I am not sure, but I think the issue is as follows. Karsenty proved without a doubt that the A Dura film was faked, his mistake was hinting that Enderlin knew it was faked and presented it as truth. Enderlin said that since he was in Ramallah at the time, he could not have been in on the forgery. In other words, Enderlin admits that he received prizes and fame for putting his name on a story that he was too stupid to realize was false, and that he was defamed for being called evil instead of stupid.
