2. It is same as UN giving Golan to Syria
Naomi   (06.07.13)
Russia to keep peace is like giving the devil our house key, to help the Syrians attack Israel.
3. Russia on our northern border? Fantastic!
Yosi ,   Gilo-Jerusalem   (06.07.13)
What a great idea. Why not bring along the Iranians, Hizbullah and every other hate group to "monitor" also. What absolute genius;[ But seriously folks, Putin can go to h*ll.
4. Great photo of czar Putin!
A ,   Belgium   (06.07.13)

5. Dangerous for Israel
Tova ,   Toronto   (06.07.13)
Russia will join Syria & attack Israel. Countries like China & Russia, Iran & Syria will stop at nothing to destroy Israel for their own gain. Do not let it happen.
6. #2 Naomi
Ama ,   London,UK   (06.07.13)
True but it will be to Israel advantage.
7. Obama is out to intimidate Israel
PaulD ,   Jerusalem   (06.07.13)
I won't be surprised if the U.S. thinks this is a good Idea, and it may have a good chance of succeeding. If it does succeed everyone in Israel, except the usual un-Jew, anti-Zionists, would probably rejoice.
8. Thanks, but no thanks
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.07.13)
For one thing, Russia is clearly not neutral in the Syrian conflict. For another thing, Russia has long been looking for a reason and a way to get militarily involved in the conflict in Syria. They would very likely engineer the deaths of a few Russian "peacekeepers," and -- presto change-o! -- they would have their reason. This one is actually a no-brainer -- but no one could ever accuse the United Nations of having brains. Of course, since the peacekeepers are there ostensibly to monitor the cease-fire between Syria and Israel, Israel has a right to approve or not approve of the national origin of the "peacekeeping" forces. Israel is not going to approve. Nice try, Putin; no sale.
9. Funny how about the Iranians stepping in as well...
Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (06.07.13)
That was a joke. A UN force needs to be neutral. Do not allow Russia in the Golan Heights.
10. No.6 that's what the Soviets said to all
Let's be real !   (06.07.13)
eastern European countries after WWII: "You will live ideally and equally under communism". And the rest was history, I mean tragic and vicious history under the Soviet heel, for so many years. Torment, famine, deprivation of liberty, constant punishment, summary imprisonment and executions, brain washing and what not. Even part of the Israeli society was under Soviet influence in the 50s, but thank G-d it didn't stick and never made a dent. Therefore, number 6, there is no way under this sun where the Russians could squeeze into the dem. zone between Israel and Syria. Do you really want them to set up a military base under our nose? I doubt they will succeed in doing that. Then, why not the Iranians, or the Saudis or the North Koreans for a change? Don't you know that the way to hell is always paved with good intentions?
11. Putin
Joe Malanti Seymour ,   Israel   (06.07.13)
You must be bloody kidding!,
12. wow
jeff   (06.07.13)
how can we do ANY kind of deal with our neigbors, if the pepole and countries that so to speak gurentee the peace, run away after the first fire craker. look what is happining now, look what happened in Gaz. look what happened in Sinai.
13. What could possibly go wrong?
Max ,   London   (06.07.13)
Russian peacekeepers? Well, it certainly worked out splendidly in Abkhazia and South Osetia....
14. You go by history or propaganda?
Robert ,   NY USA   (06.07.13)
It was the Soviet backed Communist Czechoslovakia in 1948 that armed Israel. Especially, the Israeli air force. And we all know who came from Austria, don't we?
15. arms
john ,   toronto   (06.07.13)
Those who give arms to Syria cannot be an honest broker of peace.
16. Now Russia want to take over the Golan
Sam Sweiry ,   Eastbourne - UK   (06.07.13)
Oh! yes - Golden Opportunity for Russia to take over the Golan Peace Keeping Force in the name of the UN - what hippocrites they are! - Good Move on the checkboard - So Russia can install the S-300 next to the IDF Post
17. Putin think he is good at replacing...even his wife.
Ivan ,   South Africa   (06.07.13)
18. TO EVEN THINK!!!!
ROBERT ,   USA   (06.07.13)
To even think something like this is possible , Russia is one of Syrias biggest arms supplier and sleeping in the same bed with Assad is a insult to Israels intelligence. talk about wolves in sheep's clothing , response to Russia should be Nuts. May the lord forever bless the state of Israel.
19. Shows How USELESS UN Peace Keepers are
GHook93   (06.07.13)
They are there to preserve the peace when there is violence. Yet they run like little girls whenever violence flares up!
20. Doesn't matter who maintains the buffer
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (06.07.13)
The western allies are not going to put troops into the Golan. Russia is better than Pakistani troops, best of a bad choice.
21. Now they want a land base to train Syrians
Steven Wilson ,   Ancorage, Alaska   (06.07.13)
to use the new SS-300 missiles they sent them? On Jews? Heaven Forbid! It seems Russia will do anything to keep their little greasy fingers in the Middle Easts affairs. They now have an excuse to keep Israel from attacking Assad... if they plant their little flag of ownership in Syria. Russia will never stop practicing manifest destiny....the world is their oyster.
22. s300s stationed in Golan cover Sderot
george ,   minden US   (06.07.13)
This will provide full coverage of Israeli air space - effectively permitting the world to create NO FLY OUT OF ISRAEL Zone until Egypt, Iraq, Iran and all secure s300s themselves
23. this entire mess is getting uglier by the minute
ari ,   israel   (06.07.13)

25. Russian P'Keepers? Lila Tov
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (06.07.13)
"UN" and "Peacekeepers" are oxymoronic, with the emphasis on MORON; and now Uncle Vlad is stepping up to the Peace Plate? What's up your sleeve, Uncle Vald?
26. To: No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.07.13)
Obviously, you are unaware that that UNDOF are observer only. They are not armed. The UNDOF was set up explicitly to monitor the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Syria. It is equally obvious that you are unaware that Israel has the right to accept or reject the nationality of prospective UNDOF members. Syria, on the other hand, does not. It was a critical part of establishing the UNDOF, and Israel insisted. You don't seem to know much about anything -- yet you opine on everything.
27. Oh Prophecy how accurate you are,,,,,,
Ricky ,   The Bronx   (06.07.13)
Yes bring this Gog and Magog,,,,,, to the "Valley of Decsion",
28. 7, probably true
CJK   (06.07.13)
it would not be one bit surprising if saint obama thought this was just a dandy idea. it would help with the reset and the one big tent idea of nations being like camp kids. of course, putin's idea is to position russian troops right on israel's border, and overlooking us and coalition troops assembled in jordan. excellent way to start an unstoppable war with israel sacrificed on the alter of hubris and utter stupidity.
29. The UN turned down the Russian offer. Case closed.
Jake   (06.07.13)
30. Case not closed
<> ,   Eternalcity   (06.07.13)
This case will be closed untill, when, and as, ,,,,the New Jerusalem comes down upon us from on High. Jerusalem/Israel is already, has been and is being trodden under by the foot Gentiles, you just had your Pride Parade, (Fullnes of The Gentiles) to the tune of 100,000 and counting,, as facts on the ground are being established,,,, HOURLY, by the,,,, HOUR.
