1. And then Mrs. Livni threatens Israel with UE boicott...
Miron ,   USA   (07.02.13)
Hashem, save us from our Jewish politicians.
2. You might want to that Israeli passport back
Abu Zibby ,   Haifa, IL   (07.02.13)
It was foolish enough to move to Belgium of all places, where Neo-Nazis and Islamists are united in barbarism.
3. Swastika on Tel Aviv apartment...
Peter Morris ,   New Zealand   (07.02.13)
wouldn't go down well. Israeli's like South Africans during aparthied era aren't going to get friendliest welcomes. No need to antagonize locals.
4. Europe is returning to the 1930's
Cipora Julianna Kohn   (07.02.13)
europe is totally hopeless. jews are just the canaries in the mine.
5. 1 Miron
Cipora Julianna Kohn   (07.02.13)
livni is a fool and a coward. however, she is just repeating what the despicable europeans are telling her. she lacks the strength of a ben gurion or of a shamir.
6. Outside of "Jewish areas" same is true in U.S.
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   netzarim.co.il   (07.02.13)
Freedom of (and from) religion is only for the Christians, atheists and insistent Muslims. Entire apartment complexes, gated communities and the like have rules against "irregular" appendages that extend to flags -- and mezuzot. Since Torah Jews generally live in a community where mezuzot are de rigueur, such rules, which effectively discriminate against Jews living there, go unnoticed and unchallenged. Christmas Jzeus is "in your face" for 2-3 months no matter where you go. You can't get away from the idolatry during that period in the U.S. And MOST of those who object to such idolatry could never qualify to move to Israel to follow Torah, either because they are not Jews or because their Jewish status is not racially pure enough for the Herodim. These who struggle to follow Torah are hated and persecuted by Christians AND by Herodim AND by Muslims -- a courageous and determined people.
7. #4
Mor   (07.02.13)
Do you think Israeli leftists are any less racists against haredim?
8. Worldwide Jew hatred
noel nesor ,   Israel   (07.02.13)
History repeats itself. Just as Germany pre WW2 Jews didn't, or didn't want to see the holocaust coming so all over Europe Jew hatred is becoming increasingly a factor in daily life. The conclusion is simple. There is only one country which will protect Jews against Jew hatred and that is, of course, Israel. So European Jews get out while you can. American Jews your days are also numbered.
9. #3 U can crawl back under your rock now
(07.02.13)
10. Good Luck
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (07.02.13)
Unfortunately the Jews in Belgium believe they are on the same playing field as the desperate, degenerate population. All their complaints will produce is more Jew-hatred, not justice. The problems facing the dying cultures of the EU will cause the institutions to target the Jew, that is all they are capable of doing historically. Jews come home. Help clean up Israel from the degenerates that want to emulate the ideologies that produced these dying cultures, so we can all watch these beasts destroy themselves. This is 'Arab Spring', Western style.
11. # 3 are you insane ??
Ed ,   Canada   (07.02.13)
A swastika symbolizes systematic killing of millions of Jews and others. That's why it wouldn't go well. No millions or thousands were ever killed in the name of Judaism. Even making such a comparison makes you either completely insane, or plain antisemitic and evil!
12. A double hate crime
Dan ,   Israel   (07.02.13)
Anti-Semites are notorious for attacking the weak and outnumbered, and this is a characteristic of racism and bullying in general. What changes the bully's mind of course is when he encounters people a bit more physically imposing than two women living alone. I know a few Israeli-Russian guys who would make these neighbors wish that they were the ones affixing mezzuzahs on their own doors.
13. Yes, but....
Mike ,   Tel Aviv   (07.02.13)
My initial reaction to this is one of contempt for the attackers because putting a mezuzah is not provokative at all. And indeed they should be condemned for such a physical attack. Then I thought, what would be the reaction of neighbours here if someone were to affix a small cross to their door? It wouldn't be good......
