1. it used to be deadly, but today it is just popcultur
ghostq   (08.27.13)
and boring, can't believe people actually make it hot topic. they have too much time on their hands. when I said deadly, I didn't mean WW2related. more of a trible mark, so when parlors say trible tattoo note for yourself' - every tattoo is trible tattoo even flowers that were very common in the cradle of tattoo, the place also known as Sumatra.
2. It is written -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (08.27.13)
" He (Elohim) made Them Man and Woman" !. Is the creation not Perfect? To add something to it seems to indicate that, the creation of Elohim is not. Tattoing is a Pagan Practice and, does not belong to the Chosen People of HASHEM. Those Willingly Tattoing Themselves, is Knowingly or Unknowingly Mocking Elohim of HASHEM. Arn.Sweden.
3. Ignorance of Jewish Tradition Rampant
ArticleLacksDepth ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.27.13)
The subject of Jews and tattoos deserves a lot more explanation than this so called article. Imitating the worst in pagan society identifying with it through their customs is the basic reason for the prohibitions The prohibition in the Torah is very explicit a person who tattoos themselves cuts themselves off from their people and their G-d I wonder how many of these people who claim to be "proud Jews" observe even the most basic of Jewish traditions. Ignorance among the Jewish world is legion sadly and this is one example of it not to mention the author of the article's.
4. Does it really matter?
Ilan ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (08.27.13)
when i'm dead they can cut the chunk off like a piece of stake for all i care!
5. Rabbi Artson is mistaken
Aharon ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.27.13)
Removing tattoos is ALSO forbidden by the Torah. Many Jews who are chozer bitshuva have tattoos from when they were secular and they cannot get them removed now that they want to. But i dont think most people consider tattoos to be such a major issue or stigma. Much more important to focus on mitzvot like being nice to others.
6. wow
Sam Krow ,   Seattle   (08.27.13)
this is one of the most idiotic pieces i've ever come across on Ynet...
7. Tattoos
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.27.13)
They are ugly and vile. Jews who get tattoos voluntarily --please convert. Body "art" is just not a Jewish thing, so if you want body "art" -- convert. My parents, of blessed memory, were tattooed. In Auschwitz. Go ahead, idiots. Tattoo away. Just don't be expected to be treated as Jews.

gingi ,   america   (08.27.13)
god doesn't want you to permanently mark your skin because you are made perfectly in his image, but he does want you to cut the tip of your penis off because you were made perfectly in his image? both acts sound suspiciously pagan....
10. Eating Shrimp Is A Sin Getting A Tattoo Is Merely Disgusting

Once again Sarah B demonstrates the depths of a marble tile. By and large her moving definitions of what a Jew is or is not, is comical at best.
13. Comment to Ynet and to #7
R ,   Israel   (08.27.13)
Ynet - did you add the line "Can person with tattoo be buried in Jewish cemetery?" I didn't find the answer in the article. #7 "They are ugly and vile" is your opinion. Why would anyone convert based on your dislike of tattoos? You usually have a bit more substance to your comments.
14. Oh it is a sin
Linda ,   New Haven, Conn.   (08.27.13)
Lets just chalk up another sin, sin of a human "coming short of the glory of G-d" I don't want to,,,,, and don't need,,,,,, to look at your body as much as you do.

You are !. On the Other hand - be my gest and become removed !. Arn.Sweden.
18. I have tattoos and I'm a Jew.
Jason ,   USA   (08.27.13)
I have 3 tattoos, one of them being a Star of David. I plan on getting more tattoos. One of them being Israel and Jerusalem in Hebrew over my heart, and another being Psalm 137:5 - 6 (If I Forget Thee O Jerusalem). I am as Jewish as one can be. Whoever says a Jew with tattoos isn't a Jew because they "sinned", I suggest you go through all 613 mitzvot and make sure you follow every one you are able to (since not all are available since the Temple is gone). If you have followed every single one to the letter, then you can talk about someone not being a Jew because they broke "Jewish law". Otherwise, shut your mouth on who is a Jew.

split ,   US   (08.27.13)
Read about Sargon the Great, his story was recorded around 1200 years before your biblical Moses, was born if you believe that he existed. Moses story is almost a carbon copy of Sargon of Akkad, story also known as Sargon the Great ,... You see pal, without Moses your fairy tales are just a fairy tales ,...
20. Ugly
Moshe ,   Los Angeles, USA   (08.28.13)
Tattoos are plain ugly, and very goyishe. Jews should be buried in Jewish cemeteries because when you're dead the tattoo won't exist after the body decays. But please don't emulate the worst of popular culture.
21. stay away from tattoo'd people
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (08.28.13)
Tattoo'ing is a "tell" of narcisism and solipsism. Find friends who don't have Borderline Personality Disorder. Tattoo'd people have psychological problems
22. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.28.13)
But not nearly as entertaining as a schizophrenic who claimed to be the son of G-d and was raised from the dead .... Now THAT is a ridiculous fairy tale. Well -- let's see. Joan of Ark claimed to hear the voice of G-d. These days, we lock people like that up in rubber rooms. News flash: G-d does not need a son. He does not need a mother (who got pregnant out of wedlock). He does not need brothers, sisters, aunts or uncles. Your miraculous "savior" is nothing but a fraud. Accept the facts, and move on. You're still waiting for a second coming, aren't you? I guess the first didn't do the trick. Gee, I wonder why.

let me guess...you are probably a disgusting person 364 days of the year...but come Yom Kippur you are a wonderful human being? You are the epitome of what drives people away from religion.
24. Nr 22. dear Sarah - You err in this -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (08.28.13)
If God does not need what You write, God does not need - a CHOSEN PEOPLE either. If you live another five to ten years, you will recognise your error. Arn.Sweden.

26. Tattoos and Images
John M Hummasti ,   Portland USA   (08.28.13)
There is a long held halacha prohibiting the drawing of the human face as a violation of the prohibition against Idolatry! In the US the Amish refused drivers licenses because for one, they require photographing of the human face and the Courts reference Mid-eval Jewish Responsa to rule in favor of the Amish! Just thought I'd remind the readers of that.

28. Religious Quackery
World Citizen ,   the world   (08.28.13)
Every-time I think fundamental religion can't get any more ridiculous it comes out with something that beggars belief. The Creator (G_d if you will) is not concerned about how you look on the outside only what is in your heart.
29. Were Sarah's Parents Buried In A Jewish Cemetery?
World Citizen ,   the world   (08.28.13)
If they had tattoos and obeyed the mullah-rabbis then I guess not.
