1. Hamas preparing for the next round?
Get Real ,   UK   (06.06.13)
Hopefully Iron Dome will provide the defence necessary;but the next round may require a ground invasion. Perhaps cut backs on Reserves training should be re-considered.
2. What a Wonderful Idea
Joshua ,   USA   (06.06.13)
Keep digging, criss crossing, and zig zagging you moron shmucks. Eventually you will have swiss cheese under the whole of Gaza, and, next time around you will save the IDF plenty of bombs when the buildings will collapse and bury your stupid tunnels. Bravo Morons. Once again your brilliance is shining through!
3. digging their own tunnel grave
tiki ,   belgium   (06.06.13)
In the end the ground will be so weakened because of all the tunnels, it will collapse, taking everything build on top of it & under it with it. Just a question of time.

Drafting the haredi is the thing we need to reconsider. It might make Lapid happy to draft them but it doesn't make the IDF happy because the IDF has no need for them but it will have to spend millions setting up new units for them money which could be better spent on training reserves or on new equipment. One new tank is worth more than 100 haredi so drafting them is a complete waste of money. Create civilian national service for them and the arabs where they can be put to good use and there will be no need to spend millions to integrate them into an army that doesn't need or want them. Will upset Lapid who wants to see them in the army but it will be putting them where they will be most useful which is what national service is supposed to be about, its not supposed to be a punishment which is what Lapid wants. With the tunnels we need to have armed UAVS in the air 24/7 looking out for tunnels and when they find them drop a bomb on them. We also need ground penatrating radar systems set up monitoring Gaza border so if movement is detected a bomb can be dropped immediately.
5. Sounds bad for Gaza
Richie ,   Dublin, Ireland   (06.06.13)
I see that the military factions have agreed that all of Gaza is legitimate ground for digging of tunnels for military purposes. If that's the case then all of Gaza is a legitimate target if Israel retaliates against Terrorist attacks from Gaza in the future. Israel should let the world know about these 'military' developments in Gaza and advise the world that all of Gaza is a legitimate military target

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.06.13)
Thanks for your sentiments, but the whole of Gaza is already a legitimate military target. But since their opponents are Jews, the international community prefers to turn a blind eye. At least until Israel retaliates. Then, the world is up in arms.

That's what we've been trying to tell the world for the past twenty years! What's so difficult for the world to comprehend????
8. Hire them
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat   (06.06.13)
hire them to build the Tel Aviv Subway. It's win / win.

wrong, your blog only purpose is to try and stop the enlistment of the Haridim, but your reasoning is wrong, completely, we need them to be the spearhead against the hidden racket launchers as expendable foot soldiers they are ideal to use rather than dogs to find mines and hidden rocket launching sites!
10. # 9 Haredim
Josh   (06.07.13)
I find the Haredim behavior and attitudes to be rather unpleasant sometimes. But still, to call any Jews "expendable" and essentially worth less then dogs is a bit much - do you really feel this way??
11. Slightly missing the point
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (06.07.13)
This is one massive financial scam..for Hamas The whole so called Tunnel Economy raises huge sums of UNACCOUNTABLE money for the Hamas Elite Any wonder why rather than wanting a normal transparent economic system - they want to protect the status quo and their self imposed isolation to have this great personal pot of gold grow and grow? The greed and corruption is breathtaking whilst agencies such as the UNWRA turn a blind eye And the deep anger and resentment from ordinary Gazans grows by the day...

I have no great love for the Haredim, but to suggest that the IDF would use anyone as "expendable" or as "human mine detectors" is an opinion worthy of the Iranian Ayatollahs who sent pre-teens before their main forces with plastic "keys to Heaven" to clear the Iraqi minefields for Iranian fighting troops. Look in the mirror and be ashamed of yourself.