14. Once an anti-Semite, always anti-Semite
Ibn Abu   (07.02.13)
regardless of colour and creed. Police members are even more lethal when they take side with the primitive people as it obviously happened in this case. And by the way Peter of new Zealand, we will continue to "antagonize" these primitive anti-Semites till we surely will break their will. This time it is completely in our hands. We have our democratic state, our police, our army and most of all our people. A Jewish perpetrator here in Israel would have surely been arrested in a similar situation. But not in Belgium where democracy is part of a forgotten past.
15. ABU GOSH, same same
BEN JABO ,   Build Baby Build   (07.02.13)
This incident reminds of Abu Gosh. The same feeling of hate, the attacks, the absence of police, the cowardice, the intolerance... in the end, folks, come on, we do the same here. Just imagine if in your building a Muslim dude decides to affix in his door a Ramadan decoration sign...
16. Come right out and say it
Scarborough1414 ,   Scarborough, ON, CA   (07.02.13)
Were the attackers Islamic (either Arabs or their fellow travelers), or were they ethnic Flemish or perhaps even French-speaking Walloons? Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
17. #3 Peter Morris ..
NilsG ,   Helsingborg, Sweden   (07.02.13)
... you are simply wrong. The mezzuzah is not a symbol of Israel, it is a symbol of their religion. As such it should be respected, regardless of your feelings versus Israel - apparently, these perpetrators were not some "pro-palestinians" but old style brown shirt antisemites, though. This is a great shame for Belgium and the EU.
18. I don't remember seeing this story in the newspaper or
A ,   Belgium   (07.02.13)
on the news. Seems like the police may be covering it up in order not to publicize their disgustingly unprofessional behaviour.
19. Who Is The Wife Of Who, According To Jewish Tradition?
Ariel ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.02.13)
20. Flemish were Nazis in WW2 and well known antisemites
Laila ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.02.13)
Flemish were Nazis in WW2 and well known antisemites.
21. #13 A Cross on a Door would not Lead to Attacks
Ann ,   Netanya   (07.02.13)
and definitely, if attacked the police would find the perpetrator and punish him (them)
22. jews must organized themselves to FIGHT !
(07.02.13)
23. Flemishes support palestinians
(07.02.13)
24. @15 As long as friendly every Arab/Moslem always welcome.
olim hadashim ,   tel aviv/israel   (07.02.13)
25. Not a surprising story but keep fighting!
Mina ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.02.13)
Dear Ruth and Cindey, I am sorry to hear about your sad situation. As a Jew/Israeli who has lived in different regions of the world, I am not surprised by this ant-Semitic attack on you. I am further not surprised by the reaction of the Police. I have had the misfortune of suffering from anti-Semites who originated from all levels of those societies abroad. Their unjustified and sickening hatred towards Jews, is amongst other things an expression of a jealousy out of control, an evil kind of a learnt behavior, a severe mental disorder with no probable cure. In any event, do not stop fighting, we Jews/ Israelis continue to be forced to fight to be who we are. Be strong, just as our ancestors were, just as our future generations will be. And to those who have attacked you, I shall remind them of Genesis 12:3. Am Israel Chai!
26. #11 Really
Josh ,   Tel Aviv   (07.02.13)
Have you ever read the Torah. Do some research into the 3000yr old symbol known as the swastika maybe you will learn something....
27. her wife? maybe her husband?
larry ,   jerusalem   (07.02.13)
putting up a mezzuzah? blasphemy in religious garb? don i understand correct?
28. Homophobic comment
Lorne ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.02.13)
Was wondering how many comments would be posted before a homophobic one showed up. I guess anti-Semitism is okay if the victims are gay, according to the logic of Ariel ben-Yochanan.
29. Incomprehensible behaviour
Stefaan ,   Brussels / Belgium   (07.02.13)
Why would anyone attack those people for no reason? Judging from their names the attackers were not arab immigrants, but flemish folks. Disgusting.
30. #13, Mike, not true
Yael ,   bnei brak   (07.02.13)
I live in Bnei Brak and there is a Russian family in our building who put up a Christmas tree and Christmas lights. They treat the Haredi neighbors with respect and kindness and are treated with respect and kindness in return. I myself am not shomer shabbat and my religious neighbors are unfailingly nice to me.
