1. Haredi duplicity
Itzik ,   Israel   (07.08.13)
The Kotel belongs to Klal Yisrael, the totality of the Jewish people, not just the Haredim. These are the same Haredim who refuse to serve in the IDF; the same IDF that liberated the Kotel from Jordanian occupation. Simple solution: no Haredi service in the IDF; no Haredi access to the Kotel.
2. Haredi contribution to Israeli society
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (07.08.13)
has been limited to hate, conflict en religious fundamentalism. They gladly accept everything that Israel gives them, but (sometimes literally) spit in our faces when the state or its people ask something in return. They claim the Kotel for themselves, yet forget that without (secular) Israel and the IDF the Jordanians wouldn't have allowed them there in the first place. I hope this coalition will prove to be the beginning of the end of the Haredi supremacy in Israel, and the beginning of a society in which everyone has the same privileges but also duties and burdens. This includes the Western wall. If they don't like it they can move to Brooklyn or Antwerp and try to enforce their way of life on the people there.
3. Losing my sympathy for these women
Robin Fogelberg ,   Jerusalem   (07.08.13)
The women pictured do not meet the minimal modesty requirements of the same Judaism that created the Tallit and Tfilin they fight to wear. Are they fighting for Egalitarian treatment or the right to create a pick-and-choose religion based on Jewish symbols? It really seems they are more about fighting than anything else.
4. to #1
(07.08.13)
The Reform want to give Temple Mount to Arabs. In fact, al Left was responsible for Oslo. In 1948, Reform were against the State of Israel, and their people were for State of "palestine" in place of Israel. Progressives are for devision of Jerusalem. In 1967, the Left were against Rav Goren who came with shofar near the Temple Mount. The ideology of conservative is to give up the Temple Mount. What do you think? I think that these very, very small buch of people want simply distruct all Jews. If they bring some 200,000 from the Ramat Aviv and begin crying that Temple Mount is Jewish then I will change my mind.
5. Yossi Deutch
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.08.13)
It is not the Women of the Wall that are dividing the people. It is the Haridi that refuse to accept them that are dividing the Jewish people.
6. Apparently the harideem own Jewdism
Haim ,   TA   (07.08.13)
and the wall. Well news flash men in black, we are all free to worship or not in anyway we feel appropriate
7. Shame on you Yossi Deutsch!
Avishai ,   Israel   (07.08.13)
Jerusalem's acting mayor Yossi Deutsch (United Torah Judaism), who was among the protest's organizers, said: "The Western Wall is a place that unites the Jewish people. It's a shame that on the first day of the Month of Av a group of women would come here and divide the people." It's the Heredi that are dividing the Jewish people. Jews come to pray and you chase them away??? Shame on you!!!
8. My opinion: I am tired of WOW selfishness...
Israeli Woman ,   Israel   (07.08.13)
NO WHERE is the minority better protected than in Israel... but these women are going to the level of disrespect for everyone else's feelings. They are doing this in the month of Menachem Av during the 9 days....not nice. Their divisive "fascist hippie" selfishness is ruining it for all of us. This is so not good.
9. O I c: police were meant to succumb to WOW bullying!
Israela ,   Israel   (07.08.13)
Ladies get over yourselves. Your shenanigans are going to be used by right wing groups to justify a "solution" to a bigger problem ... prayer on TEMPLE MOUNT. You are encouraging baseless hatred amongst Jews!
10. Let me get this straight...
Ariel ,   Sydney, Australia   (07.08.13)
Gd fearing women who want to pray in a women only prayer group, who have diligently done so for 24 years are told they are heretics....while the so-called Haredim ("Gd fearers") hurl verbal and physical abuse at their fellow Jews on the eve of Tisha B'Av. The protesters should do a full cheshbon hanefesh and ask themselves how "frum" they really are when they forgo tefillah for abusing others. They should do teshuva and join WoW in a powerful women's only prayer showing only love on Rosh Hodesh E.L.L.U.L. (Ani L'dodi V'dodi Li).
11. Hey I see the wives of 2 provocateurs, Lapid & Bennett there
(07.08.13)
12. Gay Marriage and WoW have something in common
(07.08.13)
While marriage today is deemed outdated and old-fashioned for many secular and non-Jews, the gays, who are trying to be legitimate and accepted (by whom?) are the ones getting married. Whom are they trying to fool except for themselves? While the husbands of the WoWs do not go to shul, do not pray, do not put on tefillin, their wives are trying to be legitimate and accepted (by whom?) and are the ones praying and putting on tefillin. Whom are they trying to fool except for themselves?
13. Hardim outprotest Wow - wow!! that's good news
jrebecca ,   modiin   (07.08.13)
Good for these Hardi girls who, according to other reports, peacefully filled up the Kottel area and davened, as they often do, any day of the week. (the disturbances were done by males..) What better way to show these attention seeking, once a month Jewish women how it's done.
14. no freedom of religion on temple mount double standard
yoni ,   jerusalem   (07.08.13)
the "liberals" have a double standard and only want freedom of religion against the charedim. the arabs prevent free worship on the temple mount and in many other places in Israel but of course the liberals somehow still support them....
15. #4: Reform is Zionist; Haredim are not
Itzik ,   Israel   (07.08.13)
Reform WAS anti-Zionist but is now pro-Zionist. Reform and Conservative Israelis serve in the IDF shoulder to shoulder with the secular and national religious. Haredim? They shirk IDF service and national service, some 60% of Haredi men don't work, they are non-Zionist and some are still anti-Zionist. Yet, they demand a monopoly at the Kotel, demand to monopolize religious life in Israel and demand subsidies from those of us who work and pay taxes. Dayenu!
