One of my friends has to deal with a vengeful ex-wife who every month files charges against him for various, untrue things. They are all groundless and dismissed right away, but they all go on record that the charges were filed. All he wants is to see his kids more than once a week and she is trying to completely deny him that. Women can be just as terrible or worse in a divorce as men. When kids are involved, women hold all the power under Israeli law.

I suspect the statistics quoted are very conservative. In truth, in the Haredi community, our Mothers, Sister and Daughters face abuse at every step. Sit at the back of the bus, walk behind the man, dress to invisibility and subjugate yourself if you want a divorce. This is exactly why all of the special treatment for the Haredim, must STOP. We as Israeli's must force these people into the 21st century; where Women receive total equality and Haredi males contribute to society, just like the rest of us!

As I know, marriage is an institution which forces the man and woman to stay together, at least till the children are grown enough (or till the death...) that is why the two get married, to be forced to be together. I am recently divorced. I came to a friendly mutual agreement with the ex. I see my boy 2-3 times a week and every other weekend. She wants me in his life despite the divorce. I pay child support and thank G-d nothing more, no alimony or any other such nonsense like the Ketubah. If anything tthat outdated damn Ketubah nonsense needs to go. Women nowadays take advantage of the kids and of the law too much. I will probably have another child outside of marriage, there are plenty of women that also prefer not to get married. What a pain in the ass, I never new it was that bad.
