I am sure the Jews of Germany before the Holocaust were looking down on the poor Jews of "Palestine" thinking that they had it so much better than them. European secular Zionists were not proud Jews. Infact they could have been called self hating anti semites. Let me remind you that Herzl did not circumcise any of his sons. Yup, right here in Tel Aviv about and hour and a half south of you. It is not a permanent move and I'm counting the days until I can be back in Portland. In Portland I don't get woken up by sirens and rockets flying at my roof like I did here for 2 weeks in November, in Portland I can get married to a rabbi, by a rabbi or even by a Doberman if I wish, in Portland I can sleep with my door unlocked and walk around naked not fearing of being stoned by a Haredi or assaulted by an Eritrean infiltrator. I am an American Jew and always will be regardless of where I live. So yes, unless its for religious purposes, we stupid Americans see no point in living in Israel at this time.

The one positive aspect of life in Oregon I can agree with is that the residents of Portland organized to stop fluoridating the water of the city. Kudos for them for stopping the government from poisoning their water. Annoyed, Tel Aviv is not Israel, you would have been better off anywhere except not in Tel Aviv.

I feel your pain, annoyed. I hate the center of the country more than I hate any place outside of Israel. The center of the country is a modern day Sodom and Gemorah. Israel is not just Tel Aviv. I understand the arguments, but I still disagree that anywhere in America is better than Israel at this monumental time in history. American Jews have come in organized groups to build their own communities in what is called the "periphery" (stupid term). If American Jews organized themselves into larger groups of whole communities you would teach the arrogant Israelis a very good lesson in what cohesion and love of country means, because they are resting on their laurels.
