1. Kerry shouldn't give up to convince the Arabs that the...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (06.20.13)
...23-state-solution is the way out of the conflict: 22 independent Arab states and only one Jewish state. Sadly, Kerry is not the only one who can't convince the Arabs to accept the Jewish state's right to be, to exist as such on ANY parcel of the Jewish people's ancestral home... And, this is the essence of the conflict that must be resolved!!
2. What is there to understand.
Mendoza ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (06.20.13)
Israel does not want to reach a solution. On the other hand, the history of past experience with the Arabs has not been a rose garden. In the meantime Israel is becoming more racist and less democratic. The forecast is therefore, a return to violence.
3. Not very good options for the Pals!
Mira ,   Vienna   (06.20.13)
1. Got ot UN and apply for organisations wouldn't change anything on the ground 2. Apply to the ICCwoudl be a painful and long process and above that could explode into their own faces 3. to ignite the region means their cleancut extermiantion So they rather should take on negotiations without preconditions, but I doubt if they are reasonable enough!
4. Waiting for the stick
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.20.13)
The right is howling loudly while the left is largely quiet. So too is Europe. The U.S. is still offering carrots. Bibi is waiting. So too is Abbas. They want to see if the U.S. has a big enough stick to make Israel choose the carrot. I'm hoping that Bibi will not choose the stick.
5. Kerry more focused on handing over West Bank than peace
Sam ,   Canada   (06.20.13)
Kerry and Obama are more focused on giving Palestinians a state than making peace. That's why the Palestinians are so enthusiastic about Kerry succeeding. The Americans have proven themselves as being inept at making peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
6. Let the palestinian ignite the region
Yossef   (06.20.13)
8. #4. More pathetic fear mongering from Jump Off Balcony.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.20.13)
Israel had better hurry up and become a 9 mile wide concentration camp or else Obama will get really annoyed at us and bring on the stick... More pathetic fear mongering from Jump Off The Balcony. Always fear mongering. Always trying to get Israel to do stupid, self destructive things out of fear. Despicable is too polite a term for leftists like Jump Off The Balcony. Israel is strong. Israel is brave. Israel will not fall victim to leftist fear mongering.
9. Obama is trying to redeem his disastrous presidency.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.20.13)
Kerry's quest to turn Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp has nothing to do with good will. It is all about Obama's hunt for something to redeem his disastrous presidency. No matter what the cost to Israel.
10. All this for what?
<> ,   Eternalcity   (06.20.13)
FOR WHAT!!!! This the fake vain "shuttle diplomacy" that flipped Condi's wig. In order for PEACE to come about in this region somebodys got to give and we know who's doing all the taking,,,,,, in the name of the Lord. John Kerry will tire of this.
11. #7 and #9, spot on.
Israeli ,   Haifa   (06.20.13)
I doubt the US gives a horses patuti if the Palestinians have a state. The US will get nothing out of it accept continued cudos from their big oil lovers. History has shown the US has no love for Israel. A PA state might blow up the region.thats what they want.
12. in other words he's too stupid to be secretary of state
Jack ,   San Diego, USA   (06.20.13)
13. How's it going in Afghanistan, Kerry?
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (06.20.13)
One day after King Kerry's Kourt announced "open and peaceloving negotiations with the Taliban," the plan has imploded. Kerry, go sail your boat.
14. #7 & #9 almost correct
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.20.13)
The reality is that nothing we or America can do to get the Arabs to want peace. The US makes it's share of mistakes as well as us, but that is not so much inept as just mistakes. The Arabs scream that they will never recognize Israel as our homeland and that they will kill us all. They are the only thing preventing peace, so they need to be defeated. Nobody ever makes peace with an enemy - only former enemies
15. Surprise Six-Day land grab will not stand. -- World
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (06.20.13)
16. One State(tm)
BBSNews ,   Santa Fe, New Mexico   (06.20.13)
President Obama is one of the most effective and brilliant US Presidents in modern times, every sane person not blinded by wingnuttery and partisanship (and race hatred) can clearly see that. Nevertheless, John Kerry will fail because Israel has admitted it has embraced the One State(tm). So there ya go. Now you have the One State(tm) and those millions of Arab Palestinians and you are stuck with the demographic time bomb brought to you by the illegal colonies and Bibi. Enjoy! Ya cannot say you were not warned. I spent years here warning you that it was too late and now you get to live the reality.
17. Gee, wrong as usual...
BBSNews ,   Santa Fe, New Mexico   (06.20.13)
It's funny. Years go by, and you still lie openly. One phrase puts the lie out into the open. The Arab Peace Initiative. Indeed, the API with some 194 concessions. One State(tm). Demographic time bomb. Gee, you, Bibi and all the other wingnuts have brought Israel to this point from sheer greed. Enjoy! You did it on your own and as I have written here for many years, Israel is its own worst enemy.
18. #16. "Palestinians" face Jewish demographic time bomb.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.20.13)
Both American and Israeli studies prove Jews are a growing majority in Israel, including Judea and Samaria. "Palestinian" poseurs are the ones facing a Jewish demographic time bomb. In 5 years, we will have a million Jews in Judea and Samaria. WIthin 20, years, more than 20 million. Palestine is forever fictional.
19. Kerry, learn from James Baker.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (06.20.13)
Tell both partners that if they somehow ever become really interested in peace to call the white house. The number is ............ All the rest is just a waste of aviation fuel.
