1. What about the other sons of Ibragim? Mr. Lieberman
Miron ,   USA   (07.07.13)
demanded equal conscruption for all. Cowardly Netaneyahoo gutted his bill and cut out 1/4 of Israel from Army service, selling Israel, yet agin, in return for political favors. This show isn't even funny. Considering that only 4% of Israel is deeply religious Jewish people and 50% of their families serve in IDF army, just as rabeinu Fogel did, this is another Potiomkin village.
2. Cabinet adopts haredi draft bill to ultra-Orthodox scorn
George Weiss ,   Teaneck, USA   (07.07.13)
What about a draft bill for Arabs? No one is even talking about this. The state is afraid if they this, the Arabs will resist and start another intifada. What if teh Charedim resist. After all, the government is trying to change their entire life style. This is a big mistake that will backfire. The Charedim listen to their Rebbas and do whatever he wants. if he call for disobedience, is Israel going to fill it's jails with young men? And will otheer draft dodgers also be jailed?

(07.07.13)
Chilonim are proving themselves to be first class fools with their belief of forcing charedim to the military. Don't the chilonim understand that the Rabbis are much more powerful than all their threats. Israel govenment becoming a laughingstock to the world.
8. #4 no, the next civil war in the Middle East will be
Israel   (07.07.13)

9. does anyone knw what tomorrow is?
jewish history   (07.07.13)
We are currently in the 3 weeks the most dangerous and ddestructuve time for Jewish people throughou their history. Tomorrow begins the 9 days on Rosh Chodesh Av. The coincidence that this decision would take place during this time is eery.
10. Tragic mistake by ego thirsty politicians
Joe ,   Bet Shemesh   (07.07.13)
This will never improve the army. It will further divide society since the Heredim were gradually volunteering more and more for combat units. Now to try and force more people to become Shekemist instead of learning in Yeshiva which is the true protection of Isreal! We already have so many people who do not want to serve and now we will force an entire segment of society that has no interest in serving in the army to make them into Shekemists? If you did not know after serving in the army in Givati a Shekemist is a canteen worker in the army that basically does nothing all day then goes home. They are really protecting the state more than a Yeshiva student? As most people know the only answer to improving the army is to professionalize it. If you want to improve Heredi society you are doing it the wrong way.
11. By 2017 the Hareidim will be able to overturn it
Avi   (07.07.13)
It should have been for now.
12. Not to worry. The modern day Haman
A.C.   (07.07.13)
will have his downfall just like his ancestor. A few sincere prayers is all that's needed.
13. Draft the haredi parasites
Haim ,   TA   (07.07.13)
Once agian they are getting a soft option is there no end to the amount of slack the state gives these parasites, draft the lot of them and make men of them. Those of them who dont serve or do service for the state can be put in jail where they will be assured of 3 kosher meals aday. Enough of their nonsense.
14. To all those that are so blind that they refuse to see:
Runner1982 ,   USA   (07.07.13)
Haredim are a rapidly growing segment of the Israeli population, and therefore are important to the future of the state, and must shoulder their economic and military responsibilities. Their future large proportion of the population demands it. This means haredi children must be given the proper education in secular subjects to take on this responsibility, and be permitted to work and serve in the IDF. It is hard to understand why haredi rabbis and their followers don't acknowledge this.
15. The true protection of Israel
JeanH ,   USA   (07.07.13)
is the living of Torah NOT the study of Torah!
16. Christians want to serve
rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (07.07.13)
Government sould support voices in the Christian community calling on Christian arabs to serve. Government should make sure Christians are protected from muslim threats and free to voice their opinions
17. Finally!
Yoni ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.13)
Thank you Yair and Yaacov for the great deed you have done!
18. #12
litvac120 ,   wellington   (07.07.13)
Where were your prayers in 1940's. Can stupidity be so total. Or is it inbreeding? litvac120
19. Rami-I'm with you baby.
Koose E Mack ,   NY USA   (07.07.13)
Rami, couldn't agree more. However, I believe Arabs of all religions living in Israel should be part of the IDF. Israel may be a "Jewish State", but it should protect, respect, and give benefits to all of it's citizens no matter who or what they are. On the other hand, they must be willing to serve,
20. #2 It would be very ironic
Avi   (07.07.13)
If the haredim refuse to share the burden on their shoulders and assist the state that feeds and protect them, that they'd be willing to fight and kill their own brothers instead of their people's enemies. Very ironic.
21. To disturbed #13
eli ,   israel   (07.07.13)
Haim, thank you for doing charedi pr. With your acerbic rhetoric, gross biases, and outright hatred for people you know barely know anything about, one should think twice about becoming as anti-haredi as you. Such hatred is not a sign of a healthy person. I'm no Breslover but man, you got some meditation to do.
