1. Reuters has done it again
Jerome ,   AKL   (07.22.13)
The photo is of African kids in Africa. Any connection between this article and the image is pure fiction. Investing in rockets instead of water-they voted for.
2. water
dan   (07.22.13)
There is plenty of water and money in Gaza but it is wasted. If hamas wanted they could fix the problem in minutes but do not so rest of world see the ppeople there in poverty. The world is so blind .
3. Do Issraelis realize that Gaza is a potential breeding
spyguy ,   seattle   (07.22.13)
ground for some really nasty diseases that will easily hop over the fence and cause many Israeli deaths? Once an epidemic starts in Gaza, no one in Israel will be safe. Maybe it is time for Israelis to re-think their whole treatment of Gaza.
4. Move the Gazans to Turkey
George ,   Ashdod   (07.22.13)
Maybe it's just time to for the population of Gaza to move. Turkey has plenty of water and Erdogan is their best friend. This is the perfect moment for a Gaza flotilla to Turkey!
5. Let them drink wine !
Tarbouche ,   Aswan   (07.22.13)
If these people had wise leaders, they would not have destroyed infrastructure left to them when Israel decamped its settlers. If these people had wise leaders, that spent money on desalination plants instead of rockets, they would have had more water If these people had wise leaders, that educated the children in science of life, and not hate and terror, they would have had the resources to solve their problems
6. If Hamas spent more time and money
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (07.22.13)
Looking after their people instead of trying to make war with Israel Only then can Gaza make progress
7. #5 Absolutely right, Tarbouche....100 fil 100
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (07.22.13)
You beat me to the post Pun intended ; )
8. Run toilets on a separate system of Sea Water
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (07.22.13)
35 percent of all water goes down the toilet. If Sea Water were used for only black water...Fecal Matter... and then treated properly...it could be funneled back to the Dead Sea by pipes and aqueducts to refill the Dead Sea. You would need a separate water and sewage line for the toilet systems. This would free up 35 percent more fresh water for Israel as well as the Gaza Strip. Needless to say....Raw Sewage wouldn't be flowing into the Mediterranean anymore. Shower Water and water for washing Dishes is a lot easier to clean without human feces in it....and can be recycled much easier.
9. Gaza contaminated water...good.
Austin ,   canada   (07.22.13)
after reading that megillah, all I can say is that it's a good thing to hear. I hope it's true. Then they'll all go back to Egypt where they came from and we'll be rid of them.
10. #3 - Did you ever stop to think of the contrary?
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.22.13)
Maybe it's time for Hamas to re-think its whole approach to Israel? Biting the hand that can solve your problems is far from smart.
11. to them to do the right thing
michel ,   Ashkelon   (07.22.13)
Instead of investing in kasamim and killing people they can chose to do what it takes to develop the resources they need. NO HELP, No WATER TO THEM .LET THEM TO CHOSE THEIR PATH.
12. Good to know Hamas has its priorities straight
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.22.13)
Instead of investing in water, Hamas is investing in improving its weapons manufacturing (longer range rockets).
13. many places on earth are unlivable
CJK   (07.22.13)
the gazans should stop the practice of polygamy, giving birth to twenty-thirty children, importing women from egypt and elsewhere, and then their population will gradually go down. in 1945 there were 145,000 arabs in gaza. today, there are at least 1,500,000 people in gaza. any place that grows ten fold in half a century deserves its fate.
14. Pallywood crocodile tears
Ben ,   Israel   (07.22.13)
When will the international community hold the Fakestinians responsible for their actions rather than blaming Israel and the Jews? The credit of the situation in Gaza belongs to Hamas which prefers Islamo-fascist genocidal Jew-hatred over socio-economic development and human rights.