16. It's about respect
Ephraim ,   Jerusalem   (07.08.13)
This has nothing to do with equality, it is about respect for others. These women can pray in a way that will not offend the majority of people. Yes, the majority. I am not Haredi, but I think the Wall is a special place, and most Jews, even non-Jews, have no problem wearing a kipa (yarmuke) or head covering when entering the Kotel area of out respect, even if they never wore one in their life. These women have their freedom to worship in whatever attire they desire, to carry a Torah, or do whatever else they like in their homes, their own synagogues, or any other place, just not in the holiest place for Jews (until we are again allowed on the Temple Mount). They do not need to shove their fanatic ideas down the throats of the rest of us. Women are not discriminated in Israel, which is what these women want the world to think. A Christian person, man or woman, would not walk into a church in a thong bathing suit, or act in a disrespectful manner during a church service. Same thing here. Respect the place, and other people. Every Jew has free will, so if some of us decide to only follow certain rules, that is our choice. That does not mean that there are different rules for different Jews. There is one Torah, not one for each sect of Judaism. It is ironic that women that do not believe in Jewish law or traditions want to even pray at the Kotel. It has nothing to do with their religious rights, it is just a stage for them and their ultra-fanatic feminism, and we are all fools to allow them to suck us into their drama. Leave the Kotel alone.
17. a small group of women who are seeking attention
Dave ,   FL   (07.08.13)
these women are looking for lots of attention, like most two year old's, they are way out numbed by the sem girls, they should be seeking a good shrink that can help them get a life. most of them are not part of any group, just a bunch of individuals who are looking to have some fun in life. when they get pms they come to the kotel to let it out
18. #12; How do you know what the husbands of WoW do?
Itzik ,   Israel   (07.08.13)
And what business is it of yours or the government's? Do WoW's husbands put on tefillin in the morning? I bet many do. Do they wear kippah? I don't know. I don't care. It is not your business as a citizen what other citizens do religiously. Nor is it the government's business. And, inasmuch as the Kotel belongs to Klal Yisrael, and the government pays for the Kotel's upkeep and security, then the Kotel belongs to every Israeli citizen, and every Jew in the world regardless if they put tefillin, or not.
19. #6 Haim, you're right, charedim own Judaism
Dov   (07.08.13)
If not for charedim there would be no Judaism and thus no Eretz Yisrael, since the secularists do not keep Torah and have no problem intermarrying. You and and all secularists should thank charedim for preserving Judaism and for the state of Eretz Yisrael.
20. All Hypocrites
Uri ,   Israel   (07.08.13)
While the charedim are completely intolerant and demonstrating against the abuse of the jewish religion by abusing it themselves, the WoW are calling on the police to do their duty while up until a few months they were breaking the law by praying in a place they werent aloud to. Without discussing the legitimacy of these laws, its highly hypocritical to ignore it one moment and the next shout against other who go against it.
21. #1
Sane   (07.08.13)
It certainly does not belong to these reform neo-christains who would block the rebuilding of the temple if they could.
22. #10
Sane   (07.08.13)
You got it crooked. They are not G-d-fearing. The leader is a reform jew, i.e. belongs to a group that would do everything in their power to stop the rebuilding of the Temple they claim is so holy to them (they are against animal-sacrafice, which is the main purpose of the Temple)
23. #18 The Kotel belongs to Jews and non-Jews
Dave   (07.08.13)
who respect the holy site. WoW are there not with respect to this sacred place and not to pray but to aggravate those who sincerely go there to pray and therefore should be banned from the Kotel for good. They have no right to bother others.
24. I have a dream
Sagi   (07.08.13)
That one day a bikini parade will march through Mea Shearim. I have a dream. That one day Black Coats and and pork eaters will live in harmony. I have a dream. That one day guys with funny hats will wear a pilots helmet. I have a dream. That one day women will get respect from men who think they are just baby factories. I have a dream, oh, maybe I am just dreaming.
25. #22 Sane makes my po
Itzik ,   Israel   (07.08.13)
The misnamed "Sane" makes my point. Your intolerance, hatred and regressive theology is exactly why the Kotel should not dominated by the Haredim. The Kotel is a national treasure, a special place for all Jews regardless of what stream of Judaism they belong to. I experienced personally the "piousness" of Harediam when I was at a WoW prayer service at the Kotel. The baseless hatred, the sinat hinam, I experienced from Haredim was atrocious. The spitting, name calling, violent gestures, throwing of hot cups of coffee and eggs. Is that the Judaism you aspire to?
26. SHAME - SHAME on you all those hooligans
Sam Sweiry ,   Eastbourne - UK   (07.08.13)
I dont tolerate viiolence - Shame on you all those who took part in bullying and you call yourself fearing God - which God do you worship? - I respect your view - keep it to yourself - this earth is given to all of us - you dont have the right to impose what you believe to convert others to your level - I say Shame on you once more
27. This is deeply distressing
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.08.13)
Women do not wrap tefillin. Women do not don a tallit. It is not for these "women of the wall" to rewrite Judaism. If they want to found a religion of their own, well, fine. They can haul ass out of Israel and go live among the Hottentots. They are a vile excuse for Jews.
28. 2? in 5000+?
Mark ,   israel   (07.08.13)
Anyone writing about hoodlums, violence etc - there were thousands of people and 2 (TWO) were detained for questioning? You have no basis for trashing what was an extremely peaceful protest by the Haredim.
29. What a travesty
Judith ,   Brooklyn, NY   (07.08.13)
These WoW people are just infuriating. I hope that Israel's Jews finally put them in their place far from the Kotel. They are mainly American reforn Jews with nothing better to do with their time. Crazy ultra radical feminists.Sickening.
30. to Itzik #1
madrie ,   spain   (07.08.13)
There is one God of Israel. Not the secular and at the sixth place the 'haredim'. You, Itzik, should not speak evil of people that follow God day and night.
