1. An apology in order?
Tal ,   Yavne, Israel   (06.11.13)
Doesn't someone in the media and in the Knesset owe the Haredi population an apology for 4 years of being the scapegoat of this ugly crime? The Israel Police deserve credit for their success in this case.
2. ISRAELIAN PEOPLE, WITHIN ISRAEL, ON OUR GLOBAL PLANET IN 201
SJOERD VAN DER VELD ,   OUR PLANET OF EARTH   (06.11.13)
2013. HOPELY ISRAELIAN JUSTICE, COURT AND POLICE CAN SOLVE THAT CRIME IN A CORRECT AND PEACEFUL WAY WITH A RIGHT AND REASONABLE VERDICT AND PUNISHMENT, IN PRINCIPLE, ACCORDING TP ISRAELIAN LAW AND LEGISLATION.
3. Police
Debbie ,   Israel   (06.11.13)
This article gave plenty of background to the crime. The only information missing, is anything about the innocent young people who died, because of these vicious criminals, who have about as much value for others' lives as they have for their own - NONE.
4. Clearly a hate crime
(06.11.13)
When innocents are killed and maimed because of who they are, not what they did, that is a hate crime. An act of revenge, itself unjustified morally and under law, is committed against a specific accused individual, not a class of people.
5. #1 - they blamed ALL datim, NOT solely Haredim!
kippa seruga ,   Israel   (06.11.13)
Apology due ALL datim
6. #3 Also
(06.11.13)
Also missing is the name of the man who raped Felician's relative, causing Felician to try and get revenge. I'd love to know what the rapist feels now, knowing what he caused.
7. To #1 No, they deserve no apology
Larry ,   Hollywood, FL   (06.11.13)
The Haredi communiy deserves no apology. They issue statements of incitement and hatred against gay people on a daily basis. Do we issue apologies to radical Islamists when a terrorist act they were originally suspected of turns out to have been committed by another? They're suspected in the first case because of their horrible record. Ditto the Haredim.
8. These excuses for human beings
Sagi   (06.11.13)
are actually excrement and their rightful place is in a cess pool.
9. @Tal - apology
Arei ,   B'Golan   (06.11.13)
The police deserve much credit for not letting the case go away and bringing it to a resolution. And yes, certain communities that were maligned by the media, (especially Yediot and Ha'aretz), political parties like Meretz (but I'm sure the Meretz faithful are already spinning this - maybe the killer was "influenced" by some Rabbi) and the left do owe an apology. But sadly, we know that they will now move on to the next attack on the supposed Right Wing and religious to aim all their hate at. It is the only thing the left knows how to do.
10. To "Sarah B"
Arie ,   B'Golan   (06.11.13)
This is where you chime in and blame the "influence of some putrid Haredi Rabbi" for the murders and allege the police arrested the wrong man in a "cover up"
11. The states case is weak ...any two bit lawyer
Al   (06.11.13)
can poke it to death. Once the State starts prosecuting a case thru the media, you know it has holes. Time will tell. In the cesspool of criminal law, things are not what they appear to be.
12. #4 - The LGBT community is spinning it as a hate crime
Zev ,   Israel   (06.11.13)
But according to the police the motive of the crime was the rape of the relative. It seems that it was irrelevant that they happen to be LGB or T. If the rape was committed by a straight would they have also revenged? It was a terrible thing to happen but please stick to the facts without spin.
13. It is best the police not talk
Sam ,   USA   (06.11.13)
to press giving their current version of matter but rather make the case in court first. Besides i have read many press reports from Israel police that exploded in court . Very unprofessional to engage in press trial
14. #7, nonsense, Haredim don't incite against gays
Jake ,   USA   (06.11.13)
They (we) have a 3000 year old moral code that rejects homosexuality. The secular world has sanctified Gay culture to the point where rejecting it is considered incitement.
15. Detective Work - Means, Motive, Opportunity
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (06.11.13)
The chronology of this murder case is interesting... A good detective in a case will not apportion blame until they get enough pieces of evidence. People should be careful to jump to conclusions about the means, motive and opportunity when a murder happens. Sometimes cases which on face value seem easy to solve are more difficult than they first appear. When the truth does come out about a case it can be an opportunity for healing in a community. Various groups and "leaders" should not try and make political capital out of tragedy. No major tribe, sect or nation anywhere in the world has been 100% free of murder, rape or child sexual abuse. Ditto the State of Israel/The Jewish People.
16. Amen #14
Ezra ,   San Diego   (06.11.13)
I never heard it expressed better.
17. accusations
MICHEL ,   ASHKELON   (06.11.13)
Those who said that the crime is the result of a campaing from the religious people; are themselves making a crime of hate incitement and showing how their sexual identity condition Is beenmanipulated for ideological reasons.
18. Jake 14
Twice Blessed   (06.11.13)
""nonense, Haredim don't incite against gays" thanks for the laugh !!! Come to Pride in Jeruslaem and you will see lots of hatred
19. Apology for what?
AY ,   USA   (06.11.13)
The article says clearly the suspects come from a religious family from Bnei Brak, a city that votes 95% for various religious/haredi parties. No apologies should be forthcoming. Larry, #7, put it right.
20. @12, so if a Palestinian from the territories
AY ,   USA   (06.11.13)
comes and shoots whoever he finds at the workplace of the Jew who raped his sister, it won't be a hate crime either? If the issue was just personal revenge, why did the criminal not kill the guy he wanted to kill? Why open indiscriminate fire on many, including kids, just because they were gay? Whatever this began as, it has turned into a hate crime the moment he opened indiscriminate fire at the center.
21. Haredim incite
AY ,   USA   (06.11.13)
If you don't want to incite just quote the Bible. But that's not what the haredi do. [Knesset Member] Zeev went as far as comparing the gay movement to a "plague that may destroy Jewish Israel", adding that this "plague" should be dealt with "just as the Health Ministry is dealing with bird flu." This is just one example. Over the years, MKs from religious parties have made comments publicly. Shas' ministers comments have garnered most attention, but it hasn't been just Shas. And yes, a number of times, it went beyond just quoting the Bible into incitement.
22. This has nothing to do with incitement....
Andy ,   Washington, DC   (06.11.13)
This has to do with a gang of murderers whom the police nabbed through excellent detective work and some good luck.
