1. Missle defence is fine and can't come
Get Real ,   UK   (06.24.13)
soon enough, but it is not a deterrent so don't neglect the development of offensive missles.
2. cant waste $1 million missiles in hezbollah rockets
zionist forever   (06.24.13)
Iron Dome is expensive enough with its interceptors at $50,000 a pop but with the Magic Wand we cannot afford to spend $1 million whenever Hezbollah fire a rocket at us the things should be reserved for dealing with much more dangerous cruise missiles. The first line of defense should be armed UAVS circling the border 24/7. If they see somebody setting up a rocket preparing to launch then hot them with a Hellfire missile. Much cheaper than using a $1 million interceptor and more practical because we are killing the terrorist before they can even fire the rockets. The very best solution would be if the Syran civil war spills over into Lebanoon creating another Lebanese civil war so Hzbollah will be so busy fighting in Lebanon they will have neither time or weapons to waste on a war with Israel.
3. #2 --$1 mn missle v dud rocket

Grad rocket dud (found in W Negev) Expensive exchange
4. to # 2
Richard S. ,   Miami, USA   (06.25.13)
The system is designed to only launch if a rocket is determined to fall on a populated area. $50,000 is expensive but if it falls and destroys a house or 3 cars, the cost is higher than $50,000. If it maims a person and he/she loses a leg the cost of the hospital plus lifetime rehab is greater than $50,000 For Magic Wand, the rockets it will intercept can knock out a refinery, an Intel factory, an airport tarmac, a power plant, etc.. the cost of replacement and repair besides downtime is greater than $1 million. That is on top of estimated cost for hospital, loss of income and injuries for hundreds that can be wounded or killed by such a large rocket.
5. What about laser technology?
Joe Rodriguez ,   San Antonio, TX   (06.25.13)
How about investing more in Laser technology to stop these rockets? Lockheed Martin is developing anti rocket Lasers, where cost estimates were about $1000 a shot, much cheaper than $50,000 for an Iron dome missile.
