1. What has Holocaust got to do with African Economic Migrants?
Alan ,   SA   (06.13.13)
2. illegals ?!
yosef, phd ,   usa israel   (06.13.13)
Most of the so called "illegals" are a socially undesirable element - here under false pretense (i.e. political persecution in their homelands) They are illiterate, unemployable, smuggled in by beduin and other arabs. They often became impoverished after paying large amounts to their smugglers, and certainly are NOT the responsibility of the Israeli largess and compassion - certainly after committing crimes against their host country people and property.
3. Exactly as #1 said
Roey   (06.14.13)
Most are not here because they're escaping persecution. Many are economic migrants. The fact that many have committed crimes while being here says enough that they should be deported.
4. Deportations
Geoff ,   London (UK)   (06.14.13)
As far as refugees are concerned, Israel has a moral obligation to accept its fair share. It has no moral obligation to accept more than its fair share. And it has no obligation whatsoever to accept a single economic migrant.
5. And this is our problem because?
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.14.13)
What part about ILLEGAL is so hard to understand? They came here without permission, they can go somewhere else as well.
6. just say
rm ,   Amsterdan, NL   (06.14.13)
they are economic refugees...makes it much easier to deport them even if they fled for genuine fear of their lives....
7. start a new development town
another Israeli ,   Israel   (06.14.13)
With previous immigrations Israel created development towns for the new populations to live. Remove these new "immigrants" from South Tel Aviv which they are making into a dangerous, crime filled slum, and put them in a development town that they can develop and grow and contribute with their own work and efforts. If that is what they really want then they can help themselves and prove it like others have done before them. They do not need to live in Tel Aviv or in another city. That just breeds crime and poverty.
8. Examine Stringently
Zechariah   (06.14.13)
The Talmud requires stringent examination of witnesses in courts and don't go with a mob to do evil. So we need to examine how many refugees geniuly flee Genocide and how many are Not. In any case the idea of a highly secured Training and Development Town A Sanctuary City is a excellent idea to screen and Filter . As for The Strangers in our Midst who are Carers of our Sick Elderly And Disabled In a Large Majority do outstanding Noachide Mitzvot and its Compassionate and Economic .
9. Economic refugees should be returned-simple as that
Ezer   (06.14.13)
10. Yonathan's Question
Avi Ze'ev ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.14.13)
“If you don’t have enough space to hold all these refugees, why did you accept them?” asked Yonathan. Is he serious? They entered illegally. We didn't accept them. And there is a huge difference between so-called "economic refugees" and those fleeing war and persecution. And even regarding the later, it is not our obligation to absorb them. If we can get them resettled in another country, that is an acceptable solution.
11. Israel Government was asleep on the job to allow 60K illegal
Alan ,   SA   (06.14.13)
immigrants to cross into Israel in the FIRST place .Since the fence was constructed the numbers dropped to near ZERO as I understand it.So why did the Government mess around so long??? Sheer negligence!!! They are ECONOMIC MIGRANTS ... NOT Holocaust victims!!! There is a big move from third world to the first world for economic reasons... Nothing to do with Holocausts!!!
12. illegal immigrants
jan ,   jerusalem, israel   (06.14.13)
My daughter and son-in-law live in Pardes Katz, many Sudanese, Eritean illegals live there. They have seen many of them drunk on the streets and parks, using vulgar language. They can not let their little girl go out to play by heself-nor can any Jew do so, for fear that they may not come home, or may be traumatized and abused by these illegals, which has happened many times alreay in their neighborhood to othe children. This in not the way to live! No one invited them here, they are not wanted, they only cause harm!
13. The majority especially from Eritrea are economic migrants.
Jo   (06.14.13)
And you can't blame them for wanting a better life and opportunity but illegally entering a country is not going to make anything peaceful. Israel is not big Europe and already has many native refugees on its doorstep. There is no way they can ever become citizens here, it's hard for everyone and been born here does not give citizenship like in the UK or US. They can't pay taxes, and can't legally work so I think going home or to a easier country where they can build a future is far better. Europe does not want them nor does the US either and is already full of illegals they are trying to get rid off.
14. They are not refugees
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.14.13)
The definition of a refugee is: "Individuals who leave their native country for social, political, or religious reasons, or who are forced to leave as a result of any type of disaster, including war, political upheaval, and famine." They are only refugees in the FIRST country they come to. After that they are migrants. Israel does not border those countries so we cannot be the first country they came to.
15. Good Luch
