Mae White ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (06.08.13)
How do you know his "recovery" was successful? Pffff...he's whisked off to rehab...and all's well! If he is sincerely repentent we should see him devoting his energies- creative and material- to rehabilitating what he besmirched. There are many avenues to explore for him to offer something in the way of symbolic compensation. Change doesn't take place automatically, Galliano.
20. Galliano
Mae White ,   Paris France   (06.08.13)
What "amends" do you believe he has made?
