1. Appalling
nadav ,   tlv   (06.20.13)
how is this clown a "Dr" and "rabbi?!" How can he possibly accuse gay men and women of being the source of violence, when at least 90% of violence and violent crime is committed by straight males in EVERY society on the planet since time immemorial!? Even 99% of male on male rape is committed by straight men against mainly other straight men! Also, where does King Solomon say anything about gay people in the Bible?!!- Is that more quackery from Medieval "Orthodox" Judaism? Finally, what irks me the most is that this quack is a the official "rabbi" of Kiryat Ono, meaning he and his office/employees get paid with OUR TAX PAYER MONEY! We have no money for schools, railroads, or to feed Holocaust survivors, but this quack gets paid to spread superstitious tomfoolery and hatred?! What kind of country is this?!
2. '...deviation from norms opens the door to violence...'
(06.20.13)
so is the rabbi declaring that the haredi mob that attacked rabbi stav are homosexual.
3. To quote the rabbi, "abnormal
Runner1983 ,   USA   (06.20.13)
sexual inclinations leads to violence in society." He must be talking about segments of the haredi community where, anecdotally, child sexual abuse occurs at a high rate than in he non-haredi Jewish community. What is it about haredi cultural norms that causes this?
4. I. Am. Speechless.
Vered, Israel   (06.20.13)
We've got to find a way to release ourselves from taking Rabbinic lore seriously. "The 'generation of the flood', which was the first to recognize same-sex marriages..." This is midrashic garbage. Midrash is just Chazal's way of trying to make the Torah say what they wanted it to say. We can't let this affect our lives. We can't take those who do affect our lives. The entire prohibition of homosexuality can be interpreted as a way to stop idolatry (since this was the way the pagans worshiped). There is a far greater textual connection between idolatry and homosexuality than there is between separating meat and dairy, yet Chazal invented a connection to that. Why can't we choose to interpret this in a new light? We need to use our brains and reinterpret what we've been taught, by looking at the text anew. No one chooses homosexuality
5. He hasn't be caught in homophobic remarks
Mordechai   (06.20.13)
Ynet needs to teach its reporters that their job is to report facts not to give their opinions. He wasn't caught as this was a public statement not something secret he is ashamed of. And being opposed to the radical homosexual agenda is not a phobia but something called Judaism which the writer may not observe but the Rabbi does. Ynet needs some real basic lessons in journalism 101. Your job is to report the facts and let the readers decide not to tell us what to think as you spin the facts
6. "No reason to get excited", people willing to believe in the
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.20.13)
Imaginary Friend are not in a position to comment on serious matters like homosexualism or sex in general. Almost every religion has man's sex life as target and mangles it beyond recognition. Anyway: what was good enough for the Maker (gays & straights) must be good enough for Men in Black!
7. I agree with him... in a way
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (06.20.13)
Non acceptance and pushing people away leads to them acting out. This can be done in many ways. It can be done in violence to one's self or others, it can also be done in making the best of a bad situation or exceeding expectations people place on you.
8. Homophobia is alive and well in Israel
Twice Blessed   (06.20.13)
time to step up the pressure for equality
9. Gays' High Violence Potential
RK ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.20.13)
God's Chosen folk seem to be increasingly picked from the wrong aisle at the people store. So I suppose Baruch Goldstein was Gay, as were the human nefel who murdered PM Rabin and Emil Grunzweig.
10. what the rabbi meant and was reported
ma nishma ,   modiin   (06.20.13)
He meant: Council calls for self-extermination by LGBT community
11. What's the surprise? The Rabbi is right
Peter   (06.20.13)
The LGBT community are destroying themselves as well as others. But he's wrong in the last sentence. Every man is born as homo and murderer and thief and whatnot but we have to learn to live like human beings.
12. that's bullshit, violence is part of every sector
(06.20.13)
13. Arusi
h.s.cohen ,   n.y.c. usa   (06.20.13)
Cut off his government funding.Only then he could be free to say what he likes to disturbed people like himself.
14. Appalling...
Raoul ,   Herzliya Israel   (06.20.13)
such warped thinking. Only strengthens my view to stay away from all organized religion.
15. I am shocked!
Mark ,   London, UK   (06.20.13)
Religious nutters tie themselves up in knots over GLBT issues and expose themselves to ridicule. By homosexuals does he mean men and women, or just men. Anyway, if homosexuals experience pain it is because of the things he and his ilk say and do. However religious you are, it's a big mistake to pay any attention to this sort of crap. Fortunately, str8 men never beat their wives or children and they never get violent. This is especially true of rabbis. I think it's called righteous indignation instead.
