If Iran were to send in tanks or jets to the demilitarised zone it would also not be a problem because Iranian tanks are no match for merkavas. The IAF has better planes and pilots than Iran does also unlike Iran Israel can move anti aircraft system into the Golan to protect from any Iranian jets that might be sent. As long as Obama is willing to carry through willing to also let Israel be involved in destroying chemical weapons sites if Assad goes and won't do what he always does and loose his nerve and instead look for a diplomatic solution with the new regime for their dismantle rather than either Israel or the US actually dropping any bombs so the new regime knows Israel and the US are committed to peace with Syria.
