1. Meltzer sounds a clear alarm for everyone who loves Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.15.13)
Meltzer has sounded the alarm bell loud and clear. Bibi poses a grave danger to Israel. He betrays everything Likud stands for. He betrays everything Israel votes for. He is slowly turning Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp, as the lunatic left and Israel's enemies want. Now is the time for a massive patriotic uprising. We must not allow the Jerusalem freeze to go on. We must not allow ANY of Bibi's sick policies to continue. Now is the time to fight to save Israel; and fight with total determination to win!
2. Meltzer's ideology is sick but Bibi has no ideology but self
miki ,   tampa   (06.15.13)
aggradation. We are lucky in that the Likud can offer no one better and that the voting public realizes your extremism will lead to self-destruction.
3. #1 Chaim..agreeing with him
Michael ,   Haifa   (06.15.13)
Chaim writes, "Bibi poses a grave danger to Israel". I could not agree more.
4. The Religions have Flaws
Zechariah   (06.15.13)
Religions like Humans have Flaws .Everything is Flawed. Some Jewish Groups don't even believe in a Jewish State till the Messiah Arrives .For The Jews the Justice for the Holocausts is The most Important.
5. #1, good luck with that chaim!
Ramzi Jaber ,   Palestine   (06.15.13)
6. Truthful Article
Brett ,   Florida   (06.15.13)
Between his first and second term as pm, Netanyahu spoke the truth about the muslims to the whole world. He used to say " they don't want a state beside Israel, they want a state instead of Israel". Now, he has turned into a real polite deciever, afraid to state his mind. I wonder why and what is he afraid of? Wishy washy red lines and cowtowing to world opinion don't really seem to fit him. Wha hoppened?
7. Just what is it with these leaders?
Volvi   (06.15.13)
I remember Ehud Olmert from the early 80's when he still wore those big rimmed glasses. He was a true man of the right. Hard and strong on ideology and Israels history. Always stood for the unification of Jerusalem, and look what became of him. Same with Arik Sharon, always strongly on the right castigating and belittling the policies of the left, then look at what he did. Remember Bibi's addresses to either the Senate or Congress how strong his words were on behalf of Israel and her historic right and vilifying the Arabs for their everlasting hatred. Truly a man of the right. Now look at him and his Bar Ilan speech, who could have imagined. So I want to ask, who is holding a gun to the heads of our leaders children? What the hell is going on in Israel? How can each leader in succession be so perfidious and traitorous to Israel and the history of the Jewish people? It confounds me to no end.
8. The opposite may also be true
Robert Haymond ,   Teko'a, Israel   (06.15.13)
Netanyahu is a rightwinger who appoints people like Barak and Tsipi Livni and freezes the building in Judea and Samaria in order to fool the world by giving a moderate face to the government. In the meantime, building has caught fire and is rampaging in the Yishuveem east of the Green Line. Our problem is, of course, that his snakelike tactics even fool the Israeli pundits.
9. Why is thievery and deception a Jewish moral value? TATA
Edithann ,   USA   (06.15.13)
10. Speak Softly and Act Tough
Ezekial Haim ,   LONDON UK   (06.15.13)
When Netanyahu was talking tough against Iran,he knew that there was little chance for Israel to act alone. Now that the chances of Israel acting against Syria and or Iran ,with or without America have increased,Netanyahu now knows that its better to talk soft but act decisively when necessary.Remember that the situation around Israel has drastically changed and Netanyahu is adapting to that situation,it does not follow that his long term strategy has changed.
11. (7) Volvi
tiki ,   belgium   (06.15.13)
Who is holding a gun to the head of each Israeli leader so they become puppy dog's? The US & EU & the rest of the world!

pinchas ,   boston   (06.15.13)
14. #7 Volvi - The die was cast in 2009
Devorah   (06.15.13)
From Netanyahu's speech before the U.S. Congress - May 24, 2011: "Two years ago, I publicly committed to a solution of two states for two peoples: a Palestinian state alongside a Jewish state. "I’m willing to make painful compromises to achieve this historic peace. As the leader of Israel it’s my responsibility to lead my people to peace. "Now, this is not easy for me. It’s not easy... "... because I recognize that in a genuine peace, we’ll be required to give up parts of the ancestral Jewish homeland. And you have to understand this: In Judea and Samaria, the Jewish people are not foreign occupiers." To be fair, Bibi did discuss the nine-mile wide borders to which Chaim (#1) referred and how those borders were indefensible.
15. I am surprised to know Israelis are surprised
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (06.15.13)
It seems evident you, Israelis, still do not yet know ( or acknowledge ) the ultimate truth and fact ( or,rather, you seem to continue delibaretaly ignoring the crystal-clear fact ) . No matter what tiny Israel is capable of achieving militarily against Arabs and Palestinians it simply should know ( and I assume Israel already fully knows beyond doubt ) that America is your ultimate patron and that Israel is but a protégé of America . When the late Yitzhak Rabin assumed premiership in 1974 the very first statement he made was : " ... the State of Israel can not survive without US help " . I still vividly remember that statement of his which I heard from radio Israel broadcasting in arabic... So, while Israel seems concerned about its interests here America too is concerned about its long-term interests here . Israel can not bite the hand that feeds her...