16. So all the Ultra Orthodox who riot are gay too?
Yehoshua Bader ,   Safed   (06.20.13)
That's a relief. Now I finally understand why the Ultra Orthodox set trash bins on fire, spit on people, through rocks at other Jews and damage property. They are violent because they are gay, right?
17. Sucker!
Lee   (06.20.13)
I think its Rabbi Arusi who has the potential of high violence! Should be removed from his position and reprimanded immediately.
18. Then why am I hearing and seeing violence among religious ?
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (06.21.13)
How many cases about religious men abusing their wives and children ? Or how about this morning news? Religious man shot to death because he yelled "Alla Akbar" ! I'm also not comfortable around gays, but I try not to judge or label by community. Actually, who am I (a human being) to judge?
19. Crazy Rabbi
moshico ,   Jerusalem   (06.21.13)
You can't say homosexuals are any more violent then hetrosexuals. I know many gays and they are the sweetest people I have ever met. Rabbi you should think before you speak.
20. Gays are nothing more than weak, self defeated, humans. They
Proud to be a REAL ,   man,not a 1/2 man!!   (06.22.13)
are self deluded and have no moral strength at all. The only way they try to over come their inner weakness is to try to bully anyone who tries to expose them. Oldest trick in the book. Nothing to be proud of at all.
21. Gay question in Jewish press... talk about switch and bate.
Miron ,   USA   (06.22.13)
22. Only 50% of these Rabbi's seemingly are above average...
Mighty Jew Young ,   AMERICA THE BEAUTIUL   (06.22.13)
the rest are below average...this article proves my point beyond any question. Prime examples of below average Rabbi's
23. 20 proud
Henri ,   Toronto   (06.22.13)
most men who are comfortable with their sexuality see gays as no threat and also wish for equality. You are obviously struggling with your own sexuality. Go get help !
24. Religious violance vs Gay violance
Emmanuel Kant ,   Germany   (06.22.13)
There's far more religious motivated violance in this world and its history than gay related violance, but who cares. Someone studying nothing but torah every day isnt used to think rationally, he's just an expert believer...
25. Where does Kobi Naschshoni get this information?
Michael Chatman ,   San Antonio, USA   (06.23.13)
I am a Zionist Christian in the US. Kobi Nachshoni writes the following: He said he learned that from the "generation of the flood," which was the first to recognize same-sex marriages, and as a result "the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence." He added that both King Solomon and Maimonides had pointed to a connection between the two. Where can I find reference to this "recognition of same-sex marriage?" Sorry I don't believe it until I read it myself. How does one email Kobi Nachshoni for more information?
26. LGBT- Thank you Rabbi
CSMD ,   Walnut Creek, CA, US   (06.24.13)
Rabbi Dr. Ratzon Arusi, you are completely accurate in your appraisal of the LGBT psychological dynamics. In my work, I have never seen such vitriolic hate, deceit, rage and hostility amongst a group of people and in their individual relationships as I see in the LGBT community. It is most unfortunate that as a whole they seek to deny the obvious moral deviation, deny the anatomical evidence against their choices, are blind to the self-hatred that propels their behavior and project their own rage onto heterosexuals who stand on moral grounds and, most importantly, reach out to them in love to help them. We see this in their attacks nad persecution on every level trying to ruin those who stand up for the truth and ironically we are standing up so they will be freed from the pathology that has gripped their lives. Thank you.
27. Overemphasis
David ,   Seattle   (06.29.13)
The orthodox world's obsession with homosexuality is a bit much to take. Yes, the Torah includes male homosexuality in its list of verboten sexual behaviors. Only a fool would argue that it is permitted within the traditional Jewish reading of the text. At the same time, frumsters need to refer to our source texts, which teach us that the translation of "toeva" is not "abomination." The Talmud says "toevah" should be read "toeh ata ba," meaning "you are in error." It also says toeva about eating shrimp. No one is out in the streets panicking over the consumption of shellfish. Yes, its forbidden, but let's try to keep it in perspective.
28. double talk
Maimon ,   Israel   (06.08.14)
This is demagogic talk. Arussi does NOTHING to stop the Law which recognizes same sex couples.
