1. Good luck to all the women of the wall
zionist forever   (06.09.13)
Be strong you will win
2. The women have their own place to pray at the Western wall
Rachel   (06.09.13)
and don't need to do so at the part where the men are praying. These women just want to pray at the men's side to provoke. They also put on teffilin, kippah and tallith that men have done for generations and not women. I am not religious and feminist, but the provocation disturbes me. Their provocation will only lead to bad things. The police should not block the men that came to pray on their side from entering it, they should block these women who came to provoke.
3. Happens through the Ages
Zechariah   (06.09.13)
There ought be conciliation involving creative compromises Game theorists from around the world.a Competition held gold silver bronze prize Donated by the multi rich.
4. Good for the women!!!
David ,   Baltimore, USA   (06.09.13)
Good for them! These women have the strength and courage to stand up to antiquated notions of gender inequality that have no place in civilized society. Rosa Parks was once considered a "provocateur". My only regret is that I can't stand with these women at the kotel, but I am there supporting them in spirit.
5. Retards of the Wall
Brian   (06.09.13)
They know very little of Jewish history and should be labelled as a Terror group due to their threat to kill.
6. Wow
Moshe   (06.09.13)
When you've got members of the anti religious, anti israel and anti jewish meretz 'praying', you know how much this has to do with religion.
7. To #2: Change starts at a certain point
Noa   (06.09.13)
It is not so long ago when it was an outrage that women should study and have a right to vote in elections. The women who started the change were "only provocative" and now you use your right and think it came about "normally". To your great-grandchildren it will be probably incomprehensible that only half of all Jews were allowed to put on prayer shawls.
8.  That is so sad !
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.09.13)
9. And the thing that sums up WOW is
Sane   (06.09.13)
'you've invented a new Judaism; get yourselves a new Kotel as well.' Silly neo-christians.
10. The Kosel
Sane   (06.09.13)
Is an ancient religious site of the Jewish religion. These WoW'ers are certainly not following Judaism. And another point. If not for the Charedim holding the wall in esteem the Wowers wouldn't go near it. It's only their little child mentality which means they need to steal aspects of Judaism in order to justify their new construct.
11. Two facts
(06.09.13)
WoW are strongly identified with Meretz that demands that the Wall be surrendered to Arab sovereignty and Jews be forbidden from visiting, much less praying. WoW receives massive funding from foreign sources. In the US they would be considered a foreign agent acting for a foreign power.
12. If they care about the kotel
Aharon ,   Jerusalem   (06.09.13)
And davening at the kotel is important to them why do they come only once a month on rosh chodesh? Why not shabbat? Because on shabbat you dont wear tfillin and davening at the kotel without tfillin is not going to provoke the hareidim. Lets build a second kotel plaza at robinsons arch and all the hareidi men will daven there and women of the wall will get the entire current kotel plaza to themselves. I suggest this only because i want to see WoW demand to be allowed to daven at robinsons arch - and you know that is exactly what will happen! The kotel is just the retaining wall of the temple mount- there are four of them! It only became special because it is the closest to the Jewish quarter so people prayed at the western side. The reform movement does not care about the temple mount, they call their shuls "temples", just like people used to build private temples before the first beit hamikdash. WoW dont care about the kotel they just want to bring chareidim down.
13. the whole thing is provocation
manny ,   new yourk   (06.09.13)
are these women really there to pray or to make a new inroad in liberalism is Judaism. I do not believe that these women care about God or being Jewish. I believe they want to make a name for themselves and at the same time destroy Orthodoxy. Provocative!
14. poster number 1 is a troll
zionist forever   (06.09.13)
Post number 1 was not written by me
15. why are the haredi being condemned for protesting?
zionist forever   (06.09.13)
There is no evidence that there has been any attempts at violence just mass protest and if we are going to have freedom to protest in this country it must extend to haredi & they are entitled to be against WOW without being treated as radical. WOW are not even interested in prayer they are a feminist movement who see orthodox Judaism as oppressive toward women because there are things men are allowed to do that women are not especially when it comes to prayer. WOW are there to provoke a response so they can come out of it looking like victims to gain support. Anat Hoffman has said she supports the Sharansky plan to extend the plaza providing an area for reform services but even if it goes ahead WOW will probably still come to hold their services in the orthodox section. They are feminists and they need the media attention provocation provides.
16. As a secular person I can only say...
Daniel ,   TA - IL   (06.09.13)
a sad day for judaism. a glorious day for provocations and 'liberal' bullying. Sorry women of the wall, go join christianity and stop trying to play men. Clearly you do not and do not want to understand judaism of human nature, but just you meer urges to provoke and create conflict. Again I am secular and was raised secular!