16. #15. U.S. was not even a key Israeli ally till after 1967.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.15.13)
America was not even a key ally of Israel till Israel proved her valor in the Six Days War of 1967. Israel won her most costly wars with little or no U.S. support. The argument that Israel is a protege of the U.S. holds no water. Obama's America is not a reliable ally for anyone. In fact, America is in the process of self destruction under the worst U.S. President in history.
17. #14. Two State Final Solution is Holocaust waiting to happen
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.15.13)
Maybe Bibi is committed to the monstrous Two State Final Solution, which is a Holcaust waiting to happen. But Israel does not have to follow his sick, suicidal path. Concessions are painful for the same reason it is painful to touch a hot stove. Concessions are painful because they are WRONG!
18. Hiding behind Likud
Jeff Daube ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.15.13)
Yoel Meltzer is correct insofar as Bibi using Barak/Livni and Likud for cover. I just am not sure whether it is to tack Left or to zig and zag. Bibi's penchant to find the seam and fall into it leads me to believe that while BHO may lead from behind, Bibi leads from between.
19. Too Little, Too Late
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (06.16.13)
Netanyahu may appear to Israeli right wingers to be shifting, but it is way too little, and way too late. Time ran out on the two-states idea. Abbas will maybe return the keys soon. Then you can hire and pay for what security you want and hire and pay for what education you want them to have. A single bi-national state is where you're headed. Jordan won't take in millions more for your convenience, nor will Egypt. Better look at how Belgium and Canada do it.
20. # 16 Chaim True!
BUILD BABY BUILD!!!! ,   United States   (06.16.13)
Obama's managed to give the terrorists power in Egypt, Libya, etc. If you didn't know better, you'd think he was the personal water boy for the saudi's. He even exempted all US Muslims from paying into his "obama health care. Meaning WE the people pay for these freeloading terrorists lice. Let's pray obama gets impeached and soon. KEEP BUILDING !!!
21. The writer is right!!!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (06.16.13)
I don't trust Netanyahu!!!
22. Nine Mile Borders
Zechariah   (06.16.13)
The nine mile borders ought be adjusted in a substantial land swap or hyperdemilitirized zone manned by USA NATO and. The Scanda navians half their standing armies .
23. Iranian Election
Zechariah   (06.16.13)
The stunning victory of a moderate candidate opens a window of opportunity provided Eternal Iron Clad Security for Jews Can be a Must. .from the sea to the river Arabs who want To live in peace with their neighbours ought receive Equality Before The Law .But for Jihadi and Fatah Ba'ath there is no Room .
24. Gloves are off Arabs want Tel Aviv Haifa & Holy City Of Jer
Martin ,   SA   (06.16.13)
Gloves are off Arabs want Tel Aviv Haifa & Holy City Of Jerusalem 242 says negotiate They the Arabs are not doing so. Perhaps this offer shows our wish to negotiate. If they refuse we could then annex the area that suits our security position by default through the refusal. If you Arabs wont negotiate can take the initiative and security council doesn’t not vote to oppose due to American veto. Of course we require a united Yerushalayim. This seems a simplistic plan as the next alternative is to do nothing. Clever move by Bibi as they really arnt interest to negotiate. Any deal means would most likely encourage the negotiator to be bumped off by some Arab hot-headed group.
25. Hiding behind the Likud
Rahamim Akerib ,   Canada   (06.16.13)
I am going to say this for the thousand time. Palestinians have effectively 2 states already. Gaza and Jordan. We don't need a third one, Period. All this talk about giving them more land is absolutely disastrous and folley. We must take a final stand that the land is ours and the Palestinians are the occupiers, although we are willing to accommodate them. Shalom
26. Civil War
Emes Said ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.16.13)
Looking forward to having Muslims wipe out each other in Syria, Africa, and Afganistan. Gee Had baby.
27. #4 agree...
Roman   (06.16.13)
Better to speed up coming of Messiah than wasting time on two state solutions or no two state solutions.
28. Banana peel waiting for it's victim...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.16.13)
that's my vision of concessions.
29. Netanayu
Eitan Margalit ,   Tel Aviv   (06.16.13)
We want clean politics. During the period preceding the elections, Netanya spoke apppealing to Nationalistic feelings. But after being elected he takes leftists stands. His real thoughts beome apparent. We would appreciate people being forthright and honest , not "confidence men".
30. Mr. Haymond @#8
Israeli 2   (06.16.13)
My sentiments precisely...but isn't he able to fool the public he serves easier than the politicians he dances with? Once a "politician", the "public servant" leaves his public. He is indeed meandering, snakelike and not to my liking, but then who can be better? At any rate, I can't vote BIBI no more.