15. #3...Think youve got the wrong end of the stick
Tim ,   Brighton   (07.22.13)
Its not Israel creating this mess Its Hamas self imposed isolation by perpetuating a State of War with Israel and setting in its Charter Israels Destruction In addition, Hamas is treating Gaza almost like a little fiefdom from which a few are accumulating BILLIONS yes BILLIONS at the expense of the majority (whilst UNWRA looks blankly on) Israel doe not want any confrontation with Gaza but will not compromise on its security The moment Hamas realise that cooperation is better than confrontation - then this will be the start of resolving some of the urgent tragedies of Hamas making that are the cause of Gazan suffering
16. Suits me ! Let the UK have them (end)
DT ,   TA Israel   (07.22.13)
17. (3) SSpyguy
tiki ,   belgium   (07.22.13)
And this has to do with Israel because? Israel is out of the game. Not ONE Israeli over there (Shalit is out) Fan your hate towards Hamas/Egypt, they are the boss over there! Egypt even closed the WALL between them. But your ''love for Gaza has nothing to do with Gaza, isn't it SSpyguy?
18. The Gazans committed a crime against Allah
Dmitry ,   Israel   (07.22.13)
They have destroyed the aquifer and the nature in Gaza through overpopulation and ignorance. Just like the Romans' destruction of North African forests, that led to the population collapse there and desertification, this is a crime against a creation of Allah. Israel, the original people who choose to follow Allah, should have nothing to do with these blasphemers.
19. They wud do the same with Israel if GF they got their way
Alan ,   SA   (07.22.13)
20. Oh gosh ... how sad
Mike ,   NZ   (07.22.13)
Perhaps Hamas can divert some of the funds they get from missile manufacture to repairs to their water supply . . I'm sure Israel would help if only they would stop trying to kill them ... and be good neighbours !! Do you think thats asking a bit much ?
21. Let Turkey send them FREE WATER
Sam Sweiry ,   Eastbourne - UK   (07.22.13)
How about Turkey who are king of the water will send pure fresh water by tankers to Gaza Population - Turkey Politicians - are you listening?
22. 13 + 15 say it all
Israeli grandma   (07.22.13)
Much easier to blame Israel for all your troubles, then you dont have to take any effective action. Gazans, Just go on shnorring from the gullible West, manipulating UNWRA which perpetuates "refugee" status, and excessive breeding of workless and aimless population, living in its own excreta and brainwashed by its dictators, Hamas against neighbouring Israel. No surprise Egypt doesnt want to let them into Egypt.
23. #8. Congratulations
Tim ,   Brighton   (07.22.13)
All that talk of the unmentionables has managed to put me off my breakfast And putting me off breakfast - that takes some doing!
24. You get what you order
olavi ,   espoo, finland   (07.22.13)
Hamas has concentrated to jihadist action by educating youngters as osoldiers. It should put effprts to solve the water problem. It surely has money. But they know stupid west may build the desalination plants, so they can save their money to purchase arms.
25. Gaza
(07.22.13)
Life in Gaza many more times better than in Egypt as well as many African countries. It is populated by people from Sudan. The standard of living is very high by Arab standards. Quatar and other states give them regularly billions of dollars. Most Africans would like to live in Gaza.
26. Gaza would be beachfront paradise had Israel kept it..
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.22.13)
Our Gaza problems, like virtually all Israel's serious problems, stem from Israeli retreats. Had Israel remained in Gaza and continued to develop it, it would be a beachfront paradise by now. Moreover, Israel would not have to worry about rockets and wars in Gaza.
27. Gaza
NYC Girl   (07.22.13)
That's why we say, "Shit happens."
28. In Gaza interest to get refugee issue resolved
Sam ,   Canada   (07.22.13)
Do the people of Gaza want to live real lives or do they just want to serve as a thorn in Israel's sides? Palestinians are the ones who have refused to have the refugee issue resolved.
29. They Wanted Independence from Israel.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.22.13)
And they got it. But, they have no idea how to run a country. Gaza is doomed.
30. Maybe it would be easier to find donors..
Zusha ,   NYC   (07.22.13)
For the desalination project in Gaza if the EU wasn't so burnt from previously funded projects, which never happened because the palistinian government stole all the money for themselves. Remember when the EU was throwing money at palistinians and all Arafat was doing was building his comrades large homes, and buying weapons? Remember when the EU gave $900 million to the PA, and the money all but disappeared?? And then Arafat died, and his wife somehow inherited $900 million dollars. That is exactly why nobody is funding the PA's and Gaza projects anymore. Because everyone knows where the money is going to end up. In the pockets of the corrupt and vile leaders of the perpetual charity case called the palistinians.