20. Chaim, you win! One State(tm)
BBSNews ,   Santa Fe, New Mexico   (06.20.13)
You got what you wanted. I advocated for years here for a Two State Solution(tm) along the lines of the Saudi Plan better known now as the Arab Peace Initiative and except for that little time with Ehud Olmert you all chose to make it public, that there was never any intention of making peace and that there would never be a Palestinian state. Okay, now you have it. An deny that Arab Palestinians exist all that you like, they do, and they come with the One State(tm). Now give them the vote or what do you have and what has become of Israel eh?
21. Kerry canpt be impartial
BEM JABO (,MACHAL) ,   ISRAEL   (06.21.13)
In November 2010, disclosures of diplomatic cables by the WikiLeaks website revealed that Kerry had been busy undermining Israel as well: He had told leaders in Qatar that the Golan Heights should be returned to Syria, and that the capital of a Palestinian state should be established in East Jerusalem, as part of the "peace process."
22. #8 No reason to fear
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.21.13)
Chaim, If anyone is fear mongering, it is you with your constant cries of impending doom, your demonizing of the Palestinian-Arabs, your incessant screams about a "nine mile waist" and your repeated references to concentration camps. I'm not afraid of these things happening Chaim and realistically none of us should be. The fear you experience when reading my comments is simply a reflection of your own cowardice. The "stick" I mention in #4 is not something to be afraid of but something to be considered when weighing options. As is the ICC, as is another intifada, as is the cost of maintaining and defending the settlements, as is the political cost. I simply point to the obvious - Bibi wants to know the options. So does Abbas. So nothing is happening. That's all I wrote Chaim. Why does it frighten you? Perhaps because you know calmer, more rational voices than your own shall prevail?
23. #8 Enough blood and bile Chaim
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.21.13)
We seldom ask the question, -what right did Britain or the League of Nations have to offer us a Jewish homeland on land that it did not own, or to attempt to correct one historical injustice by inflicting another? It is an inconvenient question. People like you make up innumerable explanations to mask the fact that where we live now was an Arab land for over a thousand years before our return. I accept that reality. And I defend our right to the Jewish State of Israel without equivocation as a matter of survival. But I do not want to compound and perpetuate the injustice by seizing more than we acquired through the Partition Plan and War of Independence or legitimately require for our survival. Your pride may depend upon seizing Judea and Samaria but our survival as a people does not. The fear, hatred , greed and cowardice that characterize your comments and those of SarahB et al are, to me, the antithesis of what it means to be a Jew, strong, determined, unafraid, compassionate and righteous. The Israel that you pretend to represent is not a land of milk and honey but of blood and bile. Choke on it. And let the rest of us live as we should… with pride.
24. #23. Normal Israelis revere Judea and Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.21.13)
Jump Off The Balcony. Normal sane Israelis will not permit the likes of you to turn Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp. That is why leftist parties don't rise to power in Israel any more. That is why there are now more Jews in Judea and Samaria today than there were in all of Israel in 1948. Your pathetic, suicidal views are rejected by the vast majority of Israel. Nor is there anything "rational" about them. They are clearly deranged. The only merit in your posts, and Mordechai's, is that you expose the lunacy of the far left for all of Israel to see.
25. Building for who?
Roman   (06.21.13)
"The Americans are also discussing plans to build infrastructure in the territories, including Area C". Build for Israel and don't waste our time anymore - I love direct flight to Jerusalem and Abbas there not steal our policies on Ynet.
26. BBSNews #17 ignorant as always
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.21.13)
We really need stupid foreigners that haven't a clue tell us what to do in our country like we need Arabs. The API is nothing more than another attempt to get us to surrender to xenophobic fascist thugs and get nothing in return. We do know better and the Arabs will again have nothing for their attempt. As for the leftists in America - you have no say and frankly no brains.
27. Take a chance with peace?
Get Real ,   UK   (06.21.13)
Kerry might be better employed trying to resolve the differences over Israel between the PA & Hamas before he presents Palestinian pre-conditions to Israel. At least that way he will appreciate the real nature of the Palestinian demands for the dismantling of Israel and the reasons why Israel must not take a chance with peace until all security requirements are satisfied.
28. #24 Former Shin Bet chiefs are deranged??hdrawal
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.22.13)
All of the living former heads of Israeli security oppose Israel's settlement policy and support a two state solution. MK Peri is one of them. Are YOU claiming that these highly intelligent and devoted defenders of Israel are all left wing loonies with a death wish Chaim? Doesn't is disturb you to know that the men who know the most about our real security needs agree more with me than with you? How do you explain it? Or the last election? The majority of “normal sane” Israelis voted for parties that have supported a two state solution. If it were not for “leftists” parties like Atid and Hatnua, Bibi likely would not be PM today. Chaim, stop vilifying your opponents; stop pretending your fantasies are facts; and above all, stop pretending that you speak for all of Israel. You don’t, no more than I do.
29. #28. Like putting lipstick on a pig.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.22.13)
There are a few mindless military frauds, in Israel, who shill for the clearly lunatic Two State Final Solution. Ehud Barak was the highest ranking of them all. Barak and his policies were utterly disastrous, and no rational person could claim otherwise. The Two State Final Solution is clearly deranged. It takes a special kind of lunacy to seek to turn Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp to induce genocidal terrorists to sign a worthless piece of paper. Trotting out a few military frauds to support this abomination is like putting lipstick on a pig.
30. #29 What color lipstick are you wearing?
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.22.13)
Are you claiming that the six former heads of Shin Bet, from 1980 to 2011, all of whom spent their entire lives defending Israel and on the frontline of the fight against terrorist are "deranged military frauds"?? Please tell us, where do you get YOUR security assessments from --besides a map, a ruler, the Jerusalem Post and its residents of Chelm.
