Michael, don't fool yourself. Rosenfeld is right, Besides, The Land was given to the Jewish people and to no one else. You and your lefties friends and the Arabs have to come to terms with it. : THE LAND IS JEWISH LAND
33. Expelling the Palestinians Would Be The End Of Israel
World Citizen ,   the world   (06.26.13)
This "final solution" to Israel's self- caused problems would be the death knell of your country. Even the Americans would stand against Israel in the UN.
34. really?
marck ,   nyc usa   (06.26.13)
the writer points out how people live with chronic diseases but fails to mention the obvious, in the end they die. israel can be brave enough and bold enough to accept the current status quo so long as she maintains her qualitative edge militarily. all one needs to do is look back at the 2006 conflict with hezbullah. 30 years ago that coflict and it's results would have been beyond comprehension in israel. the times they are a changing and israel needs to be wise, careful and brave and look to end this conflict once and for all.
35. eternal war
jack ,   US   (06.26.13)
islam has been at war with the infidel, and itself, for 1300 years, since day one, why should the 13th century of this war, ours, be different from the previous 12 answer - not --- 'peace' is the absence of shooting, in one measure; there is minimal shooting between pals and izzies, therefore there is peace, the peace of conquest, pax judaica,-- what is wanted for renegotiation is some OTHER peace, but 'peace'??!! - we have peace - - since islam is perpetually at war with itself as we see in Syria, with islamic-unique barbarism, what we see now, is that the safest place for a muslim, in the great muslim arc from tunisia to Indonesia, is inside israel - re 'illegal' occupation the entire western occupation of the former and future ottoman empire is by that reasoning illegal that said, the UN creation of israel in 1947 has never been accepted by islam, and islam has launched several wars without UN authorization against israel, thus making Islam doubly, outlaw nations, by nonacceptance of UN decisions - and so should be expelled from the society of nations they are all outlaw nations and have no lectern for lecturing the west -- islam can start by paying reparations for sixty years of war, rewriting their history books to blame themselves, and hanging their war leaders - the jews held out in diaspora 2000 years, we'll see how much staying power Islam has, or the pals

37. If Israel goes to war with the Muslim World
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (06.26.13)
they will be playing into the hands of the criminal banking elite who are pushing for World War III, so they can cash in bigtime! To my fellow Israelis, don't make their day. Don't give in to hatred.
38. Time is against Israel
Itamar ,   Ramar Gan   (06.26.13)
All this is right, but I think time is not is Israel's favor, Israel is getting more and more isolated, a time may come, that Israeli planes will not be able to land anywhere except in the Usa, this would be catastrophic, something must be done
39. peace with palestinians
bob ,   nyc usa   (06.26.13)
Unfortunately, the author nailed it. There will not be peace because the Arab side cannot accept an infidel presence (especially a Jewish one) in the region where Islam first reached after thrusting out of the Arabian Peninsula. We've seen the proof in recent history. In 2000, Arafat turned down Barak's generous offer of 90% land return on the West Bank, with added land exchanges. In 2008, Abbas turned down Olmert's extremely generous offer of 94% with land exchanges for the rest, and a re-division of Jerusalem. This too was turned down. thecamelshumpblog.com

Peace through VICTORY. Defeat your enemies. Don't manage an endless conflict - end it.

Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.27.13)
History sure ain't your forte, nor do you have any knowledge of the military. The Arabs are busy killing each other right now. Those are the same Arabs whom we have defeated many times already. Unlike America we are getting stronger and the Arabs like America are getting weaker. Yes we can have defeated all the combined Arab armies. We don't want to do it again, but will if we must

