The wrong solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict will also ensure that there will not be a Jewish state for very long. Yet another one with advice on this matter: He should trust that Israel knows best on how to secure its own future, but at least he also recognises the shortcomings of the Palestinians.

Either a Palestinian state comprised of the whole West Bank and East Jerusalem or one secular state with rights for all. Keep your Jewish identity in a smaller state or lose it trying to hold on to the Occupied Territories. It's as simple as that.

Jordan takes over responsiblity and the Palestinian entity becomes a federated state within the Jordanian country. It would be called the United (Two) States of Jordan.

Leon Wieseltier has been doing this for years, worrying because that seems "deep". Then engaging in firm finger-wagging at those who do not display the requisite level of "seriousness". The problem with this is that serious people are people who have actual responsibility to "do stuff". Israelis who do stuff have to figure out what will work and what will not. And they usually stop doing things that do not work. Simply because, no matter what the worries are, that is what should be done.