17. Proof that the Mechitza can be moved.
jrebecca ,   modiin   (06.09.13)
In one of the pictures there is about a 3 m gap between the Mechitza and the riot control fences. And the men still managed to do whatever they do in their reduced area. So why cant we MOVE THE MICHITZA 3M OVER and give religious women more space at the Kottel. PS this has nothing to do with WOW who only think the kottel should be attended once a month. This is for the women who are their daily.
18. the kotel, peace and love ...
basri ,   paris   (06.09.13)
Haredim, go to Tsahal to fight against Israël ennemies, instead of shouting against woomen who are praying God who does not belong to anyone.
19. 13
zionist forever   (06.09.13)
WOW are a feminist movement whose war is against orthodox Judaism which they believe is oppressive towards women because there are things men are allowed to do that women are not They are not there to pray they are there because they know its going to provoke a reaction from police or haredi protesting and so they come out of it looking like innocent victims and gain support for their cause. If they went to pray and were ignored they would look for new stunt to provoke a reaction and get noticed. Anat Hoffman has said even if the Sharansky plan to extend the plaza and create a proper reform prayer service area WOW will probably still come to the orthodox section to hold their services now the courts have given them permission to hold their provocative liberal service there.
20. #2 Rachel - you are mistaken.
Ruthie   (06.09.13)
You seem to be under some kind of misconception. All the women pray on THEIR side of the wall, separated by a barrier that is about six feet tall. This particular group was even further removed away from the men by a second barrier that separated them from the regular women's section. The police didn't block men coming to pray at all. They separated these women from everyone else, in order to keep any violence from breaking out.
21. WOW Shmatas
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.09.13)
Hashem will punish all of you. One way or another you will be punished and you will know why you are being punished.
22. Provocateurs.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (06.09.13)
These women are provocateurs who do not belong at the wall or in Israel. Send them to a reform synagogue (church) in a foreign land.
23. To any WOW member or WOW supporter
Israeli 2   (06.09.13)
You have definitely proven one thing. Israel is a democracy (which is its main problem) and you have the right to pray wherever you wish in public and the courts are indeed as liberal as you are. All this I also grant you. However, you are indeed infringing upon the rights of orthodox men who have prayed at the wall since 1967 and some even prior. You insist that they must hear your voices which are not welcome to them (because to them, you are simply a disturbing female, liberal bunch) and you simply don't give a damn how or what they think because you simply want your way. I think that is simply rude and selfish. Just imagine a bunch of Hawaiian Hula hoopers in the name of WOW dancing and intermingling with men at the wall. Is that nice and acceptable? They are certainly welcome to Israel and provide great nice entertainment, but not to the Haredim. The Haredim must be respected no matter how much you detest them. Don't you think?
24. wow
jan ,   jerusalem, israel   (06.09.13)
I think it would be wise for all the Chareidim that wee present and prevented access to the Kotel by the police in order to cater to the wow, that the police dept., and all government agencies including the Mayor, and Mr. Bennet, and Mr. Netanyahu, to name a few-should be SUED for not being allowed to pray at the Kotel! Thee should be a class acton lawsuit against the government at once!
25. The haredim have no monopoly over God,
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (06.09.13)
or the KotelThe Halacha was written by men for the benefit of men,the prophets of Israel would be on the side of the women.
26. All old photographs show men and women together at the wall.
miki ,   tampa   (06.09.13)
We see another attempt by the religious population to re-cereate and re-write history through their own fundamentalist ideology. Every old photograph depicts men and women praying togeter at the wall, no separation no hate no problem until the ulra-orthodox received the keys to our religious lives.
27. For all of the Nay-sayers...
Aharon ,   Holon, IL   (06.09.13)
You obviously do not know your Torah: 1.) Where is this all happening? Is it happening at the courtyard of Gentiles? The courtyard of Men or Women? Nope! It's not even on the Temple Mount! So it does not even matter according to Torah 2.) Is/Was Devorah a prophetess or not? 3.) Where does it say in Torah that women are prohibited to wear Teffilin? Haredim, this psuedo-religion of elitism and exclusion will only lead to further hatred from fellow Jewry and from the rest of the world. Judaism does not need reform, because there is nothing wrong with Judaism, what needs reforming is your interpretation of Judaism.
28. SAD: 70 Years on, “Selection @ the Kotel” by Israeli Police.
Mo ,   Jerusalem   (06.09.13)
29. Reform and Israel
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (06.09.13)
Reform ordains actively gay and lesbian rabbis and performs male-on-male marriages, as well as intermarriages. Is that what Israel, Eretz HaKodesh -- needs?
30. Reply to 26. old pictures of Kotel
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (06.09.13)
During the 1920's there were Arab riots over the mechitza at the kotel becaue the Arabs claimed the Kotel was for Muslims only. This dispute probably goes back to Ottoman times. The separation during times of prayer is a Halacha l'Moshe miSinai and there were separate courtyards in the Jerusalem Temple.