44. #42 - Typical Israeli delusion
spyguy ,   Seattle   (06.27.13)
Those Muslim you so casually dismiss, just drove the US out of Iraq and are in the process of driving the US out of Afghanistan just as they did the soviets and Brits. Note that the US has far, far more resources than Israel will ever have. Just as others have learned from defeat, the Arabs are a lot stronger than you suppose meaning that Israel has, at best, a 50% chance of winning the next big war. Israel has no "magic" weapons and has, at best, 3 million people willing to die for Israel - when they are gone, Israel loses. Don't let your delusions and extreme hubris lead to to a devastating defeat.
45. Conflict management is all that's ever been done here
Shachar ,   Eilat   (06.27.13)
Rabin was the only leader who really tried to resolve the conflict and he was far from convinced it was possible. Shaul puts conflict management on the table like it's something new. Guess what, that's all any Israeli (or Palestinian) gov't has done. As he points out no conflict lasts forever, so when the timing becomes right it would pay to be ready to take that opportunity. I don't see that opportunity existing today but like the fall of the Berlin wall, things can change suddenly...
46. #44 spyguy - Keep dreaming
Juha Teuvonnen ,   Boston,MA   (06.27.13)
Mr. "spyguy", I am sorry to say but your knowledge of the subject seems to be sorely lacking and your assessments seem to be dead wrong. While sheer numbers of personnel and armored vehicles are important, assessment is much more complicated when it comes to modern warfare. Iraq had a lot of soldiers and armored vehicles during the first Gulf war. A lot of good it did? Which Arab countries are going to challenge Israel militarily? Lebanon? Syria? Jordan? Even in the improbable scenario where they team up, they have no chance of succeeding. The only country that could hypothetically pose a credible threat is Egypt. They have no reason to do it, as they got all they wanted through peace talks, but let's put that aside. First, they would need to go through presently demilitarized Sinai, which is a bit of a drive for them. Should Israel achieve aerial superiority at that point, it's 1967 all over again. EAF uses US equipment, and US has all the codes and frequencies for radars, comms and etc. You are not going to win an aerial war, if you are flying deaf and blind. Just ask Syrians how well it worked out for them in 1982.
47. #27 comment to "Time to face reality"
George Weiss ,   Teaneck, USA   (06.27.13)
The author does not say that israel will prevail, just that the resolution of the conflict may not be possible unless one side wipes out the other. I think another way is a revolution in Moslem philosophy, but this does not seem to be happening any time soon.
48. #46 - It is not 1967 or 1982 anymore
spyguy ,   Seattle   (06.27.13)
While no Arab nation wants war at the moment, if it comes they will NOT be as weak as you suppose. Using the Iraq invasion example just shows how little you understand. While the US was able to push into Iraq fairly quickly, the US got its head handed to it in the long term. Your assumption is IF Israel can hold air superiority, they will win, yet the US LOST in both Iraq and Afghanistan with so-called "air superiority." But the biggest reason Israel might lose is the extreme hubris and lack of diplomatic skills Israelis have which will cripple their ability to manage the situation as it deteriorates. Your "dreams" of an easy Israeli "victory" are very likely to turn into a long and terrible nightmare.
49. Irreversible conflic
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif USA   (06.27.13)
I don't know what anyone would think that the conflict can be resolved. Islamic doctrine calls for death to infidels. While some claim that "infidels" does not include "people of the book", i.e. Christians and Jews, prominent Islamic clerics have made it clear, in their recent Fatwas, that it does include Christians and Jews. And so, unless and until the Muslim World renounces the doctrine of "death to infidels", the conflict will be irreversible, and the decision to make it reversible rests with the Muslim World.
50. some problemes

some problemes have no solution only not to be a probelm .this is my son saying but it does not mean irresolvable conflict .
51. Time to face reality
Robert Cabitt ,   Boston,MA, USA   (06.28.13)
The rockets will continue to rain on Israel until they elect a prime minister who has the will and the courage to drive the Palestinians and Hamas out of Gaza and the West Bank. When George Bush gives back his Crawford,Texas ranch to the Native Americans is when peace will come to Israel. To the victor goes the spoils. Americans killed thousands of Indians during the conquest of the United States. The Indians that survived were placed in concentration camps euphemistically described as reservations where alcoholism and unemployment reigns. Since the Bureau of Indians Affairs has granted gambling casino licenses, some Indian tribes have prospered. Maybe gambling casinos are the solution for the Palestinians

bUILD BABY BUILD!!!! ,   United States   (06.28.13)

BUILD BABY BUILD!!!! ,   United States   (06.28.13)
Looks like the rank and file muslims are more than discontent with their 'religion' and their 'politics.' How many have muslims have died so far besides Syria??
54. #39 "generous offers"
chris (munich)   (06.28.13)
Where is the generosity in an offer that leaves the "generous" side in possession of some of the property of the other side?
55. To #47
Larry ,   Northridge, usa   (06.28.13)
Your analogy to the U.S. experience in iraq is invalid. The U.S. Was a foreign invader, who had no aim to annex iraq. Israel is defending its homeland(yeah, yeah, I know you consider them occupiers), and the population will not hide or support Israel's enemies. Israel's military superiority increases every day, and the guerilla war style of insurgancy will not work. I think the author's observation is valid. The arabs will never accept Israel, and haven't accepted it, and yet Israel has grown and prospered non the less. Why fix it if it aint broken.
